A compilation of some of Willis McGahee's highlight's at the University of Miami. Willis McGahee only had one season of note. And that one season was absolutely spectacular before he shredded his knee in the Championship game. A ridiculous combination of speed and strength, 2002 McGahee was possibly the best in Miami's long line of stud tailbacks.
The games I used to take the clips from can be found on Stephen Barnett's youtube channel (and there were a few other channels I used as well that you can find if you look around): / sbbarnet. .

That man right there was decked out. I don't think I've ever seen someone look so stylish in a football uniform. The visor, the jersey number, the Miami uniform. It all matched like a CEO in a 3 piece suit.

Absolutely the coolest looking player, while performing at a high level, on the collegiate or pro level. I was already right out of college when Willis played, however, I wanted to go back to play ball to look like Willis. The attention to detail was sick.

Maybe if UM took tOSU seriously and didn’t celebrate before the game even started the outcome could’ve been different. Jim Beam when looking back over who was Miami best tailback. EJ, Portis and Gore are usually the first ones mention(they were beast as well). McGhee was the best tailback to me.

@Dr Beyonder Andre Johnson was the best receiver not named Jerry Rice or Calvin Johnson, and hit, caught and accelerated better than Johnson. If he had ever had a single better than average QB, and a team that didn't make/let him play through a 3rd degree ankle blowout after they were already out of the playoffs,.. Yeah, never forget that his QB the first 4-5 years of his career was David Carr.

@@asnark7115 Correction the LEGENDARY Ed Reed was the HANDS DOWN the best free safety during both the aforementioned Brian Dawkins & Sean Taylor’s tenure in the NFL. Brian Dawkins played BOTH free & strong safety at times throughout his Hall of Fame career however he’s considered to be a strong safety & in regards to Sean Taylor at the time of his death he was OBVIOUSLY the most physically gifted & athletic free safety in NFL history was having a SPECTACULAR start to his 2007-08 season where he possibly could’ve won NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors for clarification.

@5:42 they both knocked each other out. It's crazy how many jarring hits and knockouts the common fans miss. These guys play it off so well. I played a lot of football (high school, college, and little more after that) and a lot of DBs I knew would knock themselves out once or twice a game. They'd come over to me on the sideline and ask if it was a good hit because they don't remember it.

He just never played for an O-Coordinator who was patient and smart enough to build a game around 4-6 yards per carry, like Wanstead and Johnson were with Emmitt Smith, who was a really similar stright-slide-straight with no hip level change runner; just not as fast or powerful as WillisM. +juice4080 McGahee at 6'1 225lbs had ridiculous vision,incredible balance and was clocked at a 4.3 in the 40 pre-injury,not to mention he was strong as hell.The U was runningback U for about 4 or 5 years but just off the eye test i think Willis was the best of the bunch.Hell,he managed 8,000 yards with the loss of his speed,imagine what he could've done if never lost it.

Edge James IMO is the best back to ever come out of Miami- Willis had an amazing year, best ever for a season at UM. Gore would have kept willis on the bench in 02 if he did not tear his knee up in the spring. Gore before his ACL injuries was amazing. Still pissed off Coker never burned his RS against OSU in the Fiasco bowl

+Todd Grant I have no problem with Edge getting the nod,especially since I think he should be in the HOF.But Willis' issue at the U was his confidence.That one year at the U wasn't a fluke.His pro career after the injury is proof.

Bush AND Peterson, though I'd argue he was better than Bush, because at the end of the day Ball is about hitting. McGahee HURT linebackers and secondary players on carries and blocks. He didn't need as much body movement to get the same direction change that Bush got, either.

This man ran for 1700 yards with 28 touchdowns and more than 6 yards per carry. That’s insane when you think about it. He can carry a lot. He obviously has big play vision with 6.2 yards per carry. AND he has 28 freaking touchdowns. So he has a nose for the end zone. Wtf they don’t make them like him anymore

He still turned out to be a Great NFL Running Back with the Bills, Ravens & Broncos. It was the Severe NFL helmet-to-helmet Concussions that really did him in. But, yes if he didn't have that Fiesta Bowl knee injury, he would have been a Top 3 pick in the NFL Draft pick. The BEST Running Back Miami ever produced in my opinion !

I bet Larry Coker would have let Willis score a record setting touchdown against VaTech instead of that stupid QB trick play they ran at the goal line that almost let them come back and win, that gave OSU all they needed to steal the fiesta bowl with a planted ref call - Willis scored like 6 TD's in that game.
