He beeged me for mercy, honestly, in 500 hours or more of playing Civ5, just that once I saw a leader begging for mercy, cuz he didn't had any troops (in my first 50 hours I think, must've been a low difficulty), then I took his city with that battering ram, then just started another game because I couldn't handle a captured city that early.

he's quite the good guy i always play with him as enemy but i rarely have war with him, he only declare war once on classical era when we are land lock in 1 continent. shaka is way more douche than him, there's was a times where shaka immediately denounce me after 1 turn of meeting him.
Actually, I started another game and Shaka was halfway across the world. within *two* turns he'd denounced me, and now he just insults my borders and armies a lot... So yeah. Kind of a prick.

Already happened to me... And the greeks joined the war with them too! The best cavalry war that I have in Civ V, it's just a question of beating the hunnic rams and pillage their horse sources with your own cavalry horde. But forget anything about science, cultural or diplomatic victory, the shit will become a bloodthirsty world conquering campaign and after conquering their weakly defended cities (only the greek cities were problem, generally well defended) you will have no option but to RAZE ALL THE CITIES TO THE GROUND, because you will conquer them so fast pillaging their horse sources that the happiness penalty for conquering cities will affect your defense, and puppet their generally useless cities will help for nothing. The game will forcibly become rape, pillage and burn. The game would look more like Barbarian V than Civilization V.

Moral of the story: Have a military and hope you dont get Attila as your neighbor.
Fun Fact: Li Ling Si Han is a song about a Chinese general Li Ling. He fought against the Xiongnu, possibly the Huns, and was defeated. He was captured by the Xiongnu and when news of this reached the Chinese emperor, Li Ling's family was executed. When Sima Qian, a historian in the Chinese court, defended Li Ling, he had to choose between being executed, pay up a huge amount of money or get castrated. He chose to get castrated and had to wear a small jar of vinegar with his testicles inside of it with a necklace.

Atilla. Just a military civ you're probably thinking. Then you realize his start bias leaves you with about 10 pastures for your first 4 cities, leaving you with an extra 10 hammers early in the game distributed throughout your empire. Before the renaissance your initial cities have every possible building. Hammers are good.
This theme music is named "李陵思漢"(Pinyin of Chinese is "Li Ling Si Han")，a traditional Chinese song. Li Ling was a general of Han Dynasty of China and defected to Xiongnu in Han-Xiongnu War. Although the relationship between Xiongnu and Hun is still an academic debate of history, but the game designer is obviously implying something. :)
I think I'll ask my school band director to have the student's play this song. It's both easy and sounds wonderful. I once played a game of Civ 5 where I made Attila start right next to me just so I could hear this song... and then beat him.
I had to deal with a 3-front war with him, France and Arabia back in the Medieval Era, and somehow I survived the onslaught. Cue the Information Era, my marching bands are ready to play this when we let him bite the dust :)

Forget being on the same continent, sometimes Atilla decides to declare war on me from the other side of the fucking world. Even if my army is like 10 times bigger than his. He even basically says "I know I'm probably fucked, but lets do this."

In one of my game, Attila had the most important fleet of the world. If the English were there, they would have been ashamed by the fact that this walking beard had like 15 Frigates and the same amount of Privateers
Played a TSL game as Russia with historic spawn dates. I met Atilla and thought 'This'll get ugly.' Not 20 turns later, I heard this start playing. It may have set me back far enough to pretty much guarantee my eventual defeat, but my 2 comp bowmen and 2 spearmen managed to humiliate his medieval era army. That alone was worth my inevitable Augustus-inflicted steamrolling!
