These are beautiful. I just find it somewhat depressing that the same 20 classics get republished into these gorgeous editions. I wish publishers would give more obscure and diverse classics a shot as well. Especially for someone like me who doesn't like to own multiple editions of books... it's hard not to already own a copy of any of these books since they're so CANON. :D
@@booksbyleynes yes I think they are following the same format (and Thomas Nelson is an arm of HarperCollins, so I think some cross-fertilisation is going on here!)
I’ve seen so many gorgeous editions of pride and prejudice / great gats , Jane sure Frankenstein over the years but can bring myself to buy one as I have my ugly old ones from school already
I adore your videos!! I would absolutely LOVE to see your full collection of Lady Cottington’s Fairy books!! I caught a glimpse of the collection in your wizard bookshelf tour and would be thrilled to see a detailed exploration! Thank you!

How gorgeous are these books! Thank you for sharing.
I was so happy to see this video, thank you for sharing it! The random pull out quote is just bizarre and really does look like a mistake since it's not the case with all the books. I'm very tempted by the Great Gatsby edition as I'm a sucker for that blue and I don't yet have a copy (I haven't been able to choose one from all the amazing ones that have come out).
I discovered these editions thanks to your video and already purchased one! I have my eye on a couple more. By the way, it looks like at least 4 more are coming - Bookdepository listed them for pre-order, including Anne of Green Gables, Peter Pan and Winnie the Pooh!
I like the classics reimagined series that you covered years ago much better. Wish that series was continuing. The quotes in that series were integrated into the text and it was so well done and enjoyable for reading.
I recently rewatched the Wizards Bookshelf video's (again haha!), and I'm REALLY eager to see your other shelves 😁 Any plans for additional shelf tours?
Their nice covers, printing etc, but I don't think I'd want OZ or Sherlock Holmes without the original illustrations. Also, even when they present the quotes chronologically, they still pull from material yet to come in the books, effectively spoiling it if you read them. Now, some people say they like spoilers, and some spoilers can be craftily done to heighten anticipation, but that requires some amount of trust. To be fair, the colour plates of the OZ books can spoil stuff to, but generally not very far ahead of where they appear.
Yes, I like having the original illustrations too! And agree that placement of the quotes is really important to avoid spoilers - your mention of trust for these is absolutely right, and exactly why having the quotes in random order for two of the books doesn't really inspire that - it's much more than just a decorative thing!)
@@BeautifulBooks True, I can see these editions being enjoyed by a big fan who likes to flip to a good quote, but personally, I like to choose my own quotes - maybe I'll make a nice book of them someday.
Well if it’s any indication, I pre-ordered all of the November releases, the Sherlock Holmes and Frankenstein books. 🙈 I also love the Great Gatsby cover but I can’t justify buying a third copy of the same book.
I got my husband Sherlock Holmes for Christmas, and i really want to get a mysterious affair at Styles next😍 i hope they release more Agatha Christie books in the painted editions
Yes, that's the problem when these pretty designs just focus on releasing the same dozen or so classics titles over and over. I'm hoping they diversify with later titles - including an Agatha Christie in the second set is a good sign I hope.
No, I wasn’t able to get a response. But interestingly, they updated their website text and advertising material to remove the reference to it being a “limited edition”…
