Your room looks really cute! One small suggestion, I would anchor that mirror onto the wall somehow. I just wouldn’t want it to fall onto a kid or break. I hope this doesn’t seem rude in any way, I know other’s suggestions can sometimes come off rude or just be unwanted. As part of my school’s safety committee mirrors are often a topic of discussion.

You could add some green plants-fake or real-but plants go a long way in a classroom to make it feel homey :)

Love your classroom. I remember well the excitement of organising my first classroom in the UK. It was overwhelming and so exciting. It'll get easier every year. Classrooms reflect values, and you have really put well-being and representation at the heart of your practice. You mention that the Affirmation Station looks a little empty. Just an idea, which would make it more cosy and help with area zoning and promoting reading: why not put the library banner, which is an affirmation and is perfect for a calm area, in the affirmation station, You could then print out quotes from books or pictures of writers or print outs about reading/inference skills, or anything book-related in the library. I know you like the look of the library, but having something book-related will send a positive message about the value of reading to students. Good luck! Hope you enjoy your first year.

I just wanted to say your room is sooo cute and I think you’ll be a great teacher! I’m not a teacher or even an aspiring teacher, but I stumbled on your page by complete accident but I’m invested now!

Just a suggestion. If I was you I would try to see if you can hang the grammar and writing banner from the piece of the wood above the large bulletin board. It would give you more space. Plus you can also move up the writing posters you have hanging currently more to the top of the bulletin board and then underneath the posters you can make an objective board under those posters and get a clear folder that you can write the objective on or put a piece of paper with the objective printed on it. Also I know you said you want a student center which I think is a great idea but you should really use the space next to your cabinets next to your door, it's prime real estate. You can cover the boxes hanging there with paper and put student center on that so it gives it a title and then put a table there with the turn in bins and penciled sharpener etc on the table then hang some fabric off the table and use under the table as storage space.

Recommendation: if turn your teacher desk to where it angles outward you’ll be able to see your whole classroom, your tassel decor/fabric will be seen along with your name banner. Then you can move the two white shelves behind you so your personal decor/pictures and stuff can be kept private

The voice levels thing is so clever! I remember when I was in elementary, in our cafeteria there was a full sized Traffic light lol … Green = Good , Yellow = Alight, chill out ….Red = Uh-Ohhhh

you can get some bean bags for a seating area, I always loved when my teachers had cool seats in their room. Also you should do a superstar student of the week and they have special benefits that motivates the kids to want to do well :)

You could totally make some positive thinking posters or like thought bubbles to go in that corner around the wall like deep breaths, count to twenty, you got this, not every day is a bad day, after thunderstorms comes rainbows, imagine your bad thoughts as balloons and release them into the sky with each deep breath, even the best fall down sometimes, and focus on the present - what are three things you can see, two things you can touch, and one thing you can hear.

You should turn your projector on and put border around the area where the projection shows on the white board

So cute the affirmations are so positive and what children really need!

I would suggest getting some kind of curtain for your window to help with the glare on the white board when you are presenting from your projector. It can have some bad viewing angles with a glare from the natural light.

Hang up a rainbow led light in the affirmation station on that empty wall !

For the positive corner get some tapestrys like the one u have in the library and hang posters :) also get some stuffed animals cause it calms kids down :) (these are suggestions btw I love ur videos) 😍

I think you should hang the affirmation station sign on rope and hang diagonally across the space, it will help to add more dimension to the space! It will help to draw your eye there!

I have loved watching these!! I would use the shelves for your planning binders/teacher materials you’re currently using so it’s easy access! Also have you thought about switching your word work/grammar to the door and making the big bulletin board science and social studies?

You could put the rug that’s by your table under it and so that way it’s not in the way and you can have a little rug on your feet 🙂 I loved watching these videos they are so calming and so fun to watch ! 🥰

if you want to do a treasure box of some sort but don’t want to put tons of money into it you can use those little animals erasers and call the “desk pets” or “cubby pets”. i saw a tik tok about how the kids get those like after a review for a test and when they have free time they can make little homes for them in the desk/cubby
