I have an uncle who smokes pipe. I always liked the smell of one. Looks like maintaining one is pretty easy if done regularly.

Massey1105driver - I try to clean each day's pipe that evening, but I got behind and yep, really easy if done regularly. pipe tobacco is still the only tobacco not taxed to death as cigarettes and cigars are. seems there is protection for the pipe smoker and I wonder how much longer that will last. thanks for watching.

Thanks for this video. I've been wasting pipe cleaners trying to dry out the alcohol when I could just let it sit and dry out on its own. Hope you're safe and well.

Very informative and enjoyable! I do pretty much the same thing, except that for the part where you used a paper towel, I use a baby wipe (got into them when we had small children; they are great for lots of things). Also, instead of the alcohol, I use vodka. Not that my way is better or anything, just different. You have more pipes in your rotation than I do! Thanks, always fun to check out another pipe smoker's methods :-)
@SoybeanFarmer3300

defuse56 - vodka? I've used vanilla brandy. it cleaned good but was not an acceptable flavor lingering in the pipe. thanks for sharing your thoughts in your comment with me.

I dont know anybody that smokes a pipe but pretty neat. Didnt realize that you had to clean them. Why do they have to rest?
@SoybeanFarmer3300
@SoybeanFarmer3300 7 лет назад
Ted Kahler - pipes need to rest so they have time to dry out. tobacco has a lot of moisture in it that soak into the wood. the best tobacco in the world will taste bitter in a wet pipe. 4 or 5 days of rest will allow the wood to dry. thanks for watching.

Cleaning a pipe and then infusing a pipe with a particular flavor are two totally different things. Stick with isopropyl alcohol for cleaning. Try whatever infusions you think you might like. Allow at least 3 days for the alcohol to dry out of the pipe before you infuse the pipe with some particular flavor that you might like to attempt to enjoy. There was a cherry bourbon by Jim Beam I wouldn't drink the stuff but it did make a nice infusion with the cherry coming out rather nicely. 🙂☕

What about the little bit of alcohal on the pipe cleaner that goes in the mouth piece....Do you clean it? That is do you insert a rolled up tissue or something to remove the alcahol?
@SoybeanFarmer3300

Yes wiping the alcohol residue out before putting the pipe up and into it's minimum 7-Day rotation is a very good idea.

What`s the story behind the Canadian one dollar bills on the wall. Your in North Carolina, right?. We use the $1 coin now, "The Loonie" because it has a loon on it, not because most of us are loonie, LOL. Paper dollar bills are not very common at all. I smoke a pipe occasionally but my cousin smokes a pipe all the time. I'm a big, big cash cropper , bout same size as yourself. LOL Thanks SBFarmer. doug. SW ontario.

@dimitrijekrstic7567
@dimitrijekrstic7567 5 лет назад
@@SoybeanFarmer3300 I know it's an old comment, but the reason it cleans better is because it has a higher water content meaning it doesn't evaporate as quickly, which in turn means it has more time to act. It dissolves oils and this is mostly what is making our pipes sticky and stinky. Take care

@@SoybeanFarmer3300 nice of you to answer! Another great way of cleaning, although it is for deep cleaning purposes, is a retort. I find it to be cheap and easy, and it also does a lot that can't be done using pipe cleaners, and it is supposed to be safer than the salt and alchohol method.

as I'm sitting here watching this, I'm asking myself... the bible says. touch not the unclean thing, I know that refers to drinking and smoking, but I guess the question is... is smoking cigars just like smoking in general? are cigars bad for a person's health like smoking is?
