@@whynot1548 why is that a problem? If he believes humanity is perfect and strives to be one of them then why wouldn't he have a childlike wonder when saving people for the first time
@@UthmaanXDFire He doesn't believe humanity is perfect, he's fought plenty of evil humans. And he isn't naive, he just believes that most people are good, and worth protecting.
So many nods to Superman history in this clip...... The Fleisher suit, passing by the phone BOOTH like Chris did, but then changing back IN the phone booth, "Friend", the lifted car, the classic belt buckle in the trunk, "a BIRD. a PLANE.... and of course the Daily Planet building in all its glory. Not to mention the pure innocence Tyler Hoechlin brings back to the Man of Steel....
You mean phone booth? LoL I could see some very confused people at a photo hut in Chinatown or something, being sworn to silence about Clark changing in their dark room.
some people may see this as "foreshadowing" on martha kent's part, but i see this as martha being the reason clark fulfilled her dream. to see her son fly. it's fantastic how superman & lois gave clark's birth and adoptive parents so much influence, hammering home the fact that Superman can't be Superman without the ones he loves.
I agree. I was about to leave a comment saying such. People get so antagonistic when you mention you don't like the trunkless suit. Plus, it look so dirty and dark. Even if they adjusted it a bit but stayed with the brighter colors and trunks it would be fine. I just don't care for the dark suit, unshaven look. But oh well, I guess we'll just have to wait it out.
Picks up hat….. “Thanks my mum made it for me”. Bro how do people walk past wholesome folks like this everyday and not acknowledge the F out of it. I’ve met a few clark Kent’s in my life and you never forget them. Humble, kind and just trying to live a genuine life. How do people like these exist? And not get enough recognition or love…..
This is the best thing created for the Superman character since Superman I in 1978. This is how you bring the character to modern days, without losing its soul. He's hopeful, charismatic, a good person, and HUMAN.
Yes! Yes!! And more YES!!! Tyler Hoechlin has forever solidified is place next to Christopher Reeve as the best live action Superman ever, IMHO. He makes you believe again!
@@RobertK1993 Henry was pretty much nothing like Superman and lacked all of Superman's fundamental traits. And his Clark Kent was just Superman in glasses. Not even an effort to try and make the 2 seem like different people.
Good thing he put his glasses inside his coat before just throwing everything on the ground. They show him being careful with his glasses almost every time like that's what we're thinking about.
This is Arrowverse. Lois and Clark were born out of the Arrowverse/Supergirl. They have David Ramsey’s Diggle. Even if they later reneged and put them on a different Earth, it’s still Arrowverse.
When I first saw a pic of Tyler H as Superman, I didn't think he quite had the right look. But he owns the character, and expresses what, IMHO, is the essence of Superman, better than just about anyone who has put on the costume. Always a pleasure to see him - and nice that he is so often given a good script with which to work.
I only wish we could get him for the next decade as the Big Blue Boy Scout! CW/WB have really done a disservice to the incredible cast and crew of this show and the fans by cutting their run so short!
He’s the best modern interpretation of Superman hands down. Christopher Reeve will always be THE standard against which all live action Supermen are judged, but Tyler has solidified his place standing tall right next to him!
I don't know if anyone notices or see the comparisons but it seems like this show draws inspiration or material from Man of steel and i dont mean exact things but the context or the lines are somewhat similar in some respect
Visually it looks very MoS. The actual material feels like a complete 180 to it. Superman is a ray of hope for everyone in the world. He saves more people in this clip then he does in the MoS movie. Superman actually smiles in this because he doesn’t in MoS, BvS or JL. I don’t mean Clark, I mean superman.
The creators.of Superman probably never dreamed of how many different Superman iterations there would be. This series is a great one. One of the few actual good new things still worth watching in 2024
I just noticed that the actress who played Martha Kent played Lt. Jenna D'Sora, Data's love interest in the TNG episode "In Theory". Wild to see her 30 years later.
I'm surprised that very few people seem to have caught that "My Mom made it." Is the same line Dean Cain's Superman used in the Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman pilot (to a kid Cain's Superman is saving, who comments on the costume). The great thing is all the brilliantly done callbacks-- to the Fleischer cartoons, Action Comics 1, "like a bird or a plane", "My Mom made it" is they're great bonuses but the emotional beats of the scene still work if you don't know them, and it's beautiful.
I love the scene from the beginning of Superman and Lois when he saves the kid from the car that was somehow flying through the air. Although they tried to be a little to meta in this episode when they have the woman come up to him and describe what happened saying how he flew like a "bird or aa plane' or something. I don't have a problem with that. The problem is she's pointing in the direction she's running towards, not away from, where it happened. So how did she see it if she's only now going over there to see what happened?
I love they went back all the way to 1938 the very first issue of Action Comics number one with him holding the car. If anyone gets a chance to take a look at that you'll see what I'm talking about!
I like that they used a PT Cruiser for the car, lol. Since this scene takes place in the past, and they came out like 2000, it makes sense. But they're also one of the only pseudo-modern cars that looks kinda old-fashioned and "1930s-ish". Great production decision.
This superman is great. But everyone is forgetting how amazing tom welling's superman was. This show is heavily inspired by the tv show smallville. Id say Tom welling is the best since Christopher reeve. This guy comes close and he definitely does superman justice.
Took me a minute to work out where I knew the mother from; she played Data's girlfriend in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode 'In Theory'. One of my favourite episodes. At least, I think it's her.
Every flashback after Crisis happened is on earth prime. The Earth's didn't change at a certain point in time, it has always been earth prime post crisis
I love how everyone calls him Superman or Kal-El......his real name is Clark Kent end of story....he's the most human of all superheroes yet is practically a god....He's perfect in every way....This show showed us his REAL human side....just wonderful
