This is a USGI 1 quart canteen. You can use this canteen as a great water source for rugged adventuring, or just going out and about. Also, these canteens are BPA free. The canteen cap included is NOT compatible with NBC gear.

Growing up with Vietnam vets as my mentors I'll never switch to a bladder from the canteen. The one single thing I've heard combat vets mention when speaking of their experiences was water. I usually carry 2 when a water source is close by, 4 when water is expected to be scarce. I prefer the MOLLE pouch over the Nam snap closed type. They can be use in so many more ways.

Always used a Camelbak even during deployment up until my time in OCS where all we use is canteens. In my Civilian life sometimes I'll use them for straight water since they hold a surprising amount of water, but I wonder about the plastic quality, BPAs/BPS/paraben levels and haven't found consistent or reliable info on it, but I found Nalgene's version of the USGI canteen (without all the toxic hormone disruptors) a pretty good replacement (outside of Army schoolhouse time).

While the ones we sell are New and straight from the manufacturer, we still recommend washing them before use.

It don't matter will always taste like chemical plastics and I'm not an environmentalist

@@keonlawrence3404even steel leaves a taste the only thing i find doesn't is titanium, well worth it once paid for, but paying for it is a tough pill to swallow lol

Its a bottle cap that has an adaptor on top to allow you to drink water through a tube into your gas mask , NBC stands for nuclear, biological, chemical.
