One of the weddings, the bridesmaids decided it would be "badass" to surprise everyone during the bride-groom first dance by suddenly turning it into a dance off between the bridesmaids & groomsmen. All us groomsmen found out just mere hours before the dance. I've never been more disgusted by the utter lack of originality for such a typical, Cornball idea. Every groomsman was pissed off, trying to tell the girls it's a terrible idea.. Imagine 3 days of stupid shit like that.. I'd invent something. Because I've had my heart shit on by fucking hospitals that wouldn't let me see the man I loved just because I wasn't "wife". Even though I was his emergency contact. Even though he had no immediate family, and his extended family was so far away that it took hours to get ahold of them and ask them to help me see him. I don't understand why society thinks less of a man or woman's partner just because they aren't married. The whole thing sucks.

I hope there is something you may legally do with either a POA (even if it’s limited for a short period of time or for limited purposes such as hospitalization. Many states/places - assuming you are US based- have rules and/or laws which permit POA holders access to the patient even if the POA is not based on making medical decisions but financial in instances of emergencies such as hospitalization. (Or at least in 3 states I’ve had POA authority for the same non-family and non-partner over the years as their family members weren’t active in their life/distance, and they didn’t have a significant other.) Perhaps patient advocacy, a non-profit organization, or even a paralegal may assist you if the time permits. I may be writing things you’ve already tried or are not options for your situation. If so, my apologies as I certainly don’t wish to oversimplify what you’ve experienced, which I know very little about. Sending heartfelt wishes your way as I can’t fathom the pain of being kept from a loved one. I don’t want you or anyone to go through this, and my empathy is with you and others in your heart breaking position. The pain and, many times, feelings of helplessness in a medically complicated situation is already stressful, scary, physically and emotionally draining enough, and all the while you are trying to be there for your loved one. I know it is nuanced and not that simple on both ends. I hope your loved one recovers/recovered, I hope you are able to see him, and I hope the needed change happens. Many, many guys' hands are forced by the circumstances of their girlfriends, family and what they feel as an obligation or as something that they feel they need to do at a certain stage in their lives. Does that warrant making such as drastic decision? Absolutely not. However there are many factors that men face when relationships reach that "shit or get off the pot" phase...no fun, no fun at all.
Ant had a terrible lawyer. I was lucky, my divorce went smooth, no kids, no spite, no money getting paid out. 2 weeks after signing the paperwork I was surfing in Costa Rica.
