Two years ago I started investing $12.50 each week to show my college accounting students that they can use the accounting concepts were learn in class to help us pick stocks (in this case, stocks that pay dividends). So far our portfolio is beating the market and returning +17.54% per year.

Good video . I like to know what is the current total value of the portfolio and how many stocks are in it. Also your opinion on a particular portfolio of 50% stocks + 50% dividend paying ETFs. Thank you.

Hi Sunil, because we don't invest in a stock if it makes up 4% or more of the portfolio, it's VERY diversified. Currently it has 83 stocks with Microsoft being the biggest holding (it has grown to 4.56% of the account). 83 sounds like a lot to keep track of, but we do so with a spreadsheet that downloads company financial data ... so it's easy for us to determine when to sell a stock. The portfolio value as of today is $1672.75

As for your question about a portfolio of 50% stocks and 50% dividend-paying ETFs, I see nothing wrong with that for a young investor (since it means 100% in equities). Just make sure to also have an emergency fund! :)

Immensely thankful for prompt reply. Your videos are ideal for young investors just joined college or workforce full time or part time. I want to forward your videos to a couple of young ones including my daughter. Grateful if you inform me how to download your 83stock portfolio spread sheet with your permission. I subbed already. Also it will be helpful to viewers if u start every video with portfolio value and number of stocks plus posting every video with episode numbers. Looking forward to follow this portfolio in coming years. Thanks for your time n content.
