Many thanks Hayden. Yes she sounded great from the cab. I originally planned to film out the window at Danemoor Bank but decided there was no need as the open window provided all the sound required! They were a great bunch of guys to share the journey with.

Absolutely grand video, so pleased you filmed the whole trip, and the engine room footage was great. Believe me, it sounded great at the front window !

Excellent video Chris. The 56 certainly sounded great from within the cab! Also enjoyed listening to the banter between yourself and the guys on the engine. Interesting to see the stretch of line between Wymondham Abbey and the boundary signal, and the engine room of the 56.

Thanks very much Stevie. The steadiness of the video is purely down to the tripod and the smooth ride from the 56.

You certainly had the peak of traction on BR rails. Would love to get into the profession myself, but at 37 time is fast running out. All the best for your retirement.

This is the best recording I've ever heard of a 56, cant thank you enough for uploading it. I used to run alongside them pulling away at Didcot because I loved the sound so much. Great to see inside the engine room to, with the engine running, that is so rare. Would anyone be nuts enough to leave the camera in there or actually stand and film the sound in the engine room when the power is being applied and then shut off? A gradual build up of power would sound great! :)

Cheers Richard. Very enjoyable this was and agree that it gives a new perspective of the MNR, as well as giving me ideas for other spots to try filming from.

Wicked mate, what an opportunity! I agree with Hayden It definitely sounds just as good from inside the cab. Very good cab side, interesting to see the mid Norfolk from another perspective.

Great bunch of videos that you've uploaded over the last few days (Sept.'13) culminating with this superb (and steady) video of your MNR Class 56 cab ride. 10-out-of-10 STEVIE B.

Cheers Mike! Yes I bet you enjoyed the trip. It certainly looked like it from the photos I've seen of this working and trust me, it sounded great from the cab!

I at last got round to watching this! Fab video Chris! Was interesting to see parts of the line we can't normally see from the track side. hope they can get the crossing double soon at Kimberly Park. I know they are waiting on the council on it.

T hank you; enjoyed that. Just a thought....if you placed the camera nearer the screen, even at the cost of a bumpier ride, you would get the world outside in focus instead of the windscren.

Cheers Steve. I remember watching your 47375 cab ride (may have commented on it) - that was so unlucky having 375 fail on you, and I remember your tape running out too!

I love this video. 5/5 I hope white van man who tried to dodge the crossing lights was reported.

Yes he was. He had a private plate which made it easier to remember when reporting to the police! Never heard back from them though.

How do you actually get to go on these cab rides?
@cmeonthemove
@cmeonthemove 10 лет назад
I'm a volunteer there but the MNR also offer cab rides at galas for a donation to the loco shed appeal - £25 for home locos or £30 for visiting locos.
