As a trucker of tractor-trailers for 46 years, I was involved in one of these types of accidents about 10 years ago. The sounds of Impact and People's screams still haunt me to this day. I drove to conditions and was 2nd truck in the pileup I was in. After it was all done about 5 trucks and 20 cars. No Fires thank god... People need to drive to conditions. By the way, my tractor-trailer, I was the only driver of them all, that gt to drive away. My heart and condolences to the families who passed away... unbelievable.
Condolences to the families of the deceased. Police and county officials should be vigilant with monitoring tow companies and rates charged, as fraud can be prevalent in these instances. Its a sad comment on our society.
Rule of thumb has always been if there is less than 10ft of visibility you don't drive period. Truckers especially should understand that. I am sorry but to have this continue to happen in the U.S. we have a really not smart citizenry.
@@JackDoff4U They still should have gotten warnings. I was on the interstate through there but going west and between me and my SO we got 6 total warnings for snow squalls in the area.
A lot of the truckers who lived, won't have jobs after this. And if no other trucking company will hire them, then they have just lost their entire career. That four wheeler near the end of the video, was driving way too fast for road conditions. You have to decrease your speed 75% on snowy roads like that!! Snow, go slow, Ice, no dice!!
Trucks and cars drive like the devil is chasing them up thru 81,it's crazy. You can thank the implementation of the eld,and nuts in little 4 wheelers on drugs, at least they drive like they are.
My good people let this event be an image to remember in the event you are involved in such a situation. Extricate yourself if at all possible from such a crash and remove yourself away. I have heard so many officials say remain in your vehicle but I say do not! You see why here. God bless everyone. 🙏

Zero visibility ... Snow squalls , mixed with fog. Icy roads , near impossible to brake/stop. How does one deal with these conditions? HAMMER DOWN. Murica...
Police need to take them trucker licens away going to fast when they come to the crash see where them trucks push them might be hard to see but need slow down
That's exactly correct.Didn't hear about this back in the 1970s and 1980s.Today it seems like you hear about this all the time.It's mostly the people keep speeding on the conditions.
Even if you're going only 50mph, that's about 73ft/second. So even if visibility is 100ft, that gives you only 1.5 seconds to react. Can't stop an 18-wheeler in 1.5 seconds. Can't even stop a CAR in 1.5 seconds, even on a DRY road.
You watch the one video from a truck and you could see, wasn't a total white out. More like limited visability. Another person said it started to snow and progessivly kept getting worse. That's a warning to people to slow down. Not the trucks, nope full speed ahead. Then that big SUV, he looked like he was doing at least 80 when he hit the black car and spung it around almost hit the guy next to it. A bunch if not all of these clowns need fined and the ones who killed people Charged for killing innocent people.
Interesting that you contradict your own statement about trucks. I drive a truck and it’s 4 wheelers who F everything up. Selfish, impatient, rude horrible drivers in cars that cause more accidents BY FAR than trucks.
Most drivers (men especially) never consider weather conditions and driving speed. The odds of getting killed in a limited visibility event are pretty low. Now go back to what you were doing and forget this tragedy occurred.
Dude, I am a male 70 & have not any issues driving those interstates . Do not generalize about driving due to gender. My opinion is that many drivers today male, female, young & old have terrible skills on the roads. Too many distractions cause a helluva impact.
@@mikeperry1620 Men are wired mentally and physically to drive better., they take more risks when driving. Women have better driving records even though less skilled and the insurance stats prove it.
This is a message to everyone not a psychopath / sociopath. Please everyone start reporting people that are speeding to the police. If you see someone going 10 miles above the speed limit call their license plate in! This is insane and we should not put up with it anymore!
I am very familiar with this section of highway, it runs along the top of a mountain, this section of 81 is known for extremely unpredictable conditions. It can be clear and in the next mile massively dense fog, or rain turning to freezing rain / snow.
