Cleaning the air filter: beating or blowing out method?

Just take it out at half way mark of service interval. Give it a few gentle taps to dust some of it out. Don't bother being aggressively beating it like a carpet. Doesn't need to be fully cleaned. Then you will be running the remaining half way with a relatively cleaner air filter than usual. Replace new airfilter at service interval.

Toyota recomends cleaning their filters 3 times before replacing. Then, after 60.000 km you put new one (standard driving conditions). And Toyota produces the most reliable cars in the word. Every Toyota repair instruction includes manual for filter cleaning (blowing metod). Filter's producers say - no cleaning, only replace. The truth is in middle - one cleaning (after 15000 km) - replace after next 15000 km ;-)

Why don't they make filters with washable materials such as cotton or sponge?

How about using vacuum cleaner?

What about the dry and oil filters that are reusable and made to be cleaned and then reused like K & N and AFE Pro Dry ...

How about dipping it it 100% isopropanol?

Wash it in the dishwasher 4 times let them drain an dry for a week

Just blew out my 500$ hepa filter with air and then learned I need to now buy new ones :(

Just a gentle breeze with an hair dryer will extend life of filter without drawbacks
