That was amazing the things that you found I'm 60 years old and thinking about getting me one of them kind of metal detectors give me something to do in my big yard and my house is from the 1880s never know what I might find
Jean! Go for it! I’m 60+! I’ve been doing this 5 years now! It’s a great hobby! It will give you something to look forward to every day, keep you outside enjoying the weather, and… keep you active & healthy! Check out my RU-vid channel. I’ve found many “treasures” as well! Let me know how you make out! Your yard is a very sweet spot! ( click on my pic to go to my channel)
If u use the word AWESOME again more than five timez in the same video i'll have to fine u one civil war gold ring. Otherwise great fun, again. Rich/San Jose...p.s. Im jealous u have all the civil war sites and weve none out here in silicon hell home of the $1.3 mil 60 yr old tract home and one bedroom $2000mo. apts.
What a wonderful selection of items! Very well done, what always amazes me is how deep some finds are and how shallow others, I imagine its from plowing over the years, but who plows over 12ins deep. Why also, so many dislikes for this video I wonder.... Anyway, great finds and keep up the excellent work.
I just started doing farm fields two years ago. You always want to go especially after they have plowed it! I’m not sure how deep it goes but I would say the top 8 inches of the soil after plowing is soft and easy to dig. I have also found buttons, buckles and other assorted goodies laying right on top of the dirt. You never know what you’re going to find in a farm field! They are my new favorites. In fact my friend and I were just at one two days ago
@@MetalDetectingDonna So very well done, I keep an eye on the ACW relics sites from the US as they have some amazing dug finds, especially from "trash" pits. Keep up the great work, what a fabulous pass-time! Good luck with finds as well.
@@derekstocker6661 Thank you so much for the fun wishes! My friends went without me and found several old buttons! They sent me pics! Wish I had joined them. 😕 Next time!
1. Carry a bottle of water and an old toothbrush to clean artefacts do NOT rub them with your fingers! 2. Always wear gloves as there are loads of germs waiting to get into those little cuts/scratches on your hands!
Cool stuff. I try to imagine a soldier shaking his head in disbelief that someone would get so excited about finding a button or a bullet. Soldiers wore "pinky rings?!"
Those are some of the best finds I have ever seen on a video. I have been in Missouri for 4 years taking care of my Uncle. He passed away last November and we are planning to move back to Reno to retire. I will be going through the SW corner of the state and would love to find a minnie to take with me. There was a major battle south of Springfield early in the war, but there was also a creek near me that I am hoping to search on the way out. I have a Minelab Eureka Gold and was wondering what settings to use since I have little experience with it. Any comment would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and best of luck in the future!
I see this comment was four years ago. Did you get the opportunity to stop and check it out? If you still use your metal detector, any setting will get you started. I hope you stopped, I hope you found some great goodies, I hope you are still metal detecting! It’s a fantastic hobby!
Great finds. The ring isn't from the 1800s with it being marked that way. 1906 was when they started marking gold rings that way but I think you already know that.
Interesting. I thought they marked jewelry from way back. I would need to look that up also. It could have been dropped from a recent farmer in the last hundred years.
You guys want to find alot of buried gold that was apart of the war? Do a stretch along the Tennessee North Carolina state border. There is a treasure legend of buried Civil war Gold there somewhere and it's never been found. I've heard of it in the past years. People bring the story up every now and again because of how much was buried in the ground. It's probably on private property but I know it's out there somewhere yet to be found.
I have another theory for you Riley, that may not be a pinky ring. Sometimes a wife would give her ring to her husband to protect him while he was at war. Just saying, it was a tradition among warriors of multiple cultures including Spartans... Great videos. Thanks!!
Yes that's what i was thinking also. Gosh i would keep that ring forever bc it was so full of love between a civil war soldier and the woman he loved. Priceless!
Me too! I’m trying to discover how to research where these camps are! Of course the ones that are labeled that way, are not legal to Metal Detect. You have to find the undiscovered ones!
Man you guys are great! Your knowledge not to mention your luck with Finding these amazing Artifacts. I study my local civil war history and it's thick! I just started to get serious about my metal detecting. I find horse shoes and old wagon parts, couple of cool things. But I can't wait to find my first civil war relic. But my reason for commenting is Do you hear a voice say "that's mine" after you found the Ring? Do you ever feel their energy when you do this? Just curious. 😊
That’s cool to think about. I think that would scare the crap out of me! I find so many war items, and think about the men that were standing on the very spot I’m on, hundreds of years ago. It’s pretty cool. 👍
Awesome. Let me say it again... AWESOME finds my friend and luuucky. I still have yet to dig an eagle calvery button. I'm alittle jealous to be honest. I just became your new subscriber. Hope to see you again soon buddy.
I have dug many buttons with eagles on them. I have trouble ID’ing them. They look so similar. I’m fortunate enough to be in the Battle Of Saratoga area, other Battles and revolutionary war. So many relics, buttons, buckles & bullets! What a great hobby! 👍
Wow! Sweet finds, and congrats on that gold ring!! I've been detecting now for almost 5 years and still have not dug anything gold up yet. Maybe one day! lol. You have earned my subscription too!
Hey Norm! Have you found that gold yet? I’m sure you have. I’m 5 years into the hobby. I don’t have beaches near me, so it takes a while to find the gold.
@@MetalDetectingDonna I've actually still haven't found gold yet. It's out there though! That being said, I've have found some great relics and silver/copper coins since the comment.
@@randomislandnorm3043 that’s great! I found a mans gold ring in a park once. Once. Lol. I also found 2 small women’s gold rings in the same hole! Once! Where they had the town wide garage sales. How far are you from an ocean beach? It’d be fun to make a day trip with a friend to look for some!
Enjoyed the video. I have never in my life found anything while detecting. I'm in N.W. Alabama, just moved here some months ago. It's good to see someone reel in the good stuff!
Great video awesome relics want to also but any suggestions about metal detector which one should I buy has to be average one $200 or $250 thanks tell me 😎😎👍
May I suggest sandpaper to rub the finish of the delicate design flush down to the metal instead of rubbing the item on your pant leg. Strangely enough I've heard hunters who bring a mason jar or plastic container filled with water to loosen the dirt along with a very fine soft brush. But this I would strongly recommend against this as it would preserve the beauty of the item. I believe rubbing it on your pants shows such disrespect towards the young men who fought valiantly as they lay dying on the battlefield. Yes, dig and retrieve these beautiful items for your collections, but please treat them with the respect that they deserve.
Riley that was a great hunt. I have to disagree with you on the ring. No question that it may have been a pinky ring but more than likely it's a women's wedding band. Most pinky rings were signet rings.
very well could have been a women's wedding band, but if it was, I don't think she was a very faithful one lol as this one was dug right in the opening of a soldiers hut site.
Was the guy in the army jacket in one of the pics Tracy Short? If it was his a wealth of knowledge and a great guy. He taught me a lot and set me on some great hunts which him. Nice finds by the way..
Civil War Unearthed , I knew that was Tracy. Never be another one like him. Lol. If you don’t mind me asking? Are you located in Tennessee? I myself, am located in East Tn. Good luck to you buddy.
thankfully that has never happened, but if it did id call the proper authorities and have them carefully excavate it and bury it where it rightfully belongs
Bobby McCowan haha seriously? You apparently don’t know who this guy is do you? He knows what the items are WHEN he digs them because he is one of the foremost experts in the US on civil war relics. Maybe you could try thinking more clearly.
@ jeff Cooke : I never said the soldier died. You’re the one that assumed. It made me sad that the ring was lost. I don’t know how it happened. Please re-read what I wrote. There was no need to be rude.
