What's your routine for cleaning your smoking pipe?

I’m new to pipe smoking. I’ve seen some people say it’s important to build up that kake to protect the bowl and so you don’t get the burnt wood taste. They never said you need to take it off occasionally. Recently my pipe has been making all my tobaccos taste off. I use a pipe cleaner after every smoke but now I’m going to give it a thorough cleaning which I’m sure will help. Thanks much for sharing your pipe maintenance routine; very helpful.

'Your pipe' as in you only smoke one? Give that thing a rest and get another pipe. A pipe can go sour if you smoke it every day. Don't smoke it too hot either, that will make your tobacco go off. I suggest you get a few cheap cob pipes. They smoke really good and they are the right price to get you going. Ideally you should have a pipe for every day of the week, but you can get by with three, so you can give each pipe two days off to dry out and air out. You can smoke a real meerschaum almost every day, but even those will begin to get sour if you smoke it constantly. There's a lot to learn, don't give up.

You should try some rubber softys for your pipe stems. I boil mine in water for about 5 minutes then I clean them with whiskey because new rubber has a bitter taste. Really protects your stems and your teeth. It's a game changer.

I've tried them. Not a fan though. I don't like the feel of the rubber. Everyone has their preference though!

dude at :8:04, I love that long pipe! the long stem one. It's so pretty! I'm smoking a pipe now, cause it feels better. I'd rather loose tobacco vs a cig. I can't even roll my own anyway lol. either way thanks man.

After you have smoked a pipe you should run a cleaner through it to my understanding but the pipe cleaner doesn't go round the bend so should I just wait till it cools down
