Been playing claw for years now. As of this year, however, I've been feeling pain in my index finger. I've been holding the controller properly, and I have long fingers, so Idk why they're hurting all of a sudden. My issues aside, this is a very good video for people trying to learn claw/getting used to claw
Good clip my dude. I switched to claw in february, took me 2 months to get used to it, but was worth it. I do have my middlefinger on the trigger tho without any pain, guess I have strange hands. Greetings from germany
Tysm I am learning claw as an 11 year old kid going back to school in 2 days, I am one of the worst players in my friend group and I am looking to improve at Fortnite
I use my thumb for buttons and my index finger moves from the bumper to the analog stick when I need it, maybe my fingers are just more flexible or something but it feels natural to me now. The only game I play with a controller is Dark Souls though, not sure that my version would work for FPS games.
Please respond ! I try to play claw like this while holding the controller with my pinkie since it is the only available finger left and it hurts. is it better to leave it loose like my pinkie wouldnt hold on to the back of the controller or should i get used to it?
I'm only use to 1 finger per trigger and bumper so I rest my index in between y and b so I can easily press RB and LB. I also play 2 paddles on an elite 1 on the left to maximize optimization and comfort while not sacrificing my aim.
Hi, thanks for the very clear video, I started playing using the claw a week ago the issue I have right now is the pain in my right hand since I use my index for pressing the triangle, circle, square and x also to press R1 I think this made more strain on my index finger muscle which hurt right now. I will try the the middle and ring finger on R1/R2 tonight and index finger for buttons only. My concern when you play claw do you rest your controller on a horizontal surface like a desk or is it ok to keep it close from your body like normal grip.
Idk if its just because of using Playstation controllers for so long, but having trouble getting used to my new xbox controller. Feels like my hand and fingers are more strained and i grip it tighter. Guess it just takes getting used to it?
I’m giving this a try and it’s actually pretty good. But instead of their being pain in my wrist(which is gone cause of this new grip you showed me), my pinky is kinda hurting a bit. Not sharp or anything but it just feels super weird after a little while. Is this alright? Feel like it will go away
@@Challard 13 days later I’m used to it and there’s virtually zero pain/discomfort. My aim was kinda ass the first couple days but I got used to it. Thanks tho man the grip will help a ton. Plus the pinky pain was just temporary
@@abeisdumb should i also play like this? Or should I stick to normal claw? Cause when I play normal claw I can’t hold R2 and press x and circle at the same time
Thanks for the vid man, was wondering if I'm the only one that can't press the both triggers with the middle finger and has to bring the Ring Finger up😂 Turns out I'm not alone Keep up the great work man and nice video quality👍
I use claw grip only for cerain actions like weapon swaps in souls games or in fortnite to change my weapon loadout order. Do you use claw grip continuously or just as needed?
Get a controller with paddles on the back that you can remap buttons to. Also if you cant see if the game your playing has other control schemes that will fit you comfortably
hey bro. you find the ps5 easier or harder to play claw than the ps4 controller? got a ps5 on the way and was hearing rumours that claw would be harder (I've been playing claw on the ps4 for a couple years with no pain or trouble at all) Great vid though thanks for the insight!
Hey brother! So I have had a PS4 and an XB1, I prefer the XB1 controller ergonomics, so keep that in mind. IMO, the DS5 is a big improvement over the DS4, feels less like a brick, but its definitely a bigger controller. So I think it is be easier to play claw on the DS5. However, whenever I play shooters on the Dual Shocks, I find it easier to play claw with a "flipped" trigger, bumper layout. (ADS & Shoot w/ bumpers). I'm on PC now, so I get a choice on controllers. Probably going to switch over to the DS5 bc I like it the tighter analog sticks vs the Xbox Controllers. Hope this helps. LMK how you like the PS5!
@@Challard Thank-you so much for the detailed response! That's awesome that you like the DS5, from what I've seen it looks an incredible controller and super responsive. Thanks for clearing the claw issue up, I was worried because it was a bigger controller that I might find it tougher, but if you play flipped (I do to) with no issues then that sounds good! Thanks again bud
@@SMDx1 Absolutely man! IDK if you are a COD guy, be we are starting a 24hr stream tonight (or tomorrow lol) at 2am EST. Alongside the Black Ops Cold War launch. You should definitely drop by! If the integrations are written for PC, ill be using the DS5.
@@Challard I absolutely am a COD guy man. Competitive more so. Patiently waiting to be disappointed by a lack of a ranked mode at launch lol! Hoping Treyarch can pull through. Sounds good man, I've subscribed so I'll keep an eye out!
@@SMDx1 Thanks man! And same brother! A comp playlist alongside a toned down SBB pubs would be great. My buddy and I are going to get back into 2v2 SnD. Lmk if you ever wanna chall😛
I like the Xbox one controller. PS5 controller is almost too larger and not a ergonomically IMO. However, the joystick on the PS5 controller are better then the Xbox. I rock the Xbox controller still
As someone who is fortunate enough to also own an Xbox Series S and PS5, I find the Xbox Series controller more comfortable. I play claw and if theres a time that I’m not pressing A,B,X or Y, I simply rest my finger ( index ) on the diagonal with the tip of my finger pointing at the right stick. So the tip sits on the A button. If I am pressing something, naturally where the buttons are so much closer together ( as opposed to the PS controllers ) I found I can simply use the side of my finger ( again the index ) to press the B button while keeping the tip of it on top of the A button. And I basically do the same also for pressing either X or Y. If ya’ll are still using the Xbox ONE controller, that’s still great, but if u didn’t know the Series controllers are around 20% smaller so if u find you’re having to stretch a lot, then a Series Controller may be the move. The PS5 controller’s triggers feel a lot further down compares to the XBS X|S I’m not a fan of how Sony makes their D-Pad, to me I don’t like the rubbery membrane feel to them, they should feel just as good as the buttons do. If I ever get serious into playing PS, I’d defo like an Xbox Style controller ( the stick layout of the Xbox ) if anyone knows any that are Supported on PS5 then lmk.
Im probably gonna stick with using steam for gyro aim + flickstick controls they're just way more precise than what a stick can do alone but in all honesty quite a bit worse than a mouse, also to not have to use claw I'll probably just swap one bumper button to jump and use x for whatever the bumper had. Because in my eyes the only benefit with claw over normal is being able to jump easily while aiming, like using your thumb stick press to jump while aiming kinda sucks because lifetime of the thumbsticks degrades and if you use another for crouch you're probably gonna use the one for aiming which makes your aim wobble every time you jump. Definetly don't need to use gyro for the good old bumper swap either. Only game i can think of it not working at the moment is fortnite with building but I dont play that anymore anyway and also theres now a zero build mode. Also claw is kinda useless for a lot of 2d platformery games like hollow knight, rainworld and celeste where the other thumbstick is entirely useless! Also a fun thing with gyro is that it shouldn't be limited to steam games as you can add any game you want to be launched via steam with steam overlay and the controller options to play kbm games with a controller too. Also controllers with backbuttons are amazing to me, but sadly a lot of them dont have gyro with them as well.
I wish Xbox had better pad controllers. I’ve bought the 8bitdo and horipad but they have unbearably high deadzones. Pisses me off that companies make controllers with such high deadzones to “combat stick drift” when every game has their own deadzone adjustment setting
Unfortunately I do not have any great tips on aim. It took me a while to get used to the aiming also. My best tip is to not get super hung up on accuracy. If you are playing FPS multiplayer games accuracy is a small component to you skill. Know how to our play ppl is mush more important.
I think the the new Xbox controller is easier. The PS5 controller is honestly the largest controller I have ever used. The joy sticks on the PS5 controller are tighter, which is a plus to me. However, the sheer size is makes claw a little more difficult. Also I don't think Warzone or BOCW even have integrations for the PS5 controller yet, you have to do some funky 3rd party stuff to use it.
The ps5 interface became very slow and I cannot use the controller, and also I could not stop the Sony from the pause button I stop the Sumi from the cable What is the solution please
@@Challard yes my pinky is supporting it, but im used to the middle finger regular claw, but I play way better with ring finger method. But supporting the controller is weird without my last two fingers on it.
@@ashername1244 Yeah it takes some getting used too. I started to just apply pressure with my right palm as a way of support. I too cannot comfortably wrap my pinky around the controller
As a comfort freak I find myself in the existential crisis trying to slide cancel and bhop in warzone with dualsense There is no back paddle variants of dualsense, no back button yet, and I can't really play claw on a religion level, it ruins all the comfort of dualsense, even if it won't hurt I can map my controller thru DS4Windows to have jump on L3 but yeah from such frequent usage it won't last long enough
Are you on PC? Honestly man I much prefer the Xbox controller. I have too played around with the DS through DS4windows, but the Xbox controller IMO is wayyy more ergonomic.
@@Challard I do have Xbox controller, particularly first revision of Xbox One controller from 2015 It's broken but I really don't like it, at all, I haven't really used it, it just hurts my fingers, maybe that's just specific for my hands idk but DualSense is the most comfortable gamepad I ever had and I have Xbox One controller, DualShock 4, Steam Controller, and ofc DualSense Still, even on Xbox One controller claw isn't comfortable It is effective, but I really want to just have a good feel from using a gamepad
