I just wrapped a dive in Lake Banook and took out all this trash. A big thank you to Christine and her family for not only helping me out, but tracking the data for eOceans.
Thank you to BLU3 for the Nomad. I found it very easy to set up and use and loved the extended range.
Nomad is a battery powered dive system that delivers you compressed air from the surface through a hose as you breathe underwater to a maximum depth of 30 feet. Extremely compact and user-friendly, Nomad provides 45-60+ minutes of dive time per battery, depending on diver usage.

Sean God Bless to you and your family for cleaning up that mess. It is frustrating to see what people throw in the water. 👏👍😀

Fyi: raw human sewage still goes into banook. The city can’t pinpoint where it stems from. I swam there a lot as a child. As an adult I’ll occasionally swim there with an immediate shower after ! I pick up a lot of garbage that I can reach from swimming and from my kayak. Glad you are doing it too. 😀

I was told where one section of stuff flows from, but hadn't heard about the raw sewage. Def took a shower after this haha

Great video Sean! Thanks for doing all you do to make our NS waters better for all of us. It rather disappointing to see how disrespectful people are to throw all that trash (can’t even imagine about the coffee maker) into our waters. I’m sure you could clean Banook for a month and hardly scratch the surface. Thanks for sharing!!!

I will never understand Sean how people of any age think it is ok to throw things in the water. I am so disappointed at times and this is really one of them. A coffee machine? Thank you for taking all of that from the lake and bringing this to attention beyond finding the treasures you find.

Found this vid on FB, just live up the street a bit. will say the weird plastic thing you found that is being looked at around 18:27 was the middle piece from the old Power Rangers Dragon Zord from the 90's. it made sounds and lit up and you could take the Dragon Zord a part to add it to the Megazord

Lake Banook has two drainage points in the middle of the lake. One is near the bridge connecting it with Micmac Lake and the other is near the canoe clubs. The last time the lake was drained using them was when the old Mic Mac Rotary was demolished and the Parclo was built in it's place. There used to be a public beach at Grahams Grove Grove. Some really neat stuff was found in the lake back then.

Been all across Canada, and love my home province but, the east coast has a major problem with littering compared to the rest of the country our road sides and popular fishing areas are a disgrace not to mention any body of water that has areas out of sight enough to dump crap without being seen, no need to go to a shop, if you need a spare tire just hit the closest lske
@SaltwaterSean
@SaltwaterSean Месяц назад
I've seen a lot over the years. Some areas are better than others, but yes it seems to be a growing problem.

@SaltwaterSean dude do governors lake in lakeside go in at the post office and back past the fencing and follow path out its a couple hundred yds and you be on what we called cox's rock there was a house way back the belonged to the cox family and a the cox's gas station used to be where the post office is now, the whole cove, cox's rock and the point should be covered in stuff dating back for over a hundred years, I think parts of the house were pushed in and there used to be a coke machine door visible from the rocks on the point and it hand be there a long time and that was 40 years ago when I was a kid.

@SaltwaterSean also if you continue on the st Margaret's Bay road for a couple more kms heading out of the city there's a business called r and r pools, there's a good sized stillwater behind it that can be accessed from the rails to trail there was a old jeep in there when I was a teenager, my buddy lived in the house next to the pool place and had raft we used to pole around the still water on, the jeep was towards the head of the stillwater and sitting on its tail with the head light and grill pointing up

I have to say it's not as bad as I thought it would be. Any pollution is bad obv but I was expecting more.
