David Eddings (voice of Claptrap and Business VP at Gearbox) was rage fired in 2017 for asking a question about a potential sale of Gearbox. Randy didn't tell him and David only found out after a source leaked it to him and asked to remain anonymous. At GDC 2017 Eddings confronted Randy to ask him and things got physical. Randy shoved him demanding he reveal his whistleblower. He was fired days later. In the development of Borderlands 3, Eddings was willing to put the past aside to return as Claptrap for the fans as long as he was paid as an outsider and received royalties for past work. An agreement could not be reached. Randy says Eddings was paid handsomely for past work and refused 2x scale for returning to BL3. Eddings says no offer like that was made.
