Blue skies in April and a chill north wind blowing down the Adriatic. You hear it mixing with the sound of the cataract. There are about forty steep steps, earth treads, pegged board risers and a straggling bannister, easier on the ascent. This is the cataract that falls 50 feet or so next to the winding road between Nymphes and Episkepsi in Corfu. I'm an old man so went down on my bottom, but everyone else - Linda, Amy, Guy and our grandchildren Hannah and Oliver - clambered happily down from the road to see the narrow stream of cold fresh water tipping into a crystal clear pool, that spills into a wooded ravine running east towards Nymphes. Climbing back up was easy.
