Kids in highschool??...that hitted me hard dude, I remember playing in 2016 and waiting for updates and talking to my friends about it all the time, the 2 players mode and draft and stuff...literally an hour ago I played my second game in the day for the season tokens and kept losing to Mega knight and evo firecracker and E golem and was like No this is it...not touching this game anymore, I feel so sad seeing how the game changed, I stopped in 2018 and came back this year and my god it is not fun anymore...no strategy whatsoever just spam and broken cards.

When EVO Archer came out. My friend returned to the game at about 1000 trophies and he has the new evolution and grinded to arena 11 in two days to get Little Prince. He only lost games to people who also had the new broken evolution (Archers).

I stopped playing years ago when I saw they released a battle pass that you couldn't even get for free no matter how much you played. I didn't think a battle pass belonged in a game like this, but I thought that would be the worst of it, seeing a grown man nearly cry over what used to be a fun strategic game is actually really depressing. I play quite a bit of Brawl Stars and that's the game I switched to after I stopped playing, they recently removed the ftp battle pass even though it was every other season. I found that disheartening but at least there are still enough free resources to justify playing to a certain degree. Lower-level characters can usually outplay higher level characters if they are good enough and you have the option to only need 1 maxed out player at a time if you want to push trophies. Having to spend hundreds of dollars every meta shift is honestly just disturbing. It makes me wonder why Drew and Frank switched places as community managers for the games🤔

i had to quickly pause and say how brilliant that idea is to tie level 15 "elite" cards with card masteries!! I can't tell you all how many times i've messaged the "support team" urging them to better utilize card masteries (since many cards still have a "coming soon" under the 3rd level...) It's very silly how often #SUPERCELL has introduced new elements (I.E. Champions) to only forget about them, or make one LITTLE PRINCE completely broken! One "plus" with Queens Journey has been seeing an influx of people trying to utilize Monk, but he & Skeleton King are the most underutilized Champions and SuperCell could care less about these features they introduce to completely forget about once they've milked that cash cow! 9:10 That's exactly the point. In the past, people were happy about updates, new cards, there were so many changes, of course not every change is automatically good. New cards were really cool, nowadays you're not happy at all because you know you can't really use the card anyway because it's too underleveled. And by the time you've maxed the card, or maxed it out by paying to win, it doesn't gets nerved, the card gets dead, because the nerv is too hard, like it makes the card useless, like the evo firecracker who dies one shot arrows or the evo bomber, who connect's really bad to the tower and has now 2 cycles. Nowadays, the annoying ones aren't really annoying either, they kill the cards with every balance change. So many evolution cards, e.g. the fireworker, the recruits, and the ice spirit is simply the worst evolution. In the past, people were extremely happy about a legendary, they would shout. If I get a legendary from a giant chest today, I'll be as happy as if I'd gotten a normal card. Or back when you and your whole class or friends played through the clan chest (which no longer exists) for hours, nights, just so everyone could get the 10/10 chest. Today you simply wouldn't be able to do that because you literally only know one person who still plays Clash Royale and the rest of the clan is inactive, just like the 2-3 players who are taking part in the current clan war (boat). I've been playing the game for 8 years now, isn't that an enormous amount of loyalty? I've also pumped a huge amount of money into the game, in addition to the 5 Euro passes that I get every month, but I'm still missing more than 12 evolution cards (more than 12 different troops, I don't mean 12 cards for one troop. I wonder what my game would look like if I'd never paid in. In general, all the battle banners are so unnecessary at the moment, the only thing you can flex with is if you were somehow first place globally or in the tournament.

completely agree w everything you said in this video. i’ve been a casual f2p player but stopped playing around the time they first added Evolutions simply because i lost interest in the game after playing for so many years. but since then i’ve tried playing every now and then, but i couldn’t win/compete with anyone. all these new meta decks and evolutions that i simply don’t have and can’t invest in. hell, to this day i STILL haven’t unlocked the Archer Queen. i’m fine w meta changes, but the fact that these new “needed” cards are locked behind hours of grinding and pay walls is insane. it’s impossible to catch up. thank you for voicing up and speaking out against all of Supercell’s bullsh*t

I noticed something else about these updates - they give passive value to the player. You don't need to trade off anything to use a tower troop or evolution, it's strictly a buff. With new cards, they may be strong, but they cost a deck slot and elixir to use. Even with champions, they cost a deck slot and elixir to use the ability. The main issue I saw people complaining about was the 3 card cycle with them from a fundamental design perspective (not a balance perspective) It's unengaging for both players if you introduce passive value into games and take away agency. You can't outplay a tower troop like you can pressure your opponent enough so they can't use their champion ability or play their wincon. So it's not even the monetary aspects, it's also just the design of the features put in

as a f2p player until probably 3 weeks ago, I fully agree. They even nerfed monetizing when they removed book of books from pass royale. The current state of the game is so bad, they even released offers for the troops in goblin queen’s journey so you barely even have to play it. Thankfully, the devs made it to where you still gain trophies if you lose but it barely gives anything. They should honestly have done it more like path of legends. it’s pathetic to be 100% honest.

I left 2 years ago because I knew it would be trash later on… I redownload it and I lost my mind about how levels matter. I lost 7 to 9 games just because I didn’t have a maxed out deck. This game used to be so competitive and they also added WAY too many arenas.

I want to point out that when some bugs happend that was a huge benefit for the f2p players, like you could reroll Lucky Drops or even the chest drops bug that gave you a insane amount of cards, they immediatly fixed, like day 1, on the other hand bugs that legit hurt all player base they took months or never even fixed.

The game was so much more enjoyable pre 2019. Getting several cards released frequently that were actually fairly balanced is something i miss, but instead we get 15 different shop offers daily, broken cards that get nerfed only after they sell deals to max them. idk why they couldn't have just gone the cosmetic route similar to brawlstars.

If the community all come together and leave the game for a week after an update they will surely notice that but no one doing it.

Not to mention, in the goblin road game mode, the goblin tower is identical to a princess tower, but it's another tower troop you have to level.

I also quit the game because its very hard for free to play players. Imagine facing a level 15 tower troop that basically outmatch your common princess tower in every possible aspect. That's very horrible.

I was part of the Spanish community of CR and I spent 1 whole year of my life hoping this game will change since the update for losers. Even with all the difficulties I achieved Definitive champions 3 times and it took me 4 months to have my first evolution but also 8 MONTHS TO MAX MY FIRST MAIN DECK AT LVL 15, you know what's "funny" about that? With the pass of the time the meta changed drastically, until the point that my lovely main deck now is almost impossible to play, is no longer meta. I tried to use new decks, even new cards that I didn't liked just to fit in the new meta, taking my time to gain skill in those decks, but it wasn't enough because, those cards wasn't lvl 15 so I was always stuck in the ladder, switching decks desperately and consistently (I forgot to say it but them also put as a limit the lvl 15 in path of legends) and also knowing the next meta, that new deck which I was using was going to be useless, because the new broken cards coming. I don't even need to talk about the horrible balance changes that come each 2 season and the new cards or the exaggerated offers for cards that will be nerfed. The meta is so weird that sometimes is just cycling and exploting broken cards. Skill doesn't exist in Clash Royale anymore, and if you still believing that, keep lying yourself, maybe like that you can ignore the fact that Clash Royale is no longer the game it used to be. I quit...

Had spent $500 or so across 5+ years of playing on this game. Dropped hundreds if not thousands of hours into it. Deleted it the second evolutions dropped. I still watch youtube content because the game will always hold a special place in my heart. I’ve always said CR was very similar to chess to me - luck is nearly irrelevant, and winning is nearly always skill based. But drastically changing the entire meta of the game every month with new hundred dollar evolutions made skill much less relevant. It’s heartbreaking. I will be there when a replacement comes along, from anyone other than $uper¢ell. RIP CR

For real, I’m a f2p player that is trying to push ladder while still being level 14. Going against double evolutions and losing because of 1 level gap interactions every single game is getting very very frustrating. And now I’ve just been mindlessly playing for the last few months collecting wild cards just to finally get to level 54 and be done with this. Level 15 killed this game.

I pretty much quit when level 14 was released, then the mythicals and level 15 turned me completely off. I spent thousands of dollars to get my account to 13,just so I could compete higher on the ladder,then my account was made basically obsolete with the snap of the fingers. I’ll never spend money on video games like that again,because of the insane micro transactions in clash royale and Pokémon go. Completely done.

I think that evolutions were good. But the issue was that they were so paywalled. They have to add a completely different trophy road for evolutions. The way for them to get money would just be to spend money for maybe limited time boosters that double trophies gained. Or maybe each arena could have its own evolution unlocked (or multiple)

1:19 They could had done tower troops alot better and a Clash Royal ripoff added tower troops in such a f2p friendly way that it blows my mind nowadays. The tower troops levels up with your king tower and you unlock them by getting to certain arenas for free, CR could had done that but they would much rather kick their own reputation to the ground for cents.(sadly the CR clone is no longer with us sadly but it was Chaos Battle League)

That suggesting that Brad made about mastery to unlock level 15 is the single best idea I've ever heard with clash royale, it would honestly fix everything they've messed up

I honestly feel with the latest update that they did a step in the right directions, 3 new cards, 3!!! finally, they seems back at releasing multiple cards, and the new mode i mean is not amazing but is a breath of fresh air, i think if they keep releasing updates like this every like 3 months the game is gonna go back being interesting, i dont know u but with this update i felt the same hype i was feeling back in 2018 with card releases. Also i agree on the f2p bad progression system, and i think a pity system or a cycle like the one for chests applied to boxes could be amazing and balance the now only luck based progression. overall i'm finally back playing it consistently, after 3 years of being bored of it, and i hope this new trend continues

There is one thing every supercell player forgets about, and that is that all the games give supercell revenue, all the games' money go to the same company, a little bit over two years ago, when clash royale was popping off, they released level 10 & 11 into Brawl Stars, Brawl Stars seemed to be dead, Clash Royale seemed to be the way to go (my timeline might be a little off). Now, later, when Brawl Stars is popping off, they killed Clash Royale, SEEMINGLY, but Clash Royale will come back, it might take years but watch my words, when Brawl Stars gets another downfall, another supercell game will start popping off, like Clash Royale, Clash of Clans, or even Squad Busters.

I really don’t understand Royale, I still play clash of clans and they do their pass so much better, yeah they made it two more dollars but compensated by giving the pass more rewards, it gives you multiple runes, multiple books, and a bank you can fill, etc. so much value, mean while clash royales pass is twice and much and isn’t worth it at all 🤦🏻‍♂️

Let's not forget about card mastery gems. Each card used to be a potential *450* gems from masteries, now it's only *150* per card.

I'm an og player who quit when level 15 was announced the same week that I finally got my main deck maxed at 14. Logged in last week to see Dagger Duchess and evolutions and uninstalled again. I miss when playing the game was enough to earn a maxed deck, and there weren't gimmicks like tower troops and evolutions to make sure that normal people can't compete.

I was consistently a top ladder F2P player (never spent a dime on this game) and I quit about a year ago when evolutions first released. It was super obvious evos were a cash grab and just a horrible update bc they gave a free advantage with no drawback (so who wouldn’t play them), and you could only get them with money. I bet anyone would prefer an update such as 2v2 ladder over p2w evos and tower troops where something fun actually changed about the game rather than more overpowered cards f2p players can’t get. And what’s with the 20 offers in the shop page? It’s so clear devs don’t gaf about the player base anymore. Nowadays I rarely open up the game, and when I do it’s to play a triple draft friendly battle game with my friend. No evos, no tower troops, no bs, just all strategy. I used to play this game religiously every day and now I open it once a month max. It’s a shame what happened to the game I loved, and honestly it’s easier now to pretend clash Royale is still in its old glory days rather than what it became- a dead cash grab game.

The main issue for me is that these evolutions are forcing us to play specific cards because they're op. Just completely ruins the creativity in the game, and tower troops force a specific meta where you can't even attempt to play certain decks.

something you're overlooking with Goblin Queens Journey is that it drained a ton of resources from f2p players, since none of us are maxed, we had to spend a ton of wild cards and gold on our new goblin decks that will be completely irrelevant in 3-5 months

The dagger duchess was the nail in the coffin. The funniest part is that since dagger duchess is so OP, the top ladder deck last month was basically a deck where no troop had to cross the bridge to win. Simply defend + princess + rocket.

Yes getting evos is really hard for f2p players. Or we need to spend a lot of money. As a 14 yrs f2p players I like clash royale yes it's frustrating to unlock evos. I also only have 4 evos. But I'm happy bro. I'm playing cr for 3.5 years ( I didn't played it for 2 yrs ). And those cannoneer and dagger duchess update was pretty good. Clash royale is not dead yet. We should just play it consistently and develop our skills by playing more and more and watching cr RU-vids vdo like Ian77 ( best CR RU-vidr) and brad, Ryley and others. Clash royale is also being pretty kind for f2p players and giving some free rewards encouraging to play it more. It is my fav game and second is coc. Btw that old CR was soo good. This makes me genuinely sad because I remember a lot of fun features that were really fun to play. eg. Classic Clan wars, New cards in 2016/17 heck - I still remember when they added the barbarian barrel and it was still a huge thing. I just wish there was a way to restart and start again with normal updates because this game would've been awesome.

Gameplay isn't even fun anymore. Even with an overpowered deck, it will always be: select a card, place a card. No customization, no progression that feels worthwhile, just placing cards.

My little sister started playing a few weeks ago and the amount of stuck players in lower arenas with evolution cards and high level cards is absurd. The amount of Lvl 14 Pekkas I found while playing on her account sometimes is wild

Calling supercell generous for gifting an evolution shard is the same as calling someone generous after they've starved someone and given them a crumb. They made the issue that called for a solution so they could seem like they cared.

1 Year ago I quit clash royale and started playing brawl stars. It blows my mind how differently the clash royale team treats their players vs the brawl star team.

the moment i quit was when they added the second evo slot and locked it to king lv 15. i had been on and off playing for around 6 years on my account, but actively pushing ladder and grinding every day for only a year or two. i already knew having 2 evo slots would totally ruin whatever strategy the game had left, but i was at king level 13 when the update dropped and knowing i'd have to use 1 evolution against most people at my arena (7k trophies) for YEARS was the final straw.

First they nerfed the battle pass. This made me stop buying it each month. Then they announced Level 15. I uninstalled and never came back.

I made an account three days ago that was entirely F2P. Soon as I hit electro valley I can’t win a single game due to over leveling
