So good to see you back and you look to be in top form. So happy you had a baby- need to pass your talent and skills to the next generation. I love a good custard tart with lots of nutmeg. I live in the American South and it gets quite hot in the summer- so I like the custard pie cold and served with fresh berries.
If anyone else doesn’t have a deep pan, I used the following quantities for the filling: - 7 egg yolks - 60g sugar (25g in the cream, 35g in the eggs) - 400g double cream My tin is 9” wide and just under 1.5” deep. Hope this helps!

A little tip for you guys . ( its for all tarts which use a custard , And i think a lot of you already know ) When you pour the custard to the tart shell , sieve it to the tart. that way you can get rid of any lumps in your custard .

Jemma: Don't worry if the pastry tears it's quite forgiving Also Jemma: proceeds to fold said pastry, move it about, place it in a tin, rearrange it without a tear in sight. 🥴
Jemma's back! As much as we all love Spongecake Sally and Macaron Dane, Cupcake Jemma you are the OG, the one who got me hooked and the channel just isn't the same without you. So much so I yowled Jemma! It's Jemma! when the video came on, and my bf shot a quizzical look at me lol.
Awww Jemma welcome back…..that custard tart has bought back, so many wonderful memories of my nana and my mum baking this, I have 5 grandchildren, and I’m teaching them to bake and cook meals, for some reason I have forgotten this one, so this Saturday with 2 of my granddaughters aged 4 and 6 I shall enjoy baking this with them. I remember making this at school back in the 60s. We had to pour in a little custard and bake, then go on adding a bit at a time and baking it till it set. Such a faff!
Sally and Dane have done a good job keeping the fanbase entertained and hope they'll frequently appear in future vids, but it is also so good seeing you again.
