I think they realized that making the room a true elevator just added more moving parts and made it more prone to breakdowns, so they made the room stretch upward instead. That way if the room breaks down, all they have to do is disable the pre-show and let people walk right through. If the one in California breaks down, the guests can't get to the ride.

Well the elevator in California was a necessity to get guests under the berm and into the show building, which wasn't needed in Florida

The elevator at the haunted mansion is a running gag. You actually never know but the truth is, the room DOESNT EVEN MOVE. It opens a different door so you think that you've moved. The ceiling simply goes up a bit and another door opens up that is a different one from what you entered in.

"Gumby after a bad trip of meth for a couple of years" sums up the art direction here very well. i wish they could've kept the original designs and only reanimate them; i agree with you that the characters look horrendous (i mean, look at Frosty on the cover there and compare with the cover of the first game). the in-game models looking so blurry also makes the game look worse than it is - i mean, KI Gold used the exact same art style (2D characters, 3D stages), but it looked and flowed much better.

I remember borrowing this game from my neighbour when I was like 8 and being less interested in the fighting and more interested in the surrounding environments, which I wanted to explore. To this day I have little to no interest in fighters, even SSB - can only enjoy games with a story to follow and things to explore.

Man, I loved Boogerman so much. It was one of the first videogames I beat entirely as a kid. I had this weird special ritual that would nearly break my Sega Genesis, where before I fought De Odor Ant I would leave the Sega Genesis on for 2 days before I'd come back and fight him. I started this ritual because the first time I got that far I had to go on a 2 day trip with my family, and you couldn't save the game, so I left it and when I came back I won on my second or third life. I lost after that, and the next time I returned I lost to him really hard, but after I started doing the ritual I would beat him every time. Cool story huh?

How to fighting games. Literally one of the most comprehensive guides out there. Step 1. Mash all buttons to figure out what they do. Step 2. Do them against enemies to figure out what, more specifically, they do. Step 3. Try to chain them together. Step 4. Rinse, repeat until you git gud.

Actually, despite the choppy animation,(which is what often gets Clay Fighter 63 1/3 it's unfair status as a bad game) this game actually plays extremely well. It's still one of my all time favorite fighting games. I just really hope that that Clay Fighter sequel that Interplay has been talking about for a year now shows up at E3.

I remember playing a game like this when I was a kid. The characters look familiar. But it was for the Super Nintendo. But to be honest when I clicked on this I was expecting a different game. Claymates. Loved that game when I was a kid, but I could never beat it.

This is a sequel. You (like I) owned Clayfighter on the SNES. This is Clayfighter 64 1/3 that came out years later on the N64. Hope that helps. The SNES game is still bad, but much better than this...

***** And the references aren't just in the locations (Haunted Mansion Stretching Room and The Beatles' Yellow Submarine), they're in the characters too. Bad Mr. Frosty is, as his name implies, an evil Frosty the Snowman. The Blob is from the classic movie. Icabod Clay is a homage to Icabod Crane and The Headless Horseman from The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Helga is a viking opera singer. Tiny, as his opposite name suggests, is a muscle-bound freak in red tights.

Houngan is the title of a vodou (voodoo) priest. So the chicken, while it may also be for comic relief as they hypothesised, might also be a reference to the image of a vodou practitioner sacrificing chickens. In other news, I love this VS.
