Part 1 of 2: Classic Game Room reviews RED FACTION ARMAGEDDON from Volition, SYFY and THQ for Xbox 360, also available for Playstation 3 PS3 and PC. RED FACTION! This time it's a bug hunt where you tear mars apart and put it back together again with your Nanoforge. In addition to a challenging and fun single player campaign those who embark on their Red Faction Armageddon on Xbox 360, PS3, PC and OnLive can also play Infestation Mode (which is a survival mode like Horde in Gears of War) and Ruin Mode where you tear everything to shreds for points. This Classic Game Room review of Red Faction Armageddon has gameplay from Red Faction Armageddon showing Red Faction Armageddon game play from Xbox 360 (also for PS3, PC and OnLive) in HD action with gameplay footage.

I enjoyed Red Faction Guerrilla for the record xD So many people seem to dislike it... why! This looks pretty good too.

mark its called 2nd person view 1rst person of course looking in there own eyes 2nd sees from the side but not full body of the player 3rd camera all the way back like gears but i dont need to tell you this 8D your the pro

I tried the demo. It was surprisingly fun, actually. The magnet gun is one of the best weapons this gen. Instant classic!

Hm, I actually prefer the linearity of this one over the former entry. Blowing up bridges is fun and all...but only for a few times. This game greatly enhances your geo destruction capabilities and the magnet gun and nanoforge just make it a lot better. I got bored with the barren wasteland of Guerrilla. I'd rather be stuck with aliens which I can cave in with a few explosives and hammer swings. But I'm probably in the minority.

Playing through it and I'd definitely call your preference a strength over Guerilla. Also because I watch a lot of monster movies and it feels great playing through a bug hunt. In the end though the games are all pretty different from one another and I can't really compare them. Guerilla's sandbox is enjoyably different from Armageddon's tunnel.

The very things people dismiss this game for compared to Guerrilla leads me to believe they never actually played the original PC/PS2 game, which was what actually made the game great. Seeing comments like "you spend too much time in a cave/mind and its not free roam".....well, neither was the original.

I just bought this for £5 new from Gamestation, looks like a lot of fun for a fiver. I wish I could find Guerilla for that price, in fact I wish I could find it at all. It's one of the rarest games that I've kept my eye out for.

It may not have the same gameplay as Red Faction Guerilla but it's at least closer in story to Red Faction 1 than the abomination that was Red Faction 2. I can understand what they were trying to do with Armageddon: Getting back to the roots of Red Faction.

Gears of war? I respect your opinion but there is no cover system in the game. Dead space I agree too since the aliens you fight share a close resemblance to necromorphs

in this game, when a big mean alien mother hugger is about to rip you a new one, use a gun. and if that dont work, use more gun.

played the 1st 30 minutes on Onlive, this is definitely one to look out for, looks like they made up for the mistake they made called Guerila, this is much more fun.

I personally enjoyed it more, although I think most people would like Guerrilla better. They play very differently just like they each play very differently from the first. Basically Guerrilla is a free roaming, open world game, ala GTA or Far Cry. This one is more scripted and linear with "heavier" combat. They are both so cheap it'd be worth it to get both.

Well didn't mean I thought RFA was a cover shooter. I just meant the feel of the game like how both RFA and Gears have that same Sci-Fi/Military feel, the whole sarcastic and bravado attitude of the characters. Some of the Aliens reminded me of the monster locust types like this really big Alien the Ravager I think it was called reminded me of the Berserker I could be wrong but I thought they definitely had some similarities.

Alot people hated this game I personally enjoyed it it was a good mix of Dead Space and Gears of War both of which are games I also enjoyed. It wasn't a deep storytelling experience it was just a fun game to destroy stuff and enemies.

Never played a RED FACTION game. until i went to get DEAD ISLAND and it was out of stock. but there was ARMAGGEDON sat on the shelf for£9.99. so i picked up a copy not knowing what it was gonna be like. and what a pleasant surprise. i think it,s a very well made game. especially in todays climate. cough cough F1 2011. all hype no substance. well too many bugs for a AAA title. but yeah really like armaggedon. thinking of going back for Guerrilla. SHOULD I ?

Let this be a lesson, you can not have less freedom in a sequel. Armageddon is a great game, but why would they limit you by so much. It would have been much better to have an expansion pack for Guerilla that give you the repair gun and have the improved combat

Yes ! I finally finished playing my copy. 4-16-2020. I promptly started the game plus mode and bought some dlc, before it disappeared from xbox live forever. Great offline multiplayer that let's you upgrade your character in singleplayer aas well.
