1. Christopher Reeves 2. Brandon Ruth i love Brandon Ruth bc the way he ACT as Clark Kent goofy, nervous is the best n when his Superman he is SERIOUS :D
@@msucsabahmuhammadhazman1821 no whos ur fav supes? Brandon Ruth's Clark is a NERD, he hides his identity, just like Christopher Reeves the 1 whos NATURAL is Henry Cavil he plays the same CLark & Superman-_- n no 1 FIGURED it out he was SUperman XD
How Lois can continually overlook Clark, I'll never understand it. He may come off as awkward and clumsy, but those glasses cannot begin to hide how much of a SNACK that man is.
i think glasses makes us look better ,well at least in my case......i hope, wait does that sound egoinstic? I hope not, because that's not what i wanted it to came out like......wait , can you start rubling in text form? I better shut up before i mess something up, i hope you get what i meant, bye.
Cosmic Syzygy honestly I just think this movie messed up making her married. Had she been single raising Superman’s kid she could hate Superman and actually not pay attention to him. But with Clark she could fall in love with him. It would have been very interesting seeing her be in love with Clark for once since that’s who he wants her to love rather than Superman.
Preston Hong Cavil is a young superman he hasn't mastered Clark Kent yet. Snyder's plan was have character development with superman but it was cut short.
Preston Hong No your wrong. Superman is the real guy and Clark is the mask. Just read the comics and you will see. Superman dying comes straight out of the comics and that a young superman felt alone and isolated at times until he met people like batman. Superman was a loner until he found friends like the justice league........ you realize he actually had friends in smallville and when he left he was all alone. The comics handled Clark coming back to the daily planet after dying too. I'm summarizing my thoughts cause my device is about to die
When you realize the boy doesn't really have ashma, his body is just adjusting to earth's atmosphere because he's part kryptonian. And as he grows he'll probably be hearing thing from great distances, seeing through walls and eventually getting his super strength, flight and other kryptonian abilities.
@@alyssabrown6877 Well if you remember from the Christopher Reeves Superman movie when Lois found out Clark was Superman and i believe they had sex and he wiped her memory of him being Superman for her own protection. So it may add up to that bit so it's understandable
To be a good superman it's not enough to be a good looking muscular tall guy with dark hair, you need to be a good Clark Kent overall, and this is the best Clark Kent I've ever seen since the late Christopher Reeve. Brandon did an awesome job here.
@@thechosenjoshua not only was all of that undid by oliver. But jason was confirmed by clark to still be alive when that event happend. Plus they'd show Jason's little plate too soooo good endings all around!
@@thechosenjoshua not only was all of that undid by oliver. But jason was confirmed by clark to he srill alive when that event happend. Plus they'd show Jason's little plate too soooo good endings all around!
@Jhon D There is several explanations for that. One has to do with the glass in his glasses affecting people's perception of his face. Also, Henry Cavill legitimately tested the whole glasses thing and no one noticed who he was. While he stood near a billboard with his face on it.
Oh ,man that was such a great scene. You can literally feel Clark's jealousy when Lois talks to Richard. I found it endearing, and sad at the same time that Lois always loved Superman but not Clark. Clark Kent was the nerdy socially awkward guy but Superman was the masculine , confident guy that Lois was attracted too.
Lois was alway smart that she figured out that Clark was superman. Christopher Reeves & Margot Kidders worked well on the whole bantering that the characters do. She never really ignores Clark, but here it’s like she doesn’t really care if Clark was gone for 5 years. Or that he is back.
@@jesskhan09 Its the number 1 issue I have with Superman Returns, which overall I really enjoy. Her and Clark were always good friends and fun rather she was onto him or not and that's just totally not evident in this one.
@@jasminecrawford42 I don't think Routh and Bosworth had good chemistry. Bosworth has good chemistry with James Marsden, the guy who plays Richard, but they really should have found a better Lois Lane actress who played off Routh.
@@John-ct9zs Its a lack of chemistry, but I also REALLY hate the way they had Lois treat Clark. Who she always cared about even as only a friend and here she didn't give a dog about him. Hate it.
Awwww... I just really really loved Brandon Routh as Superman and Clark Kent. He was perfect as both. Edit: Just imagine Henry Cavill doing this scene. There's just no way he would have pulled it off like that. It's so natural to Brandon.
@@piccoloatburgerking Brandon is an amazing Clark Kent, but his Superman may be even stiffer than Cavill. Cavill embodied Superman more to me, he just needs the right script.
@@jonathonmyska3194 Awkward people like Clark exist in real life. There should be a difference between Superman and Clark that extends beyond the glasses.
Our current Superman actor is like a more hardcore version. Brandon impersonate Superman as a whole. The hidden identity persona and unde the blue outfit. I have wondered by Brandon was never used for other superman tittles. He did an excellent job. Plus Superman returns place 5 keys abilities about superman. The hearing, bullets bouncing based on his steel body. Eyes heat radiation and the cold air, when putting out the fire. The last one is, the refulling escene with the sun
I've always hated how in most media they have Clark being ignored by Lois but being adored & worshiped by said woman when he's Superman, that kind of tells you what kind of person you're dealing with and on top of that, she either didn't know or really didn't want to see that Clark was clearly Superman. He deserves better & the whole Clark/Superman/Lois thing gets kind of old after 70+ years of it.
Well I don’t blame her. Clark and Sups have completely different personalities. Clark is shy and clumsy while Superman is strong and confident which is what gets most people’s attention. And since they’re the same person they obviously look alike so it just tell you that Lois ain’t in it for the looks
Andre E I mean..... it’s still the same Lois. Not sure why that matters. I feel like you said that just to show off you know information that’s pretty much common knowledge
“It’s great to finally meet you - I heard SO.” •pleasantly surprised• “ Oh, you *have.* “ “Yeah - Jimmy just won’t shut up about ya!” •grins all round•
I don't know what it is but those exchanging looks between Lois and Clark at 3:24 and ESPCIALLY that innocent little wave that Clark gives is just too damn adorable! I cannot even begin to express how much I loved Brandon Routh as Superman. In my opinion, My next favorite Superman next to Christopher Reeve.
I feel that Routh carried over all he could of Reeves work. I found the whole movie bitter-sweet for missing reeves and enjoying Routh's portrayal. to me this film completes the movies I grew up with(Reeves).
I love the movie so much, even after all those years. That's why I made a SR wall clock for my home on my channel. This is the best movies I've ever seen and I know every line from it, it's crazy 🤣
This is my favorite movie--beautifully filmed--great acting and very touching. I loved the 78 version too and Superman Returns brings back all the emotions of the original. I don't want Superman to be a dark character--that's what makes him special as he's the epidemy of the good guy hero.
I was thinking the same thing! Clark is not registering as a romantic interest at all. He looks similar and is built exactly like that man youve been with for years and you just don't see him????
HomeGirl That's probably what happened when the man she loves just took off & left without saying good bye she lost that spunk & to top it off she just found out she was pregnant & planned to tell him.
@@tvalokibatman6563es she did that’s why she had no idea Clark was super man and kept looking over Clark as just a nerdy journalist or who the actual father was of her son. In the CW crossover event it was mentioned that at the end of this movie Clark and Lois got together and Jason becomes his legitimate son so Clark probably told Lois everything and they got together and married.
The look on his face at 1:22..hahaha "I want to drive your head through the wall, into the next city.." Nothing against Cavill, but this movie buries Man of Steel 6 ways to Sunday..
r0bw00d I have to agree with the other guy. Brandon Routh portrayed the role like he was possessed by Christopher Reeve himself. While Bosworth as Lois Lane was like a totally different person from Margot Kidder as Lois Lane.
@@RealFanOfSteel I have to agree. I can see her softening as a mother, but she's far too young and soft spoken and not sharp or tough like Kidder Lois. Shes supposed to be the same character, so in that case it really is a problem.
Bryan Singer was a fan of Kate Bosworth even though she is clearly too young to play the part. I would have preferred Rose Byrne for the role of Lois Lane. She is the same age as Brandon Routh
@@simon.0898 This movie was made as a direct sequel to Superman II, the actor was chosen due to his resemblance to Christopher *Reeve. Move on, get over it
@@jonathanbirch2022 you don't try to play christopher reeves. Yes he resembles reeves but his job is to be superman Clark Kent. Everything is in the script. You've stated it correctly 'he resembles christopher reeves'. That's it. But his job isn't to be him if you get Me.
@@jonathanbirch2022 what are you talking about you're a tool. Brandon Routh played in superman returns the wholes cast was different. They didn't have play form actors from the 70s they had to play the characters. You don't anything about film. Jesus christ.
Always puzzled by some of the criticism I have seen Brandon Routh get for his performance. Things like 'he's trying to copy Christopher Reeeve'. It was supposed to be a direct sequel to Superman 2. With that in mind he's effectively being asked to be Christopher Reeve.
I really like this movie, I don't know why people hate it so much. Routh plays superman and Clark both so well. The only thing I hate in this movie is Lois lane, I mean it's quite apparent that she likes only superman and can't spare even a second for Clark and yet the fool can't see it.
Captain Faggot Well through the years different illustrators based and varied depictions of Clark Kent so the present directors might have drawn inspiration based on the childhood comics they followed in casting calls.
I've kind of dissected the specific medicines that Jason takes since he's the son of Superman. Eye drops: Maybe because Superman has his heat vision, and doesn't want Jason to use it accidentally. Albuterol: It's used for preventing shortness of breath, and as seen in the ship scene, Jason starts breathing heavily while Lois is getting hurt, thus makes Jason use his powers. Maybe it's also Jason doesn't blow part of the house off from a sneeze due to him having Superman's super breath powers (don't know it there's an official term for it) Poly-vi-flor: Don't know what this could be used for that matches up with Superman's abilities, but it's used for infants and children who have a poor diet or low levels of fluoride.
So Clark just HAPPENS to come back from his trip and at the SAME TIME Superman RETURNS and nobody in a office full of REPORTERS finds that even remotely peculiar. OK then. Still extremely confused how Lois was not sure if Superman or whathisname was the father? I mean there would be time bw her heartbreak and a new bf? It all seems so weird unless Kryptonian pregnancies go unnoticed for longer periods of time atleast to humans.
Jasmine Crawford This is one of those decades old questions that the comics don't address. It's kind of like "how does a simple change of hairstyle and glasses fool millions?"
Jasmine Crawford Supposedly, the difference in behavior and personality is enough for reporters to dismiss the simultaneous return of Superman and Clark Kent as a coincidence. And Lois probably did know that Superman was her son’s father. Whether Richard knows is never said. Maybe after she found out she was pregnant Lois felt it necessary to disguise her son’s paternity, as she knew he would be targeted by Superman’s enemies.
I think he played a better clark kent than Henry cavill but for superman , henry cavill for me. Sorry i was born with Christopher Reeves. So that didnt had an impact on me.
for super man is very hard to say goodbye to loise laine . super man is very humble when it comes with girls. i like when superman never tels to girls what he thinks. very humble man .
Honestly the second best Clark Kent after Reeves. As much as I like Henry, his Clark was just a rugby player in preppy clothes. Brandon was a complete awkward 6ft tall nerd.
I always suspected Lois knew that Clark was Superman because even in this film he often talks to Clark referring to Superman and even when he talks to Superman he refers to what Clark told her. I think she was holding the game because he wanted him to reveal the truth to her, without making her forget it like in Supeman II, so he often makes fun of him with targeted digits. If you notice underneath Lois she is irritated by Clark, the lift scene where she greets him strangely, as if she was thinking, "Does he really think I'm that stupid?" However there is also that she never talked to Jason about Clark, not even about Superman spoke to him, because she basically doesn't want to talk to the son of the father who left. However in the CW Crisis on Infinite Earths TV crossover it turns out that Clark and Lois of this universe eventually got married and Jason is Clark's legitimate son, so, I presume, that in the end the two of them are clarified.
Thats what it was like in the cartoon show: 'Superman The Animated Series'. Lois secretly always knew and was waiting on Superman to feel comfortable enough to tell her the truth. However I dont think thats the case in this particular film.
Well, strange because Lois often quotes Clark in front of Superman and looks for answers on Superman from Clark and often seems annoyed by Clark's too clumsy behavior, but he escapes Richard's suspicions when he is doing 2 + 2 between Clark and Superman. Lois then is not a fool and understands that Clark and Superman disappeared and returned in the same period and then you don't forget the person with whom you had a relationship so intimate as to conceive a child. You feel some things in your blood and I think that in the end Lois knows that Clark is Superman. After all, even in the classic films with Reeve she discovers it or senses it. In the end, for someone who is almost always with Clark Kent, the doubt that Superman comes to her.
@@thebreznev81 Hhmm well thats an interesting perspective. I guess I never noticed that. I'll have to watch it again since its now on Netflix here in America. Now that I think about it... Theres a scene in the office where Lois' boyfriend, Richard asks her how tall Clark is then compares him to superman and Lois laughs it off like Richard was joking.
n fact, I refer to that scene. Lois, in my opinion, at that juncture tries to mislead Richard about his Superman-like ideas of Clark. She laughs at her to ease the spirits and make Richard himself forget it. Of course Clark has listened to everything and does something awkward to endorse Richard's mistake of thought.
@@thebreznev81 True... Shes very passive aggressive every time Richard mentions Superman too. I dont know if youre looking too deep into it or if i need to rewatch and look closely. Haha if only producers would show up to comic con events then we both could ask if Lois knew the whole time who Superman's secret😅💯 indentity was
I think I've always loved Brandon Routh's Reporter Clark the best out of all the cinematic Supermans. I mean Reeve is the best all round but his Clark is obviously a bit dated. Routh's Clark is quite adorably awkward, without being overly goofy. Cavill's Clark was too much like Superman to work as a proper disguise. His farm boy Clark with Martha and Jonathan Kent was more convincing.
1:40 Lois: “Clark is well- Clark: *Smiling in anticipation* Lois: “Well.. He’s Clark.” Clark: *Shrugs softly with the same smile as if to say: ‘I’ll take that’* I don’t know why that has newly began to amuse me. Something about Clark just threading the line between silently saying: “I’ll take that.” And an ironic; “Well-“ REALLY amuses me for some reason. Never noticed it when I saw the movie for the first time until now. XD
1:48 It's a throwaway line that they don't go into detail about it, but it's nice to know that Jimmy Olsen is a real friend to Clark. Not Superman. Clark. Unlike Lois, he likes Clark for Clark and he's his friend for no reason other than that. He talks about him when he's gone and presumably misses him, while Lois could only think about Superman and spared no second thought to Clark until he was back. Clark basically has to shove himself in Lois' face to get her to even spend a few seconds of conversation with him and when she does, it's not him she wants to talk about but herself or Superman. But Jimmy misses Clark when he's not around and doesn't need to be reminded of him. I make it sound like he's got a mancrush on him, but my point is: Get yourself a Jimmy before you get yourself a Lois. Jimmy's a real one.
The problem with this (and Christopher Reeve's Superman) is that he was Superman disguised as Clark - and he made Clark out to be a wimp (sort of a teen boy's fantasy of "if you knew who I really was, you'd be sorry!"). But later versions had the character being Clark Kent and Superman was just a role he played. THAT is the reason Lois never looked at Clark. She was never going to go for a stuttering man who never let her see him.
''Oh hey Clark, welcome back, it's great to see you, you've gotta tell me what you've been up to the last 5 years. Before that though, fun fact, I was saved by Superman today, which was lucky cause he's not been around for....oh about 5 years!''
