It takes a little more effort to pull the ladder up behind you after you’ve climbed it, to keep building upon what you’ve already done. Sure, it would be easier to climb back down and do the same thing again, but where would that get you? Once you’ve climbed up the ladder of success, set the ladder higher, and climb it again. With a little more effort, you can turn the ups and downs into ups and ups, and continue moving ever higher. Father in heaven, we don’t want to be people who simply “rest on our laurels” or settle for good enough. Help us to work continually, creating a habit of steady growth. Help us to keep growing in our work, as fathers, as mothers, as sons and daughters and friends. We want to grow, not just reach an arbitrary level of good enough. In Jesus name, AMEN! Only small thinkers believe there is a top to reach. Big thinkers never stop climbing.

Father in heaven, we humbly ask for Your help to react with kindness when coming face to face with those who are rude. The numbers matter, and yet so do such things as ideas, integrity, sincerity, knowledge and commitment. Short-cutting quality to increase quantity, whether in business, relationships or personal development, at best brings gains that are only temporary. Lasting achievement, whatever the endeavor, comes from a commitment to excellence every step of the way. Father in heaven, today we are learning the importance of doing everything with excellence.
