Now that was some funny stuff.Jeff you should know that when dealing with aviation equipment you have to say"switch on,contact" to start it.I didn't know you could use the overhead guard on a hi lo to trim trees.l'm always learning new tricks from old dogs. Thanks for posting this vid.
Never seen a poor old overworked forklift cry until today. "Why won't they leave me alone ? I just want to rust in peace." Tony's a great machinist, I think he's just no good in front of a camera. How people behave when there's a camera on them is completely different to how they are in person. Jeff shines in front of the camera that's why his videos are not only informative but entertaining. Tony, on the other hand, will do you a killer job on a water pump (and what ever else he does) but he wouldn't want you to watch him do it. Jeff wouldn't get anywhere near ME with his camera, I hate being watched when I work. If I ever did a video of what I do, I would only shoot my hands and then I'd use one of those computer generated voices because I can't stand the sound of my own voice. Thanks for a fun twelve and a half minutes.
I'm exactly the same! It's not many photos of me as young and no recordings of my voice, today whit all cameras everywhere I try to be used to being footed...
Glad you were able to be there for "Professor Grumpy" and help him out when he needed it as he has done for you in the past. Hope that trailer fender, frame and tongue are ok? Thanks Jeff and Tony for sharing the fun.
Despite feeling the FULL range of emotions and yelling at the screen two or three times, it was really only possible to agree with Tony's final assessment when he said, "it works don't it?" LOL!
This video made me laugh, Tony is definitely a machinist not a mechanic or forklift operator, I've never seen an old Continental squirt gas out of the head gasket that was a first lol. I thought your old 3/4 ton was done for the old trucks are tough that forklift has got to weigh at least 5 ton.
Oh my God! This is without a doubt the best and most dangerous video you have ever made. I hope he didn't damage your truck. I just knew he was going into the bed of your truck. Gotta watch old folks on machinery....... What a hoot!
Some people should never drive lift trucks: Tony is one of those people. He has great machinist skills, but his driving skill with that monster looks more like demolition derby. I hope you are going to load and unload on the return trip. Scary, but fun, to watch.
That thing needs so much more than carb work....lol. I like the big "gap" in the intake. Wait a minute....you told me you were busy working. That's fool around with the grumpy German!!! lol
Looks like a backwards Clarktor industrial tractor/airplane tug, wouldn't be surprised if they share parts. Sounded like it was getting a boost from a mk1 diesel VW -- we have had to jump the dump truck and many other things from our mk1 Rabbit!
I saw that thing in earlier videos and was just waiting for this. There is a guy here that does stuff like that on a regular basis. My ex-UNcle-in-law said that if you didn't believe in a Higher Power, just ride with that guy. You would before long.
Oh Man that fork lift should of got a 1 way ticket to china about 10 years ago, we had one a bit newer than that where I worked 14 years ago, that was a similar performance to do anything with it. The loading ended better than I figured though, At that speed I thought it was going to hit the trailer head board/pipe, stop real sudden with tony getting the steering wheel in the chest. Break the truck frame in half with all the weight on it and the fork lift was going to drop through the floor and sit on the trailer frame rails. I guess the duals saved it L.O.L. Man that was a fun video you 2 make a real funny show when Tony comes out to play !
Lol!! Years ago 1978 my dads workers drove a 2ton asphalt roller into the bed of a f 150 and drove from NYC to long island our shop. I unloaded its frame bent like a banana.!! Still used truck for construction. Cool old forklift worth fixing up .
Ya know, I have watched this video a few time over the years and still crack me up (Ya, I'ma simple man) Good friends are life treasures……..rock on Tony.
Yes, scary and fun at the same time - you don't get the same at the movies nowadays... This is real recycling! I still have a sign in my head as a reminder I did something like Tony did, just with slightly worse results...
you aught to put that relic out in the salvage pasture and while your at it, do something with the old Clark Loader too. lol, do more of these videos i need a laugh or three
I thought I had a new one from Jeff but I didn't so since I was here anyway I thought I'd re-wacth this one, hoping something would change. It didn't. I was wrong again BUT I can still hope.
Holy shit, I thought for sure the reese hitch ripped right off your truck during that first load up Jeff. I thought the "almost load" just before that was going to result in a visit from the detectives to see if there was any foul play in the crash...... ;-)
Love the old Solex carb off an air cooled Volkswagen on the forklift! I thought I recognized the float bowl at first, so I had to go back for another look..
Another awesome piece of machinery that's been saved from a one way trip to China. It's got a VW solex 30 or 34 pict carb on it. I bet thats not original. I wanted the VW in the back ground. Its probably where the carb came from. I know that place ha ha. You didn't want that rh mud guard on the trailer. ha ha. It's nearly been a year since i was there. Yes i miss America. :O)
I sure did and you are both really nice guys too. You didn't electrocute yourselves in the process which was a bonus. I didn't really want to have to practice my CPR skills on you or Tony. Ha ha. Take care Jeff. :O)
Reminds me of the guy who rented space from me. He also had an old Clark forklift, he got it stuck, smashed more stuff and flogged that poor machine unmercifully.
I think my gut still hurts from lauhghing. Jeff that was probaby one of your best. Be interresting to see a video on the trailer. It looks home made and if it is Id love to know how to build a tilt bed homemade. I will be building 2 trailers this winter.
What's the history on that old iron?? Redwood City is 15 minutes from here. I have a brother and two nephews who live there and am working on a house there right now, in fact. ;o) Feel sorry for that trailer and your old truck.
I just about died choking on my coffee , Russian forklift Startsdacoff HA HA HA -- I worked for a guy that had a lift like that 228 motor he said it would`nt start , I looked at it over dinner once the rockers were all loose push rods and pipes all fell off put them back on the rockers sounded good . . -- Never seen gas it come out the head bolt before .
Jeff with all do respect brother, please be carefull around Tony I know hes sharp as a tack, but he seen a little careless in his older age. I sure would hate to see you get hurt brother. Sending prayers of safety your way. Sorry he just scares me.
7:00 : yep, she was kinda full. Rear wheel steering can be a pain to get accustomed to. I thought I was doing fine in my forklift ticket test, until I looked behind and realised I had knocked over like 5 cones. I like those old ww2 Airport tugs. These bunch of p51 and other ww2 fighter plane pylon racers from Reno restored one and put a small block chevy in it, looked (and sounded) really cool!
Magnets stuck to the bottom or side of the fuel tank will keep any Red dUST attracted to them and keep it out of the needle and seat in the carb.. prevent flooding.. just don't ever move them.. you will scatter all the Red dUST thru the fuel line.. 1990 ford ranger fuel filters can be used with either 5/16 fuel hose or 3/8 fuel hose.. and are 10 micron elements and capture the sediment and have enough filter media to prevent quick clogging except in the worst cases.. edit.. must recall to bring a tree trunk with you that has several notches in it to go under the trailer tongue near where the side rails come together.. so the truck is not exposed to this kind of excessive frame bending load ever again..
Tony, as subtle as a sledgehammer as usual, surprised this didn't end up as a saga titled 'RRTOFL' with a Bradshaw Patent Headgasket repair. It wasn't Tony who bent the axle on that trailer was it? LOL
The distributor growing out of the center of the head is a sure sign of a Continental engine. Roughly the same as were built under license by Willys, Kaiser/Frazer and others. Even as awesome as they are they still need gas.
As I wrote in my comment I might have been able to if only the steering was much better When I put the fourth gear in I was about 70 Km/h and no gas! The fifth gear should have been horrific fast! It was a Volvo truck diesel engine in it and probably the same thing with the gearbox with no hydraulic, just manual directly can't really remember what sorts of brake system it had...
Hey.. I grew up near Redwood City...called by us folk when we were really, really young Deadwood City! I had a boat (when I was just really young but really, really stupid) that was docked there! How this got to Grants Pass, OR...that's a whole other video. I had a crappy day, so this video was just what I needed to lighten my foul mood.
:This is your Captain speaking... there will be a slight delay in takeoff today as there seems to be some problem with the baggage. Imagine that, baggage problems at an airport, what'll they think of next?
It exists much bigger ones I would love to see! The harbor trucks in Umeå shoveled snow with buckets big enough to hold two cars! And how fast they drove, I don't know for sure, but they claimed 70 Km/h! No idea what they could lift but guaranteed well over 20,000 Kg! We had a restaurant in the harbor area that used to be a passage to the ferry to Finland, too bad it was before the time of mobile cameras! Would have otherwise had a lot of nice videos from that time...
