There are many relationships out there when people display classic signs of a manipulative partner, and their significant other has no idea!
When people are truly manipulative, they are very aware of what they're doing and take actions that are solely focused on getting their own needs met.
Manipulative partners are not focused on you as they don't put you first. Sometimes with manipulation, they can make it seem like they care about what you have to say, but in the end when it comes deep down, they are only acting or pretending to care as a way to serve their own interests.
Manipulative people are really not interested in you except as a vehicle to allow them to gain control so that you become an unwilling participant in their plans. They have several ways of doing this, as many of you will recognize. They will often take what you say and do and twist it around so that what you said and did becomes barely recognizable to you. They will attempt to confuse you, maybe even making you feel as if you’re crazy. They distort the truth, and may resort to lying if it serves their end.
Manipulative people often times act like the victim, making you seem like you're the one who caused a problem which they started but won’t take responsibility for.
Manipulative people can act different. They can be passive aggressive or nice one minute and standoffish the next. This heightens your own fears and insecurities, and they know that. They can also be extremely aggressive and vicious, which results in personal attacks and criticism towards you in attempt to get what they want. They are known to bully and threaten too, and it mentally wears you down!
It's important to know the classic signs of a manipulative partner as it can help prevent you from getting pulled into a manipulative relationship. it's important to know your self and your truth, and spotting signs of manipulation will help you be able to avoid conflict with your partner and maintain your self-respect and integrity.
7 Classic Signs of a Manipulative Partner:
1. Avoids personal responsibility for their actions
2. Lack insight into how their behaviors are contributing to negative interactions
3. Pray on our emotional sensitivity and feelings
4. They continue to do actions that hurt you without making effort to change
5. They blame you for their problems
6. They cross boundaries in your relationship
7. What they say to you versus what they actually do are two different things
