+Mangs One city state I gifted a ton of marines... He decided to declare war on them, they proceeded to destroy all his units and actually attacked a city he had near it.
Yeah, it's pretty weird. He's always friendly until I show him up by steamrolling our enemies. Then he gets jealous of my success. That typically doesn't end well (for him)
Henrique Fredes Actually, the whole "Nuke-happy Gandhi" is a reference to a bug in a previous game that hiked his aggro for no reason. Genghis being friendly is likely due to the fact that capturing a whole bunch of City-States won't win you many friends. People are easier to negotiate with than bots.
Genghis has a very high loyalty value, if you become friendly with him, he will almost never backstab you. So basically the opposite of Alexander and Napoleon
I think ghengis himself was actually nice as long as you didnt kill his envoys, which for some reason most people did, who then subsequently had their nations genocided out of existence.
***** Naaah. Attila: "I have the best horseback archery!" Genghis: "Rubbish, mine are superior." Attila: "My horses are magical, they appear from nowhere." Genghis: "Mine go faster and the riders can move and shoot." Attila: "Oh yeah? W-well mine are more majestic!" Genghis: "Mine has a shinier coat... heh" Attila: "AR. THIS IS WAR!" Genghis: "Bring it."
***** calm down man haha. my character kills thalmor and stormcloaks indiscriminatly. i think its cause he's a redgaurd and a former mercenary and came to skyrim from stros mkai seeking money and work and didnt give af about the nords. but after the horrifics of the thalmor and realisng how much the emperor had bowed to the dominion, my character formally declared war on the thalmor with the companions.
A recent game, I was playing as Brazil. Didn't have that great of an army, probably could beat someone if they tried invading. America declares war. Crap Japan jumps into the fray Shiiiiit Poland follows suit At this point, I thought I was completely dead. I was fighting them off - barely - and only surviving due to forts, when a message popped up. Genghis, the ultimate cool kid and friend to all people, had taken Polands capital and then begun attacking Washington soon after, leaving me with enough leaveway to push out and take over Odas land for my own. We killed everyone on the map together, and it was beautiful. R.I.P Genghis, sorry for leaving you on planet earth.
Then again, I laughed my ass off when fighting his samurais with my unupgraded Keshiks and artillery. Sent them on a wild goose chase while showering arrows and shells on them.
I once played a game as Venice, and although I didn't have the strongest military (always just enough to protect my borders) I became a good ally to the Mongols by covering their deficit, gifting spare resources, and sending most of my trade units to their cities. Then when Darius got too greedy and declared war on me, Ghengis crushed the Persian empire within 20 turns. The Mongols can be great allies if you can pull it off.
Phil Lewis huh I always declare war on everyone else and militarise heavily I seriously recommend you do that as it’s really satisfying taking cities in 2 turns and taking capitals in 10 Oh and burning city states
I always feel bad when I defeat Genghis Khan. It's because his defeated animation and quote is: "Guide me to my execution" and he puts both hands behind his back. He admits defeat and looks utterly emotionally shattered by the fact that he failed to deliver the riches he promised his golden horde.
Ξιπόλυτος Έκλτης they did, they slaughtered thousands of Hungarians and killed the polish king. They planned to conquer Germany. But the great khan died and the leaders had to return to Mongolia
@@edwarddisken296 Nope, you're actually in fact patently wrong. It's has been already transparently more-than-obvious that European strongholds were too impressively constructed and gargantuanly durable for Khan and his forces to invade. We are an impenetrably unstoppable object surrounded by knights in multifacetedly layered armour and shapely unrelated weapons of massive variety such as swords, poleaxes, maces, warhammers, shields, flails, harlberds, catapults, cannons, spears, javelins and so forth. Our fortifications were too much for any Khan to deal with it. Our armour could have effortlessly fully protect from their arrows and not be decimated. Our heavy cavalry is too much.
@@beybarsbarsbek2271 Ironic that you're telling him to learn history after such an idiotic statement as "Mongolia isn't, but Tataria is a civilization."
yes. Mongolia is basically just a group of nomad cavalry people that love to raid. and in the middle of their raid n conquer process, they creating a country. it's not a civilization but also a civilization at the same time. not a civilization because they were basically just a big company that eat lot of countries. and these countries obey the leader of this company. The Great Khan. and also a civilization because they also have their own culture and help shape these countries' culture. Steppe people of Asia are Turks. Turks also have their culture even though they're nomads.
It's ironic. Anytime I meet mongolia, he always ends up wanting to be my friend. It's always nice to have somebody like Ghengis have my back from other civs. Hahah.
Person Man McDude Guy Napoleon -> Oh come on I am taller than that! Bismarck -> Do I really look that mad? Queen Elizabeth -> I was never that upset with other civilizations. The list goes on.
+Herbivore The Carnivore A man of his stature doesn't need to say much to tell you that you're going to need to eat through a straw for the rest of your life.
+Taifun Leo They are invading force in both Medievals and Mongol Invasion expansion for Shogun 1. Game concentrated on them would be boring because you would steamroll all neighbours.
Russian Guy Well, the Egyptians came first, but the Roman empire dwarfed their deeds. Same could be said about Attila, he is nothing compared with Khan. Even Alexander is puny in comparison.
Rafael Teles Well to be fair Attila may have been even greater than Genghis if he hadn't died so soon. Besides the succession after Genghis' death (the power squabbles of his sons causing a lack of unity) the mongolians lost a crucial battle in Arabia which basically halted the Mongolian advance in which they never truly recovered. Bleda was destroying eastern Roman armies, but ended up dying leaving it all up to Atilla. Atilla was on his way to Rome, but ended up dying beforehand. Without Atilla, the huns basically were done for.
As much of an asshole Genghis is, the few times I actually befriended him he ended up being a loyal ally throughout the entire game. So at least he's not Montezuma and Atilla in terms of "Gigantic Assholes That I Never Even Want To Engage In Diplomacy at All".
I was still using Keshiks into the early modern era (I didn't upgrade them to cavalry, because keshiks are vastly better), with the Statue of Zeus, you finish the game so early they never become truely obsolete. :)
When playing as Genghis Khan, there is an interesting strategy for taking over cities and defeating armies with little to no harm: get your Keshiks close enough to a city or enemy unit to fire at them, do so and withdraw. In other words, hit and run tactics. It helped me win the Rise of the Mongols scenario.
“The greatest happiness is to scatter your enemy, to drive him before you, to see his cities reduced to ashes, to see those who love him shrouded in tears, and to gather into your bosom his wives and daughters.”
Everytime he declares war on me I become pretty scared and rightfully so. If the AI was able to use the Keshik with its full potential... Well then he´d be the Gandhi of the early eras.
yesterday Denmark invaded me after being somewhat friendly and he had about 5 catapults 3 composites and 2 bezerkers and i only had 2 composites so there wasnt much i could do. but about 20 turns later he was distracted fighting dido, catherine and france all at the same time, so i came in and took my capital (i was Polynesia and ive forgot the name) with 3 trebuchets, 2 composites and a pikeman, all while colonising the new world with the colonisation social policy.
Even though Genghis and I always seem to denounce each other and get into wars, I actually respect him. He's a good opponent. One of us always seems to end up destroying the other in the end...
irl this guy was the most terrifying human being to ever exist. responsible for the death of ten percent of the worlds population at the time. good theme for him.
However, he repopulated! It's estimated that 15 percent of all Asians can trace their ancestry back to khan, DIRECTLY. as for just distant cousins and stuff, 70 percent of Asians.
Hearing this theme after winning a domination victory, and the climax starting just as the map replay shows the snowball kicking in and cities being conquered each turn... was good feeling.
Well at least they're known at least in the Muslim world Some are even heroes like Berke Khan son of jochi son of ghenkhis khan leader of the golden horde khanate Timur lenk leader of the timurids descendants of the chagatais Ghazan khan son of Hulagu leader of Il khanate Babur shah and Aurangzeb from Mughal empire persian word of mongol maghuls sultanate in Arabic
At least they have that bragging right, from Eastern Europe to the shores of Korea and Japan, the Mongols have left a bigger influence then almost any other empire in history, especially in Asia.
Genghis Khan: Chinii suld udur chini irj dee! Wu Zetian: {notices Keshiks} GODDAMN MONGORRIAAAN! How come everytime us Chinese try to build a shity wall the stupid Mongorian have to come break it down! Genghis: Uuniig daichin shig shidverl'ye!! Wu: Chunhuo, wo yao ba nimen kaiteng po du!!
This is what I love about the CIV series. Everybody remembered several similar things about a particular AI then tell stories on how it went for them. Pretty cool stuff.
Once upon a time, i played a game as Poland. My allies were Russia, Germany, China, Byzantium, and Persia. Genghis Khan (whose borders were touching mine), and Shaka Zulu spawned next to me. Me and the Khan were not friends, since i had recently defeated him in a naval war in his attempt to capture Poznan. I was in the Industrial age, and i saw a message "Genghis Khan has entered the Atomic age." 1 minute later, i deleted my game and all of the proof it happened.
Genghis is one of the nicest leaders in the game. He never backstabs me. If it werent for him allways attacking my city state allies he would be the perfect ally. But no one is perfect i guess.
He was very cunning and smart. The major blemish on his record is the murder of his half-brother, but beyond that he was a relatively humane leader for the brutal times and cultural context (ever-shifting Mongolian tribal intrigue).
Anyone who claimed to have kicked this guy's ass in the comments played 1) a game with a difficulty less than Emperor or 2) against an AI who doesn't know how to maximize the potentials of Keshiks and Khans.
In most of my experiences, never let this guy become an empire if he is on your continent. It's to either destroy or block him from possible expansion opportunities. I find the second option more beneficial and satisfying, because he is one the most loyal allies in the game. At any time he starts to get stronger knock him down a peg before it's too late, his allies are usually the second people he destroys.
@Akkmul He had ALL power to take cities, but he did it with minimum losses in his army. Moreover he was the only conqueror who tried to win with minimal losses of enemy's army, because after win, he joined them. The Mongolian army was an army of 90% ex-enemies. A lot of people of nomad tribes joined to Chengis Khan voluntarily, despite they had own khans.
