When I need a smile I always pull up one of his videos. What an American treasure. Hope they never take them down. He should have had his own TV show. RIP DADDY JACK. NEAL
This guys videos got me through some rough times in my life. I called and left a voicemail at the restaurant wishing him a merry xmas in 2020 and he called me back to wish me a merry xmas and to thank me for watching his channel. RIP Daddy Jack.
I am heartbroken to learn just now of Chef Jack Chaplin's passing. I was with him from the very beginning on RU-vid so many years ago. He was an amazing man, who I never had the pleasure of meeting, but I always aspired to visit his restaurant DADDY JACK'S in New London,CT. His cooking skillset, warm persona, good cheer, generosity, and smiles, resonated profoundly through his RU-vid videos. Deepest Condolences to his family, friends, neighbors, customers and the community. I do hope his channel will remain, as what a superlative eulogy it is. R.I.P Daddy Jack.🇺🇲💙🙏🍀Bon Appetit'
Im a 32 year old irish man iving in Australia. Your channel came up cooking a Sicilian dish and ive watched a bunch since. Keep it up its great I love the rustic simplicity to it.
Jack, God bless you, man and know that you are an authentic cook who will live forever! I hope your cooking shows run indefinitely because we all need to see recipes from a professional's standpoint. I love to see your enthusiastic love of the food you cook. You will never die!
Jack, good on you for pursuing a Patreon page. This is a tough time for restaurants and you deserve the support. You have put literally hundreds of great cooking videos on youtube in the past couple of years. It is time that we give back to you!
Never forget this guy - a real gentleman - all the best to his family and especially his daughters, they really supported their Dad which I admire. All the best RIP mate...
Ah, damn. I just found Chef Jack’s RU-vid channel today and have been binging them. Then I see he’s passed away. What a loss to his family, community and all the viewers he shared his genius with over the years. Fortunately, his memory and cooking will live on through his channel. ❤
I just found it today. This first ever heard of him. I don't actively seek cooking videos they come up randomly. Sad to see this popped up reading after he passed
Jack do some home videos on rotating home food stocks, finding what is hidden in that back corner of the freezer and making some good home cooked meals if people can do that its good all around icebox is old school
I found daddy jack's chicken marsala page at least 4-5 years ago. feels like yesterday. I was in tears reading of his passing yesterday. This man filled the world with joy, his legend will live forever....god bless to the family
He passed??? I looked him up thinking "does he still make videos"? I cant believe it. Watching him showed me that cooking is simply taking your ingredients and applying your knowledge and skills to your food. RIP Daddy Jack
They use roast beef here in Oregon! I'm born and raised 54yrs in Philadelphia and just moved here. Can't find an authentic cheese steak anywhere! And Yes, that's a roast beef melt Jack.
Jack , I hope you and your family stay safe and healthy. I agree with one of the previous comments, keep the videos coming with some fun easy quarentine quick meals. I know that's what I need. As always, everything looks fabulous!
i use roast in my beef stew my son loves it!!!!! u go boy,the beef we get in alabama stores sux there so tuff u have to cook it for hrs.........the only grocery store i shopped at burnt to the ground last week i dunno what im gona do i live out in the country..
Patrick Larry, you are correct. I can't believe that after the criticism from the last video, he basically did the exact same thing again, and called it a "legit" philly cheesesteak. Really perplexing.
Hiya professor Jack! Hope you can make some "underground" videos in the next few days/weeks of some of your favorite comfort food recipes for us to follow while many of us are confined during this "shelter in place" business. All the best to you and your friends and family to stay safe and healthy during these crazy times! Much love!
Love your channel Jack, watch you every day. I'm an amateur cook but don't hold a candle to you. I'm from Long Island and I am coming to your pace as soon as this whole thing is over! Stay safe and God Bless.
Keep making a few of these recipes one at a time Gerry and you will gain confidence and skill, it's not rocket science. My 8th guidance told me don't plan to go to college. Looking back I'd like to punch him in the mouth. Good Gravy, Jack
Hey brother you're a good cook I was raised in South Philadelphia Frank Rizzo was my uncle that is a very delicious sandwich but it is not a Philly Pat's and Geno's of lost their way but let's keep it real
" The working mans CHEF " old fashioned, straight from the heart, down home family man who cooked what people liked and enjoyed! Best regards to the family, he is sadly missed!
I never had the chance to meet Daddy Jack in person, but we were telephone friends. We always talked about the Blues, great food and the trials of running a small, local restaurant. He was a fine, humble gent and super chef with great taste and a down-home style. Sorry I didn't get the chance to meet him in person. Play me some blues.......
@@gutrench9489 here in Jersey a whole steak sandwich is 14 bucks on average. We don't use whiz. A real steak sandwich is made from thin slices ribeye. On a AC Italian roll.
@Billy Conforto you've obviously never had a cheesesteak if all you know is cheese whiz🤦🏾♂️ that sandwich doesn't come close🤣🤣 warm coldcuts with butt loads of Provolone is a nice Lil snack, but a sandwich with thin ribeye on a Italian roll is on another level. You sound foolish. Here in Jersey we get them with American cheese, fried onions, and hot pepper relish, on Atlantic city rolls. Best in the world.
That’s a good looking sandwich Jack, although I’m not sure it’s a legit cheesesteak. Usually a good steak uses ribeye on a Sarcones or Amoroso roll. Be safe out there!
Daddy Jack- Rename that the "New London Cheese steak"!!! Can be a DJ's signature goto. Philly don't need any more versions of theirs!!! Keep on truckin' big dude!
It saddens me to watch these videos, I’m sorry about your loss. Daddy jack is someone I came across on RU-vid randomly looking up food videos. Idk I look at him ans kinda saw my own father in ways, he’s a killer in the kitchen forreal! I respect his knowledge and facts he presents to us, not crazy editing and sound effects or visual effects. just straight to the point and quick and easy recipes definitely packed with little inside notes facts about the cookin tjme and foods itself. He’s a G! I used to send daddy jack videos too my best-friend! Unfortunately he passed away 9 months ago. He was also a chef young in the game but had that same passion about the craft as your fathers. He would whip up sandwiches like this too, with rapid efficiency and creativity. I feel like I only look up to angels these days. Rest in peace.. I’m going to watch another video and look for some more inspiration 😄
Keeping it simple! I crave a Philly Steak sandwich quite often but my favorite is still a good Reuben with grilled onions, nutty Swiss, strong kraut and a touch of Russian or Thousand Island dressing on a chewy medium dark Rye/Caraway bread.
I grew up in south jersey-this is not a classic Philly-like the one guy said--when he cut the roll in half. The cheese in melted on the grill--not under a broiler. I think part of the Philly cheesesteak is the greasy cheap steak. lol, The bun if the grill is done on the grill. After taking out from under the broiler if I was served that I would have left. Nice try buy sorry--not vote for me. I was raised on these things-also the break or bun-that makes the sandwich. I can still see the sm=oke coming off the grill and hear the sound of the metal spatula hitting the grill.
If I order a Philly Cheese Steak, I want rib eye steak or steak ums and cheese wiz or sharp cheddar cheese nicely melted, not roast beef and any other cheese !!. I once ordered Spaghetti in a Pizzeria and got linguini. This is not what I was waiting for.
Good looking sandwich. Would liked to have come across you sooner but alas. Fair winds and following seas my friend. I will continue to enjoy the videos you all uploaded. Thanks again.
Dear jack I love all your recipes they always keep me interested and cooking Your A great positive influence and I love. Learning about cooking new foods and enjoy the food with family Would. Love to come up and meet you at your great place Thanks Again dan
I've eaten thousands of Philly cheesesteaks in my life. What the hell was this? I'm certain you are a fine chef even excellent but this is no Philly cheesesteak.
Agreed. Much respect to Jack, and I am no chef, but that’s not a philly steak sandwich. Love the channel though. He reminds me of my uncles growing up in Boston. Good people and good food
Everybody in S.E., PA knows a PHILLY cheesesteak is made either with AMERICAN cheese slices or WiZ. Provolone only on Meatball Sandwiches (at least here anyway). f.o. and mushrooms are most def a plus (imo), but optional. I make my own and put my chipsteak (DelCo fresh) in w/ the cooked mush. & yellow onions and cook in all together on the stovetop (NO oil added) in a frying pan (Dutch Oven). FRESH hoagie rolls a MUST.
Thanks for the videos Jack. Your a real nice guy and a great cook. Thanks for not getting political when you are taping your shows. I like the fact you are one of those guys that anyone could sit down and have a beer with and you would treat them like family.
Thanks for the kind words Paul, I was taught to keep my political preference to myself. It's best in the restaurant business, don't want to alienate anyone!
Eyes water up watching this, u are greatly missed and I’ve never even met u. Being a ct native & resident, Watching your vids brung me pride and joy. Loved your cooking style and spirit . May god bless your family, rest peacefully sir 🙏🏿
“I’m gonna do it legit” Doesn’t do it legit. I’m not hating- do your own thing- but yeah that is not the legit way to make a philly steak 😂 Love it tho.
@@CookingWithTheBlues doing it right means thin sliced ribeye, American/prov/whiz (not from a can), yellow onions and the roll is never cut in half all the way. Nothing more
