I had that project in mind for years but when Peter Hollens and Malukah released their cover of Baba Yetu, I knew I had to finally do it. SO here is a remake of the Civilization 4 intro, featuring various excerpts from movies to cover the birth of humanity to its discovery of the stars. And here is the movie list :
Gravity
10.000 BC
Alexander
Troy
Gladiator
Curse of the Golden Flower
Apocalpytico
Kingdom of Heaven
Elisabeth - The Golden Age
The New World
Pirates of the Caribbean
The Patriot
Les Misérables
Gettysburg
Lincoln
Titanic
The Red Baron
Stalingrad
Pearl Harbor
The Right Stuff
Apollo 13
Elysium
Avatar
This video was made for fun and not for profit, I hope you like it!

Spearman vs tank actually happened in the 1936 Italian Abyssinian War. One spearman nearly killed a tank crew as well but the supporting infantry shot him off

Given the context of the movie, it seems a little weird for a "humanity, fuck yeah" video like this. I mean, for starters, the main character betrays the entire human race to clap some alien cheeks.

Y'all are missing the point. It's not about dwelling on all the violence that has been in human history, it's about how humans rose up, invented war and weapons to kill each other, went through horrible violence and war for many years and then became peaceful when they realized the beauty and awe of the universe.
@trackfamousspider
@trackfamousspider 8 лет назад
Incorrect. Violence is an integral part of human history, it always has been, and it always will be. It is part of what makes us human.
@hoseadavit3422
@hoseadavit3422 8 лет назад
Peace? There is no peace in humanity even if we aren't killing there will be no peace you think peace is just killing each other no sir if we are in peace that means we are all dead because with war and rivalry it make us stronger and smarter even if we have to sacrife a lot of live
@russelanderson9437
@russelanderson9437 8 лет назад
Do you mean my interpretation of the video is incorrect, or the video's message is incorrect? Because if you're talking about the video's message there's not much I can do.
@russelanderson9437
@russelanderson9437 8 лет назад
+Hosea Davit There's no peace because war makes us strong? Sorry, I don't buy that. We're in a period of worldwide peace more than any time in human history right now, and we also happen to be at a period of the fastest technological and scientific development ever before. I don't think war makes us smarter and stronger.

light and darkness, highlights and abysses, humankind's finest and darkest hours - they were never put together more perfectly than here. Milestones we achieved by working together, paths leading us far away from our ideals just to find back to them later... Just the perfect summary of mankind's history. If I find an Alien in my backyard and want to show it the history of our species I will probably go for this video.

Only one mistake in the timeline. The Trojan horse scene should be before the Roman Colosseum because Troy fell centuries before even the Roman Republic. The Trojan war ended around 1180 b.c. and the founding of Rome was 753 b.c. which was still around 800 years before the Colosseum in Rome was built. But still I can't stop watching because hell if I care. This video is my favorite.
@HPaulHonsinger
@HPaulHonsinger 8 лет назад
+Golvic ONE mistake? How about the Battle of Stalingrad being placed before Pearl Harbor? Nevertheless, the video is beautiful and moving: the history of our species has a power and a majesty to it.

@Analheme
@Analheme 8 лет назад
+Marc Magnier Montage vraiment magnifique, merci!

Coming in late to this video, but I have to say I am IMPRESSED. Baba Yetu is one of my favorite all-time songs from a game, and the original trailer was fun, but THIS. This was remarkably amazing. +TheMunchkin1370 How is the Lord's Prayer 'Our Father' a fitting song to the wars on this Earth? Here is the translation: Swahili: Baba yetu, yetu uliye Mbinguni yetu, yetu amina! Baba yetu yetu uliye M jina lako e litukuzwe. Utupe leo chakula chetu Tunachohitaji, utusamehe Makosa yetu, hey! Kama nasi tunavyowasamehe Waliotukosea usitutie Katika majaribu, lakini Utuokoe, na yule, muovu e milele! Ufalme wako ufike utakalo Lifanyike duniani kama mbinguni. (Amina) English: Our Father, who art in Heaven. Amen! Our Father, Hallowed be thy name. Give us this day our daily bread, Forgive us of our trespasses As we forgive others Who trespass against us Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one forever. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done On Earth as it is in Heaven. (Amen)
