I still remember when I saw it for the first time, I couldn't fathom a song could sound the way she made it. I was awestruck, excited and feeling exhilarating from watching the performance. A couple of quick points: 1. Appreciate the respectful way you talk about Sohyang and Dimash. As great singers, they do share some important characteristics in their craft and professional commitment, even though there are many distinct differences. 2. Sohyang's precision in English pronunciation. I always attribute that to her professionalism. She is relatively fluent in speaking English from first watching TV programs and movies. I believe the pronunciation is a reflection of her hard work on diction and articulation for each song. I listened to her performance of a Chinese song as well, a language I don't think she speaks, but her pronunciation was spot on. 3. You recognize how Sohyang gives her best in each performance. It's worth noting that she once said that she considers each performance is one before her Creator. She can only deliver each performance with all her effort and ability, without reservation. The emotional commitment is abundantly clear in her stage and the impact becomes equally powerful. Lean On Me is a performance that compels the listener to acknowledge her vocal talent and skill, but Sohyang is truly special to her fans for the emotional context she brings to the song. Everyone clearly demonstrates both her technical proficiency and the ability to communicate. Look forward to it. Dimash is an Alien, So Hyang is an Angel. I'm not that religious, but every time I listen to her I can feel her belief and that is enough for me. Like someone mentioned in a post, if she led a mass at a church, even though I'm Orthodox I'd be more than willing to participate. Everyone is the song you should react next. Though her rendition of Whitney Houston I have Nothing and the rendition of O Holy night are also amazing. Dimash = witness inhuman performance. So Hyang = cleanse your soul.

She's great. Goosebumps. If you want to see a breathtaking performance where an artist gives it all they have listen to Lara Fabian's Je suis malade. It's not the only performance when she pours her heart and soul into a song, but this one is, in my opinion, the strongest one. Thank you for your reactions. BTW Dimash loves Lara, which is another thing should look into, them singing together as a trio with Aida Garifullina.

As others wrote Bb5 is her signature mixed high note but she has gone to C#6. She often flips into a heavenly head voice, often to a sustained D6 (Dream, On This Rock, Everyone). For Mariah Carey covers she has gone to Eb6 even A6. She sang a great "I'll be there" on TV (Begin Again Korea) this weekend but that video is currently blocked overseas. In the same episode her "I won't give up" was also good as was last week's "I'll Always Love You".

Great reaction. This is one of my favorite of her performances. She is able to bring tempo into play along with a more upbeat charisma -- along with killer technique and arrangement choices. And her gospel instincts tell her exactly when and how to use dramatic high notes. The gospel background also prepared her for connecting to audiences. It's actually a great channel because it will have some of her smaller venue performances so more intimate and also amazing.

This isn't one of my favourite Sohyang performance, even though it is a lot of other people's. There's this thing a lot of diva singers do that annoys me, which is to show off everything they can do in every song, so what could be a nice single held note becomes like every note imaginable. Runs galore. I understand that they want to show off how versatile they are, but they do it so often that it's become something I dislike every time I hear it even if it's a singer who doesn't usually do it....if that makes any sense... One thing (of many) I love about Sohyang is that she rarely oversings. She's very tasteful, even when she takes on a song that truly calls for some amazing vocal gymnastics, she doesn't overdo it. Like, she covered "I Have Nothing" by Whitney Houston, and that's a monster of a song by one of the greatest singers ever, and there's a lot of room in a song like that to go nuts, but she didn't. She definitely made it her own, and I think even Whitney herself would have been blown away by what she did with it, but she didn't oversell it, it was perfect. And I'm rambling, so I'll get to the point, which is that this particular song is the only one where I feel like she's really trying to show her whole arsenal in one song, which is understandable because every great singer has to do that occasionally, but I'm still not a big fan of it. I love Sohyang because (aside from her vocal skills which are immense) she draws emotions out of me and it's really weird because no other vocalist has ever done it, at least not as consistently as Sohyang does. My top 10 (in a somewhat chronological order) are "Where Are You?", "Fate", "It's Only My World", "Arirang Alone", "Bridge Over Troubled Water", "I Have Nothing", "Everyone", "Dear Love", "Hug Me", "Mona Lisa", and "Breathe". Okay, that's 11. Her Masked Singer performances are real tearjerkers, she's amazing.
