This is the test we’ve all been waiting for! How will Yamaha’s all-new R1M stack up against heavily updated competition from Aprilia, BMW, and Ducati? And what about Kawasaki’s ZX-10R? Is it still a force to be reckoned with or just a measuring stick to see how far we’ve come? I think Ontwowheels is the best motorcycle show on RU-vid right now. I love how they do a motovlogish segment when they give opinions of the bikes instead of just shots of the bikes going past over and over again like some other shows do. Zack and Ari and that other guy you guys are the best!

Dunno what bike to get but the ducati and the bmw are out .because the local dealer riders treated my 1098 real bad they are useless will go with aprilla or r1 just to avoid this useless dealership

SBKeddie I just wish the quality was there. Just can't afford to drop 15k+ on a bike that would be lucky to have 25k miles on before it is scrap. Dat resale value :(

Resale value is definitely a joke, but mainly because most people dont know what an Aprilia is. I dont see a lack in quality though. Every manufacturer has horror stories but I havent seen any first hand..

Seth Portland Have owned one for 2 years with nearly 20k miles. Only issue was an exhaust servo which was covered under warranty. And FYI, that servo was manufactured by Mikuni, who makes these servo's for more than a few bikes. So to summarize, the Aprilia has been in no way, shape or form, any less reliable then anything else I've owned.

Great review. Seems really unbiased and lacks all the "this bike is the best, this bike sucks" kind of crap that most of these shootouts seem to have. I was really set on getting the 2015 S1000RR after I sold my 2012 of the same model but now I just can't make up my mind with that new RSV4 out! I'll be keeping my Panigale (899) since I love the thing despite its flaws but thanks for totally making me second guess myself on my next liter bike... AGAIN, haha. That also looks like a gnarly highside - glad to see only the bike suffered any major injuries, that's no joke of a getoff form the looks of it. Ride safe!

Pavle Ilievski The main reason I ride hondas is because they are reliable and well built. I hate fixing bikes and hondas keep me riding instead of fixing. Some people care more about top end hp, some people care about looks more, all that matters is you love what you are riding. Aprilia is probably the only european bike I would trust for reliability. From what I hear Aprilla is the honda of europe in terms of reliability. I love their designs and innovation. Honda needs to start getting more innovative with their bikes.

CycleCruza I know all what you want about your bike that is mid range power i watch all your vids. We own Rsv APRC 12, and after Aprilia we Have CBR1000RR 2013 TT Legends edition, Biggest different between them is: Brakes, weight difference and aprilia is much more smaller end easyer to ride, but not for the city ride with a lot of traffic.

lol You guys are awesome! specially when you guys said it's not what the best bike is out there, it's about what bike speaks to you and what bike you want to be seen. pretty solid advice! if you ask me that's why I own a 2015 R1 and a 2012 1199 panigale! and yes the panigale is a ball burner! and I commute with it and yes I have a full exhaust which makes everything 10 times worse! but I get a lot of looks and it is a phenomenal bike on the race track the R1 for me is soo much smoother transmission than my panigale granted it is an 1199 and the first year of the panigales. hopefully the 1299 was able to fix that. but you're right the R1 is one of the best track bike turns soo fast and is sound amazing with a full graves exhaust on it. rock on guys thanks for a great review!

Most every review I've read or seen says the Aprilia RSV4 has a dated chassis, however they go on to say how well it handles. I guess "don't fix it if it ain't broke" still holds true.

@Ari Henning Yea, I'd choose the RSV4 too. But I think the 1100 Tuono is better on the street... 2015 Nakedbike shootout maybe ;) I love that V4 sound! Just add an Austinracing can and it kills everything that has wheels!

You guys absolutely rock. I haven't seen any video's from you since you were with "Motor Trend", so glad to find your new channel. RSV looks real good and for 6k less, the standard RSV4 seems like a really attractive option. Have you ridden the standard one? If so, are the upgrades worth the extra 6k?

+Samuel Sharpe I can answer that. For the street and casual track riding, NO the upgrades are not worth it. The RR gets the same engine, it gets the adjustable frame, so the big differences between the two are no longer worth the money. The older RSV4s, the Factory got the variable intakes, the adjustable frame and the R did not. The game has changed... if you are racing then it is probably worth it or if you are like me and just couldn't resist the limited edition...

just something yall should know for future viewers. the 2015 r1 doesn't have thrust bearings in the engine, so with heavy use or mileage, the crankshaft can walk out of position and crack directly onto the balance shaft causing a pretty nasty engine detonation. yamaha quietly updated the 2016 r1 with thrust bearings but hasn't recalled the 15s for the update.
