“Civility and Professionalism in a Successful Litigation Practice - Mentorship from the Bench and Bar” is a project of the VSB’s Senior Lawyers Conference with support of the Litigation Section and the Virginia Law Foundation. It includes interviews with the Hon. S. Bernard Goodwyn, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia, and other distinguished jurists as well as VSB President Chidi I. James and other respected trial lawyers about the role and importance of civility and professionalism. Former prosecuting attorney and current NBC news legal commentator Glenn Kirschner provides insightful discussions of the requirements of the Virginia Rules of Ethics, the Supreme Court of Virginia’s attorney oath of office to act “professionally and courteously,” and the aspirational “Principles of Professionalism” endorsed by the Supreme Court of Virginia. Creative work and videography provided by Kevin Kertscher and Big Ocean Studios.
