A compilation of some of Gale Sayers' highlight's at the University of Kansas. One of the greatest open-field runner in the history of college football, the Kansas Comet blazed across the gridiron for 3 spectacular seasons before he went on to have a short but brilliant career in the NFL.
PS: Some of the clips had a voice-over or narration, so I just muted the entire video and put a nice film-reel sound effect over the whole thing.
The games I used to take the clips from can be found on Stephen Barnett's youtube channel (and there were a few other channels I used as well that you can find if you look around): / sbbarnet. .

Condolences to the family of the man who was the Kansas Comet. This man set the tone for all the shifty running backs that followed.

My brother (John Garber) played at KU when Gale was there. Also played with John Hadl and Curtis McClinton. All-Americans. I got to see them in their heyday.

Still holds the record for kickoff return in NFL with over 30 yards average . A brilliant talent who did everything in a spectacular manner..

Listened to that 99-yard run against Nebraska. Couldn't wait to see it on the local news. Loved those old Jayhawkers uniforms.

Thanks for the great footage! By the way, at the 3:01 mark, the following stats are displayed: 412 carries, 3,675 yards, 6.5 YPC. But, 3,675 yards divided by 412 carries comes out to 8.92 yards per carry!?!

Gale Sayers, and martial artist Bruce Lee, were EXCATLY ALIKE: THEY WERE EACH THE CREME OF THE CROP IN THEIR RESPECTIVE FIELDS, AND NO ONE CAME CLOSE-CLOSE-TO HAVING THE MOVES THAT THEY EACH HAD. GOD BLESS BOTH OF THEIR IMPERIAL SOULS.

was there as a 9 year old. sitting in the small bleachers at the sw corner of end zone. it pulled ku 9-10. nu won by 23-9 I think. less than 2 weeks later jfk killed in dallas, went to nu vs okl day after. still remember as if yesterday.

Natrone Means just barely missed the cut for the currents season, but he should get his own video eventually. LT, on the other hand, is a no-go. I can't find any in-game footage of him.
