Got a question or two: can you get ethanol free gasoline in your area and are you adding a lead replacement additive to the gas you are using? Old gas engines need the lead to protect the valves and seats from spalling (called a burned valve) and ethanol eats most all rubber and rubber seats in the fuel system.

I do have the option for ethanol free gas. However it's .75 more a gallon. This 706 anyway has hardened valves and seats in it as it has to have had a good overhaul in the not to distant past. I'm pretty sure my 1950 Farmall c does too. The others I'm unsure of. They all run very well without the lead additive. Most all rubber parts made since ethanol are made to work with it. I don't have the issues with gasoline that people complain about, I run the carburetor dry when I shut them down and the ethanol seems to prevent varnishing in the tank. I'm going to be getting everything out of the barn soon so we'll find out how my theory works some haven't ran in 2 years.
