I remember when I was about 16/17 years old, I was walking home one night, and on the street was a pile of garbage that was obviously there for the next day’s collection. Amongst this garbage I noticed a bag full of old 78rpm records. So, I took them home, and would you believe, one of them was this beautiful piece. And that folks, became my introduction to classical music!
My late father chose this song to be played at his “Celebration of Life,” (funeral). He was truly a a renaissance man…😢❤. He taught Shakespeare, Critical Thinking, English Composition… and also worked physically hard at home. He had a radio broadcast called, The Poetry of Music. I miss his spirit horribly.
My oldest brother played this song when he was a teenager when he learned violin and as a child, I was in love with this music. 2 yrs ago, he passed. Now when I’m downcast, I’ll think about this music as I can talk to myself, process the feelings and get comfort from God.
We lost our son to suicide in 2019. I requested that Meditation be performed after everyone had sat down and before the funeral began. I listen to this several times a week. It helps with my mourning. Thank you for such a touching performance!
I lost my wife to brain cancer in 2013. I can think of no better music selection, upon which to reflect. And in particular, this stunningly beautiful performance is as good / excellent as it gets. I presume you look forward to meeting him there - in the Heavenly realm.
No words can convey my deepest sympathy to you and your family. May God continue to help you find peace and comfort. What a beautiful piece to meditate to with your sons memory, I'm sure he's with you everything you hear it. God Bless.🌹
PAUL for goodness sakes what does it take to at LEAST support someone when they’re at their lowest times!? If you think that the violin player isn’t talented, that’s one thing. But to say it aloud and at someone who’s gone through pain!? Smh come on dude.
Me too, my 2nd Dad, Bruce Ronk, Dr Bruce Ronk, (Ph.D.), taught literature, Shakespeare, C.S. Lewis, Critical Thinking....this song was playing at Hospice when he passed. He use to have the WSUS radio show on Sunday mornings, where he would read poetry to classical music. Renaissance Man. 💞
When life becomes more than you don't understand, listen to this beautiful music. It won't change the world , but it just might give you a moment of incredible ☮️ peace.
@@carinedegraef4988 Thank you Carine for your thoughts. I lost the LOML 12 years ago and though extremely emotional to listen to. It in some way keeps her near. It was our favorite.😢
This master piece is meant to express the broken soul that words failed to explain. Even the bottom of one's heart would filled with tear and grief. This piece has been meticulously composed to fulfill what is world is needed most: compassion and empathy.
wow.. just.. wow... it's like she's possessed by the piece that it moves me so much. One of the best performances I've seen that touches my soul so much. What a gem.
I listen to this recording on a pretty regular basis. Maybe one day it won't bring me to tears, I hope that day never comes, because then my soul will have died. This is the most emotional recording of any piece of music I have ever heard, it tears at the heart and soul.
The finest performance of this classic I have heard. Maybe because Clara shows such beautiful emotion, that I am caught up in the power of her essence. Be that as it may be, her performance is impeccable. Thank you for this "incredible" performance. 👍👍
To me, this is the best interpretation of this beautiful piece. She is conveying to me what the composer was trying to say. Clara-Jumi plays every note from her heart & soul!❤️
It's a joy to see her intense feelings on her face while playing. This touches me deeply and I love her soulful interpretation of this piece. Love it!!!
Yes, indeed I see so many players who seem mechanical, it's a joy for persons like her when see that they not only perform well, but seem to convey am for of peace.
Magnifique expression, quintessence de l'âme humaine... Essence partagée et augmentée par la sensibilité, la justesse et la vérité des commentaires. 🕯️🙏🏻💗
This performance is exactly what the Meditation is meant to express. I totally love this rendition of the "Thais". Clara-Jumi Kang is excellent at both technique and musical insight making the emotion flow to the audience. Performance is without any technical or emotional flaw.
IMHO, Clara's interpretation of this piece is the most loyal one to the original context of the song in the opera, where Thais' inner conflict reaches its height. Starting it with a humble tone, but she soon adds differing dynamics to her playing to effectively depict Thais' psychological agonies during the process. Finally she returns to her own meditative quality of sound implying the heroine's changing her mind to embrace the Christianity.
I love this song! I come here once a week at least to hear it. I never knew that much classical music, but since I knew this song I was quite amazed by violin. It tells a story that moves my heart absolutely amazing
Surly this music was an inspired piece of work by the composer and one so beautifully played and interpreted by this young talented violinist. Certainly, a very moving piece of music.
At my request, a good friend and violinist, played Thais Meditation at the Celebration of my husband’s Life. It was absolutely beautiful. Just when one thinks the song is over, it is not. That truly represented my Kristian’s life, a WWII survivor.
I listened to this piece since I was a kid when I learned to play violin from my uncle。 This was one of his favorites。 In the sad old black n white movies, when it came to very sad scenes, they played this as background music。 Clara brought back that memories with tears in my eyes, no othervplayers have done that while I searched for many versions。
Clara amazing performance....Brilliant and flawless...Perfection personified....the subtle expression of your love for music and this particular song..you are a brilliant violinist..Thank you for this performance I enjoyed every moment...❤️ sending love from the USA
I don’t think I’ve heard a better, more profoundly expressed interpretation of this piece in my entire life. Once you make even the toughest people cry, then it can only be described as pure bliss and perfection; a little bit of heaven in Earth. Even though I didn’t cry, my heart did at least 😭😭👏👏👏😍
This is the most beautiful presentation of this music l have be privileged to hear, and I have heard many, including Joshua Bell. Clara Kang,s performance is so moving and most of all genuine. Beautifully done.💌
Hoy 1 de junio 2024 vuelvo a escucharla y a emocionarme hasta las lagrimas Su rostro transmite el dolor. Increible. Unica. Besos Beatriz de Argentina ❤
2.56 expresses how the all emotions from the deepest part: the grieving and all confusions has been burst out loudly and it could explain well how one's life has been through all the biterness. 2.57-2.59 the loudest emotion has now become silent as broken soul couldn't be mend and needed to be accepted. Now, you could sense how crying in bitterness sound by this graceful vibrato and her facial expression. This is an exceptional piece of art world need to hear most: not to heal but to embrace what life gives you.
Life is fraught with both pain and loss; I learned that lesson when I was in the U.S. NAVY; Not everyone either has the courage to repeatedly attempt life again and again or the wisdom to discern the deeper message inherent in our human sufferings. Meditation is that opportunity to surrender ourselves to the Divine for both solace and nourishment.
This astonishingly beautiful interpretation of Massenet's Meditation has become my morning anthem. It is the antidote that liberates me from the daily dose of angst brought on by the morning news. Ms. Kang's flawless and emotionally moving performance is of overwhelming beauty that is only enhanced by the impassioned involvement depicted in her facial expression. You simply can't take your eyes off her. Thank you Clara!
So ineffably awe-inspiring, fabulous, mesmerizing, & tantalizingly sublime that I can't help feeling in deference to her for her impassioned emotion, possibly unparalleled, & almost incomparable & unsurpassable performance! Right tempo, seamless transition w/ that undivided timing & impeccable precision. I love this rendition of an iconic piece of the classical music, Meditation. My heartfelt kudos & gratitude to you, Clara Kang,,,,,(08/21/23)

years of training and sacrifice will eventually lead you to performing from your heart and soul! A performance that inspires the youth and bring the world together!
Clara "nails" this beautiful and difficult piece very, very nicely. Her violin is exceptionally rich sounding and watching her bow over the strings is done effortlessly.
Not only was it a detailed performance with effective intonation, but the timbre also leapt into the heart, truly making it an impressive performance. Thank you for the wonderful performance. I would love to hear it live.
