I really should have done a little more testing once I got this furnace to a quiet place, but I didn't. That is good for you, because now you get a good video on how to clean the burner assembly on a Dometic furnace.

"I wasn't holding my mouth right" - at that moment I knew I was following the right RV tech, as you were speaking my language. Lol I'm your neighbor down in Tennessee, so I understand that Appalachian dialect. I am an RV tech in training, so I really enjoy your videos! Thanks for taking the time to do them!

Thanks for pulling out the burner assembly. I need to maintenance mine on a 2015 model that is exactly like the one you did. So might have wasted your time a year ago but saved me a bunch of time!😅 Love your comments as much as I do your actual work.

One of my customers complained his furnace wouldn't work. Fan came on and shut off after 20 seconds. So, I remove the sail switch and it has hair on it, whatever it was, lol. I removed it, still wouldn't fire, it would lite but go right out, lite, go right out. Well, his LP tank was low, we we swapped it out with a freshie, lit right up and stayed running. This was three weeks ago. Yesterday He called, said it was doing the same thing again, I figured the sail switch was intermittent. Definitely wasn't that, just lights, flame dies, lights, flame dies. SO, Monday I'm going to pull that burner out and see what's down there. Maybe the electrodes are out of spacing, something simple. We're in North Florida so he's only used it a handful of times. In closing of my essay here, thank you for the video! I couldn't remember how to get down in there, haven't done it since tech school! Great channel, brother! Subscribed!

All of us fight those stupid intermittent furnaces issues. Darren at “my RV works” is experimenting with data loggers. You should contact him about those. Tell him I sent you.

Great video Kenny. You explained each step so we could follow along. Enjoyed this. See James from AZ Expert was wearing one of your hats and gave your channel a plug. I know you’ve done the same for him. Profession respect both ways. Nice!

Awesome video. Helped me disassemble mine. Had dirt dobbers inside it. It was firing and making heat but would blow cold air. Top of the heat exchanger was warm but was cold on the bottom, not exhausting very hard due to the blockage. Thanks again

Apparently mud dobbers are MUCH worse in other parts of the country than they are here.

Yeah I’m into this situation now . Ran fine yesterday but no ignition today. Probably the board because the sail switch and gas valve are working. Sure appreciate your video !!

The only way to get exhaust fumes inside is if the firebox is cracked. You better get that checked out.

I’ve been trying to figure my Atwood out for two years now. Not getting 12 volts to the gas valve so I’m getting no click for the propane to flow. All new parts too. At a loss. If I hook up 12 volts from a different source I get the click and propane flows right through but once I hook it back up I get the igniter clicking away but no gas valve opening
@hillbillyrv
@hillbillyrv 3 года назад
After the control board sees that the sail switch is closed and the high limit switch is closed, it should send 12 volts to the gas valve. You have to be losing 12 volt somewhere in this circuit.

@@hillbillyrv I was thinking maybe a bad ground?

@@mattpowers6015 If everything but the gas valve works? Bad ground ?????
@mattpowers6015
@mattpowers6015 3 года назад
@@hillbillyrv just went out and put new wire connectors on wires and cleaned up the grounds. I’m thinking the dinosaur board I bought might be faulty because I’m only getting between 8.5 and 9 volts from the red wire coming from the board to the gas valve and I’m not hearing that click from the solenoids when the igniter goes off.
@hillbillyrv
@hillbillyrv 3 года назад
@@mattpowers6015 you need more voltage than that to open the gas valve.

I have the same furnace but mine is attempting to light after the gas comes in. Then it ignites and a small boom happens. I replaced the sail switch and same issue…I turn on furnace at thermostat, blower comes on, gas comes, then a delayed clicking of the igniter. I don’t get it and I can afford to pay a guy like you…help!!
@hillbillyrv
@hillbillyrv Год назад
If it is trying to light it is not the sail switch. It can be several things. Hard to say for sure.

Please oh please help. Furnace works for about 2 or so cycles then loud popping on ignition (as if too much gas). Also strong propane (exhaust) when running. 2 techs and tons of $$, still not working. Exhaust had mud daubers but tech said he got it. Black soot on exhaust thinking it must still be dirty so perhaps ignition delay causing the popping? About to pull it myself and see if maybe replacing the burner will do it? Thoughts?

Has anyone torn it all the way down and cleaned the oriface? Or did they damage the oriface?

@@hillbillyrv cant know for certain. I'm waiting on the replacement burner to come and plan to pull and see what I can find. Will look closely at the orifice and say a prayer that my wants match up to my actual capabilities. :) Thank you for replying.

@dwith850
@dwith850 Год назад
@@2wheelseparationanxietydis271 still waiting on the burner to come in. Too much work to pull unit "just to see". Hoping to have replacement parts in hand before tearing it down. Let me know if you find your solution, please?
@2wheelseparationanxietydis271
@@dwith850 my trailer doesn’t have an access panel on the outside. The wires are too short to pull the unit out of its cubby hole. I had to rotate the unit 90 degrees to access the sail switch. I don’t have the money to pay anyone so I’m kinda screwed. I’m rocking a Mr heater buddy to stay warm in the meantime. I will let you know when I finally figure it out but it might be a short while. Let me know if the burner fixes it?
