So guys the 1967 EURO VW Beetle is Finished for our Client! This bug had a resto sometime about 15-20 years ago, had some decent paint on it, but it needed some upgrades! We found this bug in an airplane hangar in MO. One of my clients signed on, and we went through the engine, interior, and safety mechanicals on this VW. The bug was also picked for a small film shoot before it left our shop to Pittsburgh. This car is so beautiful it hurts; every detail is perfection. That white exterior and red interior is incredible. The second I get enough money for you all to find me a bug, I will be on that phone calling Chris!
Oh she's an absolute beauty! That's just lit a big fire up my butt after seeing this. The carpets have been delivered today, so time to pull my fingers out and get working on electrics, headliners and gubbins to go back in my 1300 66sedan. Will be using many of your window installation videos soon. Would love to know when she was exported from the UK to the US and hope the owner can find this out.
Have a pair of RHD 1500 '67 Beetles here in South Africa. As far as I can tell they were assembled here from CKD kits. One runner, one project but both reasonably complete with all the specific bits. Will check the website and look at ordering a RHD carpet kit.
hi chris beautiful 1967 beetle love the red interior is that lotus white paint work it really shines 1500 engine as well great motor must feel strange driving a right hand drive on the road well done you really done a lovely job
I used to drive my '67 Karmann Ghia (but never on the highway) from the right side. Just for giggles. It w as a fun car, but surprisingly hot in the cabin on Southern California summer days, even with the rear pop out windows open.
Greetings from Ireland, still in lockdown here probably until Summer. Lovely interior job, esp. the headlining as it's tricky. Here in Ireland the standard 1200 was the biggest seller due to the lower tax rate but also because gasoline is expensive here and I get 35mpg with my 72 standard 1200 but a 1500 will do about 30 mpg with a 1600 getting even less in general. The 1200 bug weighs in near 100kg lighter at 780kg than a 1600 at 870kg.
This car is pretty much the same as my first car, got my licence in 1962 but could not afford a car 'till 1968. Mine was beige with red trim. Was made in Australia. Can remember the weird placement of the trafficator stick and that you had to start changing gear when you saw a hill in the distance (mine was a 1300). Many old memories.
Hey Chris. Vern from Auckland, New Zealand. Wow this 67 looks really great. I have a MY 67 1500 RHD as well. It is a very early September 1966 build. It would be interesting to know when yours was built. Mine is Java Green with a dark tan interior and 6 volt. Love your videos especially on the Ovals.
Hey Chris I love your videos! They are really awesome, congrats for having that great car on your hands! I also have a 1967 Euro VW beetle. It has 4 lug rims and looks like yours on this video. I placed the 185/65 R15 tyres but to be period correct, do they have to be 155/80 R15 for that year?
Hey Chris what door panel selection did you use here? I am having a hard time finding panels for my 67 Bug. Sewfine says they don't offer 67 and up style panels. Wolfsburg says they sell TMI panels. The problem I have is the colors for TMI and Sewfine dont match, they are different. So how do you go about getting correct 67 panels that match Sewfine's seat material? I think they have the best material so i would like to go with them for seats.
Very nice Beetle! Why do its bumpers have over-riders if it's a Euro? My understanding was that over-riders were designed to contend with higher North American bumpers.
Where do you get the correct 67' style seat covers WITHOUT the beading/seam on top and with the proper pleating? It seems TMI doesn't care that the ones they sell are not correct, or did something change recently?
Thanks. When I've talked to WW in the past they have told me that TMI makes their seat covers. It's just weird that both JBugs and WW say they stock TMI, but the J bugs 1967 seat cover set I bought a few months ago is wrong...
Hi, so I’m 17 but I would like to get a beetle for my first car. I don’t really know anything about beetle but what would you recommend a good beetle to get, like the year and engine specs and that
I thought euro models had the smaller bumpers (over guards) were made for usa crash standards maybe im wrong there are so many things i find out that are mysteries with vw there was even a other version of the vw thing only made in Australia called the vw country wagon aka vw country buggy had a more wagon look than the jeep look
