A Kentucky boy, back in Kentucky. By way of several other states. Were cleaning up and getting ready to start hay production. Wheat, soybeans, and corn are not out of the question. Mechanic by trade. Farm kid by birth, jack of all trades by choice.
That orange looking paste in the bottom is deteriorated form a gasket or silicone the gasoline ate away at it and caused the paste to form in carburetor
Went to the local equipment rental shop to see if they might have the shutoff valve. They didn’t, and I wasn’t surprised. They DID have an oring which I put on the stem and it no longer leaks. 2 cent piece cost me a buck. Best $.98 cent mark up ever!
Video made 5 yrs ago so I’m guessing you’ve figured the cub 22 out by now or have moved on from it. But just in case, these are reliable. I use mine every year and about the only thing that breaks is the pitman arm. Couldn’t tell if the flat metal piece was broken at first part of video. If not, then the knife bar is set too far back. That metal piece should be straight with backward pressure on knife bar. Also, you can get a double knife section to put on end of bar to help with clogging at the end. IH made a triple section for that, but I don’t think you can find one now.
I won’t use 15-40 oil on my farm pro 2420 I was running it and could not build oil pressure my neighbor said he only runs 30 weight diesel oil so I switched to it and it builds great pressure so I also use it in my IH 454 and I never heard of calibrating a dip stick
30wt works for older engines. If they have been overhauled after 2000 or possibly a little earlier the bearings don't require the extra zinc. I never had issues with 15w40 in the cold but yes 30wt is thinner in cold. If you are running in very cold you should consider an even lighter oil. Dipstick calibration is just marking the correct oil level on the stick pretty simple idea. It is a caterpillar term though.
Man I been messing around with my 584 for 3 or 4 years trying to get the 3 point to work right, doing pretty much the same as yours it would move full range with the draft but maybe just a 1/4 the way with the lift leaver, I've had a couple filter changes an O rings here and there . I hooked to the plow this spring and it quite lifting all together, so I'm going to rip the covers off and follow your lead . Thanks for the help I thought I was the only one with hyd oil dripping in my ear and not gaining on the problem. Up in western Pennsylvania woods. Thanks again
So…..family crisis ??? …..financial crisis ???……maybe just tired of making RU-vid videos?? What ever the reason you’ve retired from video making I’d just like to say thanks so much for all you’ve done, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching what you’ve been up to on your farm, it’s been great. If you ever come out to visit the land down under please make contact, I’d love to meet you. Regards from your friend Down Under.
Hey mate, haven’t heard much from you lately, hope everything is ok with you and yours. All the best for the Christmas period and have a prosperous new year. Regards from Down Under.
I grew up on a 484 back in the early 80's- I have to say I'm a little surprised to see it pull that plow like that without much trouble at all, if any. Seems to pull it just fine. My dad's 484 seemed to really struggle with pulling a 3 point disc harrow, so I wasn't expecting this. Good ol' tractor, that 484, and from what I remember that engine is damn near bulletproof- just about can't tear it up as long as you take care of it.
Hey mate, what’s been happening? Hope you and yours are fine, here’s wishing you and family have a wonderful and safe Christmas period and a prosperous new year. Regards from Down Under. P.S. How did the corn harvest go?
I replaced the battery installed the alternator. Removed the factory wiring and voltage regulator. Ran a 2 gauge wire from the starter to the alternator. Put on a 12v coil with built-in resistor.
I just bought a used explorer, same year. Was driving to work tonight and wanted to test the cruise control. Drove it at 71 on the highway for maybe 6 minutes and the orange check engine light came on. What do you think?
For manuals check farm manuals fast. Case IH still carries parts, also bates corporation is a good source. Depending on what you need lights/switches filters, local parts stores should be able to help.
I have several old machines and I use them all sparingly. They are simple and easy to repair if necessary. But mostly it's low usage but use that keeps them going.
@@rivervalleyfarm482 Yes, today the 1st of September is the first day of our spring. Australia is of course the land of droughts, and the one we are experiencing just now is extremely bad. You would think that with the amount of droughts this country has we would be accustomed to it by now, but I can’t seem to get comfortable with it. Certainly hope the drought you have is nothing as bad as what we are having. Regards from Down Under.
@@rivervalleyfarm482 I took mine apart this morning the linkages under the plate were all hooked up still. The one thing I did notice when I took the steel plunger from in the valve that has hole through it is that it showed signs of wear on one side. I didnt have new oring to change it just curious on your thoughts about the wear one that if fluid could be bypassing it
@@justingarrison8632 it would take a serious amount of wear for it not to work at all. So try dead heading your remote valve and see it it raises then. Also move the draft control lever all the way to light and see what happens
They are thin enough that working around them with a small hammer works pretty well. If that doesn't suit you find a socket or something that is just slightly smaller than the bearing and drive it in.
I am good. Thank you for asking. Looking forward to corn harvest. I promise to film it. And actually post it. I'm having camera phone and computer troubles.
Thanks for the update, pleased you’ve getting something for your efforts, next crop will be better for sure. I find you have to be an eternal optimist if you’re going to be a farmer. Regards from Down Under.
Hey mate, what’s happening in your part of the world? Haven’t heard from you in a while, missing your interesting videos, hope everything is ok. Regards from Down Under.
