Classroom Management | Respect 

Absolutely, RESPECT is not an option! We need to teach this to students early on and it will become part of their character to respect every one, at all times!

Giving kids purpose and a way to show kindness is powerful. So often we say "Be nice." This gives them a REAL example and how-to to be kind. LOVE IT!!!

I love your inexhaustible energy and enthusiasm! This might be out of left field, but I was severely neglected as a child and extremely withdrawn mentally and emotionally. I love the colors on your wall, nothing overwhelming. The natural tones with the wood wall calms me just by looking at it. And normally a full whiteboard would clutter my brain but somehow you managed to compose it in just a way that it feels right. Taking notes for my first-year room!

Thank you for posting this! I watched this on Friday when I came home from work after feeling guilty for going off on a child and ending fun Friday early for my students. This helped me because I won’t want to dip my students buckets either. Today we did a lesson on Bucket filling classrooms and I introduced the concept of them using the bucket filling slips to write kind notes to their classmates. I made an anchor chart and had them “practice” writing a note to the class on how we can fill the classrooms bucket, and I have that anchor chart posted as a reminder, I post up anchor charts a lot and rotate which ones stay up but our class family chart has been up all year and the bucket filling chart will now be a staple there all year. Thank you Ms. May! Seeing your video also inspired me to make a conscience effort not to raise my voice at students to try to get a quick result and to be more mild and patient in the same way that I would like them to be

I love you videos so much. This is exactly how I want to be with my littles. I am Student Teaching right now and I have a couple students who do struggle with respect. I've been there for about two months and I have a great relationship with them but a couple in particular are really struggling with respecting everyone, classmates, teachers, etc. What do you suggest when you have a particular couple of students who say things like, "I don't have to listen" or who lash out physically?
