@@ParadiseBayCustoms depends on if I can find another good 3rd gen Nova . I also kept my Nov. '69 date coded L-78 402 block and M-22 with the Lakewood bell , and Hurst Ram Rod combo . In case you're wondering , the car got a bit too well known . So apart it came , and away went the body .

@@ParadiseBayCustoms can’t go wrong with chrome smoothies, Cragar 5 spoke, or rally wheels. I have a set of chrome smoothies and body color rally’s for my 57 Chevy. Body color rally’s on my 60 Bonneville.
Thanks. This one took way too much time but I’m stubborn that way. 🤪 Time to get back on the build! Thanks for watching and commenting. Much appreciated.
I personally put 15" 5 spoke polished aluminum wheels on our '90 Century (fwd), along with Cooper Cobra rwl radial tires. It was as close as I could get at the time to a Torq Thrust look. This year Century vaguely reminds me of the 66 - 67 A body GM offerings, on a bit smaller platform which was why we bought it when it was new. I'm working on a '90 Ford Ranger I dragged out of a field a couple years ago and plan on using 15"x7" aluminum 5 slot wheels on it. I'm old enough to not care what is in vogue and am reliving what I liked when I was young. Might even put whitewall 70 series radials on it, which would not have been my preference back then.
Thank you very much for this! I am doing suspension and transmission upgrades. The 6 speed manual with suspension upgrades demand the upgrade to the wheels because the tires simply can’t handle the additional speed the car is now capable of! 69 Super Bees were gear limited to 117 MPH now with 750 HP 6 speeds and Hotchkis suspension it will blow the tires off without trying 😅 I’ll come back to ya with the final results
Hey. This is awesome.. i am like some 15x12 with N50's. Or even some nitto R888r radials. Except they are very poor in the rain. Really would love some high performance tires like the Pirelli p7 centurato PRO TOURING all season all weather tires. This car i am just described to you would not do that and stay flat throughout that run, and give dale earnhardt's bfg gm goodwrench corvette a run for it's money around a race track, not a roundy rounder. And 'THEY' need to offer performance tires for 15" wheels the people demand it!
Love the wheel debate lol. I have been trying to decide between Old school wheels and new modern wheels for my 75 firebird build. But after watching your video I have decided to go with modern. Thank you for the video great information.
Thanks! Having fun, trying different things. I know for myself old school wheels and tires were a sticking point but the more I focused on what I wanted my tastes changed to the whole pro-touring look and performance. Thanks for watching and commenting. Both greatly appreciated.
KEN! after all that you did not tell us what wheel and tire sizes you are going with!!!! come on man! LOL just kidding. love the piece. I am working on a 67 firebird with mini tubs and a Scott's Hotrods full chassis. And I really have no idea what is going to fit at this point. I am thinking once the chassis is under it, I will need to mock some stuff up and figure out what fits comfortably. It's a pretty expensive mistake to get it wrong. I am hoping for 18x8 in the front and 18x10s in the rear. Scott's is telling me up to 295's in the rear with 10" - 0 offset. Any way appreciate the piece and yes that is the question on every ones mind.👍
😂 LOL My pro-touring build will have a modern wheel with an 18” front and a 19” wheel out back. Haven’t narrowed the choice down further than that. I have a few favourites that I like but I’m letting the decision percolate until I have to pull the trigger and buy. Do you have a fav modern wheel? What you going to run on the bird? Thanks for watching and commenting. 👍
Great video! In regard to my 69 F100, if I keep the bolt pattern, I have to go to an 18" Torque Thrust. Otherwise, I'm looking at boring the rotors, doing a drop, etc., which gets into a bit more money. Any thoughts? Hoping the 18"s won't look too big for that truck. Thanks.
Wheels & tires definitely drive a lot of decisions and costs… Think it through and decide what ya want and if it’s worth it. Such a personal decision. Go for it! Thanks for watching and reaching out. 🍻
I am partial to the original 14 inch stock rally wheels on my 71 Camaro BUT if they made that same wheel in an 18 inch, I’d be all over it. I may go for the 17 inch Z/28 replicas and call it a day. I like the stock look / modern size (even though my Camaro isn’t a Z/28)
Me too. Was hooked on Cragars for the longest time but now I’m firmly planted in the modern pro-touring performance wheel and tire combos. Thanks for watching and reaching out!
Modern wheels all the way. While I have the utmost respect for the classic look, my dream car is a 68 Camaro SS, but since I was born in 74 and grew up with performance car handling, I prefer the modern pro-touring look.
Yeah, it is funny because i am looked and saw the world record setting rally 1967 camaro and it has small tires and i am saw it grip and being hurled into multi S 's and just come racing out of them like an air swimming butterfly.
Personally, I prefer what is period correct to the car you're building. I'm by no means a fan of what I call the Amish Carriage look. I have both a 1967 Firebird and a 2009 Challenger.
@@ParadiseBayCustoms no. I actually got it a month ago, and I'm doing a full restoration project on it. I'm going with Cragers S/S wheels and BF Goodrich tires.
@@cuzz63 They are like a time capsule, nostalgic! For me, on my current build… going modern pro-touring. I want the best of both. I’ve been surprised by how most of those who comment groove on the old classics.
60s or 70s muscle cars look great with Cragar's, if I thought they looked good on a 84 Z28 I'd bolt on a set immediately. I'm not sure but I think you need chrome bumpers which I don't have.
@irocitZ No argument here. Love Cragars. This time around on Build version 2.0, I going full pro-touring to focus on performance and handling and unfortunately the Cragars won’t support that vision. Really appreciate the comment. Thanks for watching. 🍻
I recently bought a 67 Chevy II project car with a 407 sbc, in the process of installing the TCI 4-link. All 4 tires are 205/60R15, on 7.5" American Racing wheels. I haven't decided whether to stick with 15's, or change to 17's. However, I have decided on 265's on 9" rims at the back. Am I correct that I should maintain the same overall diameter as my current setup to prevent speedometer problems? Is it important to make all 4 overall diameters the same as each other? Also, If I have 15's in the front, is it necessary to also have 15's in the back? Or can I have different rim sizes in the front than in the back?
This may ind you too late , but here goes . I was running one of my '66 Chevy II SS cars on a set of Rocket Racing Strike wheels , fully polished . Fronts were 15X4.5 with 185 R 15 redlines , rears were 17X7s with 235R60-17s . Stock suspension with partially filled air shocks , stock wheel tubs and no hammering or cutting of the lips . Nobody in the back seat either. They just cleared , by a redheaded frog's hair , if you get my drift . I hope this helps you .
I’ll take classic any day! Chrome is by far better looking! Who wants to see dull black wheels and paint jobs? It’s bad enough that factory’s are painting vehicles battle ship grey! Or primer grey! Boring!
I agree with you on the chrome and paint. Which is your favourite wheel? My first love were Cragars… Now going pro-touring this go around. Thanks for commenting and watching. Much appreciated.
