This is part 3 of a 3 part video series about drop-forged classic pre WW2 Brockhaus Heuer vises.
This time I'll take a pre war Heuer D.R.P. Front No. 4 vise apart. I'll show how it's done (if you don‘t already know) and how to service it. This took a bit longer because I took some extra footage later for the felt rings.
As always, please excuse my english pronuncation and noisy neighbors and my dad milling around of screen. I didn‘t even notice it while filming.

They have a nice video about vintage vise production: • Schraubstock-Produktio...
This video shows even older production: • Brockhaus Söhne with hand hammered serrations!
Their homepage also has some nice (german) customer feedback about their old vises: www.heuer.de/d...

Hey guys and gals. It took me some time to get this finished. I was busy with work, and also had to take some additional footage about the felt rings.. I am not showing all the other attempts on getting the round bar and the felt rings to cooperate, but lot's of swearing was involved :). When I wrote pre-compress the felt rings I meant you could insert the dynamic jaw from the back (w/o key of course), then insert the front felt ring easily, and let this sit for a day. This should compress the felt ring enough so it shouldn't stick out that much anymore. Just an idea, though.) Also when I am saying 1938 I mean 1936.

Great video. Keep up the good work. Much harder to service compared to the Primus/D.R.P.

Hello friend Bastel, I have a FRONT n°4 like this, I'm from Argentina and mine doesn't fit until the end, it's perfect for any job!but they do not touch between the two jaws by 1mm... and it still has the original grooves on the jaws. Is there a way to adjust it?

Like the screw protection tube bumps into the movable jaw, right? I have seen that with the very small No. 2 a lot. If the tube is too long, check if the tube is loose (only one spot weld holds it in) and if not, just shorten the tube a bit.
