You really want to say that Capa didn't know any opening theory? I don't think so. Agadmator would have mentioned that at least once during the Capablanca Saga....
Agadmator: "It's a really crazy game. It just really shows what incredible positions Nakamura is able to play, which is just very impressive." 0:12 Agadmator: "And it was in this position that Hikaru Nakamura resigned the game" 10:58
Because Magnus is clearly winning with his massive control in the center, yet Nakamura found a way to turn the game back into anyone's hands with his positioning.
Nakamura is an insane player, but the problem is that he blunders at least once a game. All he needed to do was give his king breathing space and he was probably going to achieve either a drawn position or a winning position. Though the way he took back control despite Magnus' super centre was impressive.
@@thelegendofsheboo7048 exactly also the knight isn't that bad I mean after all if the knight isnt on the rim then it is always controlling 8 squares while the bishop is only better in the endgame because there are less pawns
Really.???? I don't think so....A Monster Knight pair can sometimes hold their own against Bishop pair from Hell... But a worst pair..? I don't think Bishops have chances
or the coin fell under the couch and he was too lazy to get it. or who knows maybe it fell on the floor and his dog ate it before he could see how it landed. typical medo
or even he said that so people would stop bothering him about the pictures, but keeps choosing the picture he finds best in quality, despite the coin factor
I commented on Chess Base India's video that showed these two gentlemen play the game out and I have to say again that this is probably my favourite game of Carlsen's. Its all so clean and smooth and very enjoyable to watch.
I do like #agadmator’s riff on “and as of move 8 we have a completely new game. “ It helps dispel the notion that the players are just repeating 20 or so moves from an old, dusty playbook.
Very good chess break down video sir . It’s hard to follow sometimes watching just the game but you break it down beautifully allowing for people like me to soak in more info than just watching the match. Ty
According to Stockfish, Hikaru made 3 mistakes in this game, each time losing about 1 pawn equivalent. Mistake #1: 6. e4 Nf4 is a mistake because it cedes the center to Carlsen after trades an 8 d4. Better move was Nf6, keeping pawn and knight in the center. Mistake #2: 10. a3 a6 was passive for Hikaru, cause now the center is in complete control by Carlsen, allowing Carlsen to advance the central pawns. Better move was f6, because even though it opens up a check by Bc4, Hikaru would atleast block the center pawn advances. Mistake #3: As noted 35. Rb8 lets Carlsen exploit the un-protected back rank of Hikaru.
RU-vid recommended this to me today, I'm grateful. Great work. I've been playing chess since a was a kid. Lately I just play once or twice from time to time, but always is a ton of fun
I am a really bad chess player and I have never found the move, until today. It took me a couple of minutes but I found the grand master move. I have probably been watching this channel for a year or two now.
After Kh6 h4 f5, instead of Rc7, Another élégant possibility is Rh8+, Kg7, then Qc3+ : = game over, as only possible Move is Qf6, then Rh7 Wins the queen
What does he mean at 1:44 that as of move 8 we have a completely new game. As in nobody has ever reached that exact position before? Is it that common that same moves are made in chess this had to be noted? Just wondering.
@agamator can you explain how to play against a queen when having two rooks, but not just when kings are left, but when there's still pawns. I know I have to hide my kinh from queen checks, but how do I make progress?
I’m not a very good Chess player, but I think the basic idea is to grab pawns while keeping the queen busy defending, then trade the rooks for the queen and march a pawn across.
Magnus missed a forced mate @min 10:35 after blacks move 47. f5. Carlsens move 48. should've been Rh8#. Black looses Queen & Rook for white Pawn & Rook, followed by mate in 8
At 10:35 why not go to C1 with the white queen? Wouldn't that be better? That would either force the black king to move or the pawn(G6) to move to G5. Then you could move the white pawn to G5 to check the black king. After the king retreats you take the white queen to C7 or the pawn at F2 toF4. Alright I'm getting dizzy by all the thinking
Hi Agadmator! At 8:40, what if you brought your rook to e1 instead. If black captures the pawn with the queen you can check the black king forcing black to capture the rook with its remaining rook. White can then capture the black queen with its own queen. would this work you think?
U just bring the king closer U just bring the king closer U just bring the king closer U just bring the king closer U just bring the king closer U just bring the king closer U just bring the king closer U just bring the king closer
Agadmator you don't have to keep apologizing everytime you turn off your volume, it's distracting and takes away from the focus that we are trying to pay to commentary of the video. Simply turn it off and keep talking, or leave it on if you like since we don't hear a difference.
