Cleaning the Smith Wesson MP Shield 380 EZ - Bill's Gun Shop & Range

It’s important to avoid depressing the grip safety while doing disassembly. It can cause the slide to lock up.

Just bought me the Smith & Wesson Mission performance 380 ezshield in the black trimmed out in gold, gold barrel and gold trigger and gold back strap and it is a beautiful gun and don't shoot bad either.

Buying this as my first gun today!

I use Lucas Red bearing grease, on the slide and wings, applied with a hobby brush (Walmart) and a synthetic machine oil (mobile 1) on the internal parts that pivot and or slide. Oil contains solvents to make it thin. Solvents continue to evaporate leaving tar or asphalt and gravity pulls the oil out of the intended lubricated area.

I don't use oil. After brush cleaning with Hoppes and wiping dry, I use Lucas Red bearing grease applied with a hobby brush in the slide grooves and frame groove wings. I use a drop of synthetic machine oil on the internal bearing and pivot parts. (Petroleum lubricant's evaporate and turn to asphalt - Synthetic lubricants don't) I refresh the lubricant in every firearm I own ever other month. I don't have failure or rust.

Clear and concise, MOST helpful; thank you! The only thing - and coming from a super-rookie - is if you'd have said something about where on the barrel you were placing the oil. I saw 2 drops (?) in the front, 2 in the back, yet wasn't exactly sure where/why those places on the barrel. But again, SUPER helpful and provided me the knowledge (and courage!) to get the necessary supplies to clean my firearm! :)

good video but you didn't say which way the pin should fit in so the slide wouldn't go on...would have been helpful as it's the first time I've ever cleaned a gun.
