When you’re trying to see a monitor 30 feet away, I can see how “SAMURAI” and “SKYHAWK” would look similar...

They always try to be precise on “Jeopardy!” but every once in a while, errors do get made.
@marcpower4167
@marcpower4167 4 месяца назад
Jeopardy is known for being very accurate, though. Mistakes do happen occasionally but they're very quick to correct them. I can only think of one or two occasions where they had to bring a contestant back later because of an error in 40 years that's phenomenal.

In fairness, Mark Goodson, not the producers of Classic Concentration gave the final say on the decision in case of an emergency situation to any error & most likely agree with Alex Trebek to make a fair & right call.
@marcpower4167
@marcpower4167 10 месяцев назад
@@sacredwolf2011That's usually the case, but if the host says it on the show, they legally have to award it. Alex mentioned in his book once on wizard of odds after the contestant lost the bonus round for a car he noticed an error in the question and said "well, I think the fair thing to do is give you the car anyway". After the show the producer told him not to do that again without consulting him as they would have just replayed it with a new question. In this case, I feel like someone off camera gave Alex a signal or told him to give her the car anyway.

For those that don't remember seeing this on here, she chose "that convertible Renault."
@zachhoran
@zachhoran 5 лет назад
They let her pick the car she wanted after the commercial break, and she chose the Red Renault GTA convertible. Renault was in its last year as a car sold in the US
@wschmrdr
@wschmrdr 5 лет назад
Renault still makes vehicles. Obviously with all the insane regulations of cars and their features here, as you stated, not sold in this country. Currently partnered with Nissan and Mitsubishi.

Do you think some people intentionally lose so they can keep coming back?
@marcpower4167
@marcpower4167 3 года назад
At least one guy openly admitted to it, with a few seconds left, he needed only one more match and he said "i want to win more prizes" and stopped picking numbers. The audience and his family didn't agree but he did it anyway. Little bit a of risk gamble a $8000-$10,000 car for a chance at a few thousand more in prizes. I dunno......🤔

@@marcpower4167 I think I remember that clip. It was under the two strike format, and I think he already had one, so this strategy eventually backfired on him.

Nowadays they'd probably edit this out, fix the hardware (or roll out a closer monitor), and let her re-try. But back then, they did live-to-tape, so perfectly fine decision.
@marcpower4167
@marcpower4167 4 года назад
All the technical problems definitely threw her off. If she didn't get the car, the s*** would have hit the fan.
@doddsino
@doddsino 2 года назад
Alex's constant jabbering during the bonus round was easily the worst part of the show. By default, you almost have to wait for Alex to say "match" or "no match" before you move on to guess again, so it really eats into the time and also can cause problems with concentration when he says the wrong thing, which he did every so often.
@marcpower4167
@marcpower4167 4 месяца назад
Way better than what Orson Bean would do in the unsold pilots from 1985(?) He'd read off the squares too and on at least one occasion he made the board operator mess up and that may have cost the contestant the win.
