That 28ft viz sounds insane. I fish some smaller lakes that often have 15+ ft visibility and tough finicky fish. TB's tips are the ones usually being passed around and discussed at the launches. They work! Great video!
That’s the best way I’ve heard it said - “fish the visibility line” - great advice! I’m excited to keep that in mind and put it to use fishing some clearer water this week
If you do throw a ton of big rocks in one spot and next time you come you can fish that spot if will make a rock pile where there wasnt one and will hold crawfish etc and bass blue gill shad etc will use that pile most likley especially in a pond with no rocks
I never get pissed when kids throw rocks and things into the water, that's just kids being kids. What drives me nuts is striped bass fishing off piers and adults constantly shining their head lamps into the water and throwing their clam shells into the water. I try to explain to them as they cast a mile out onto the flats that we are standing on the structure that attracts them, they are traveling miles and miles along beaches with no features to get to spots like this rock jetty to feed, stop shining the light into the water and just lob the bait into the water so its close to the structure. They always fish with bells on the rod tips so for revenge I keep a bell in my pocket and ring it once an hour when nobody is looking lol.
Thanks for sharing that information. I don't like fishing clear water but I feel more confident now. I will down size my approach and give a try. Thanks again.
Bro I just grabbed the last one at bass pro my gf said it looked cute so I got it (I have basically everything) and It is nasty I looked it up and was like damn babe best guess in the whole store 😂
Great stuff! I hate watching your videos this time of year. The water is starting to freeze over her in Indiana and your videos make me want to leave work and fish! Keep up the work fellas.
Exceptional video presentation on clear water fishing. I have resisted fishing baits since the water is cold. Thank you for helping me to understand the stealthy method and fishing the dark line.
Thank goodness.....I moved to a very clear water lake in NC 4 years ago and having lived in the south all my life I'm used to swamp water, mud water, etc. I've struggled so much - our water clarity here is about 12-15 feet and it's so hard to figure out a clear deep lake!
We've had a lake house on Greers Ferry lake, Ar for years. SUCH a different game than the dirty river system I'm used to! Took me YEARS to catch a few bass on every outing!! It doesn't help that it's a huge pleasure boating lake (I fish early AM, we use the Tritoon after 10 to have fun) and one time I looked down and saw a bug crawling across a rock. Clear as if it was in 3 inches of water in a sink. I looked at my graph and it was 12 foot deep!! I sighed and put down the fun bait I was throwing and now stick to tiny TRD Ned Craws or a drip shot. I wish I enjoyed those baits more, but I just do it to get bit. I grew up and still fish in the Arkansas river, its dammed lakes and tributaries where I can throw a big 'ole spinnerbait and not see it a foot down. I never knew how good I had it until I had to fish that clear lake in GF, lol. Oh well, we are Blessed to have the lake place and the kids are starting families too...so it gets used a lot. Thanks for these tips, sir! May your 2021 be awesome- for all if the TB crew.
Awesome video tim I fish a pond that's super clear 20ft plus of visibility haven't really caught much, I will deffinately apply the info you gave thanks for the video you guys rock!
Every fishery in my region is considered clear water, visibility from 12ft-20ft. Finesse fishing is pretty much all you can do, power fishing won't get you a limit. Luckily we don't have much vegetation in AZ but rip rap bottoms are a constant denominator & they love to eat dark sleepers more than the fish do.
Casting distance is king in clear water if you have a long shaded area you're working, use the wind, everything, on the gin clear waters up here it's everything if you can bomb a cast with spinning tackle and fancy lines and long rods and dark sleepers are amazing, thanks for that one
Congradulations on Your Clear Water Fishing Video Tim. It's really neat to see Tim so Excited about Clear Water Fishing. Because the Bipolar Conditioning of that California "Clear Lake" has such Dirty Visibility, that that lakes name actually qualifies as a real Oxymoron. So well done Tim you found the Clear Lake Water that we always dreamed about. & LOL.
with water temp here in the mid 40"s I am using the Mat Allen swim bait crawl .lol It really does work in stained or clear water and for now any way its the only thing I am getting bit on .Thanks tactical guys
The lake I fish is called Crystal Lake, so this is a nice video to watch. The lake is actually the best underwater gopro video place I know. watching a fish take a lure 20ft down is a cool sight to behold
In my neck of the woods alot of our reservoirs and great lakes are becoming more clear from zebra muscles. This epidemic of the muscles will have catastrophic effects on our waters for years to come. Clear water doesn’t mean clean water. Great video!! Great information!!
Ive heard that zebra mussels are a good thing for the great lakes because they are filter feeders so they help clean the water, 30 years ago the great lakes were disgusting mud holes filled with pollution from what ive heard
@@liamthefishingguy Zebra mussels destroy boat engines, kill plankton, and kill crayfish. They were brought over from Russia. We didn’t know to much about them, but they remove to much from the water it causes algae blooms that are toxic to humans and fish. Alot of waters in Ohio and Michigan are being destroyed right now.
I went to a small pond at a park in town and the water is pretty clear there too, but it's very shallow, no more than probably 5ft in the middle, so I didn't even expect any bass there. But I was looking and saw a HUGE bass swim by a school of bluegill. I bet it's at least 5 pounds. I was fishing for bluegill with worms so I cast near the bass multiple times but apparently it wasn't hungry or was being lethargic, a cold front just passed. And visibility line? Again there it's a very shallow pond so you can see all the way to the bottom.
I don't know if you already have one of these videos, but you guys should do one on fishing lakes with no fish finders to help people who don't have them but have boats. Like myself, I have 3 park lakes where I can rent a row boat and toss a trolling motor on it and fish the lakes but it is hard to find fish sometimes. Maybe a video on how to recognize where drop offs, ledges or points are based on what the bank is shaped like if that's possible.
@@tacticalbassin Awesome! Thank you. I will try to track down that video. Your normal stuff has helped quite a bit the last few years and I appreciate it!
Lake maps and if your lakes have decent clarity, Google Earth are invaluable. I’m a bank guy and I use Google Earth whenever possible to find bigger stuff like channel swings, humps and even old submerged timber lines along creek channels.
Hey guys! Garrett Honaker from Sterling Gray Outfitters. Loved this video and plan to put these tips to work on the Ohio River. Speaking of.....The Ohio is tough fishery. You guys should travel up to the Ohio to do a few shows. Some the best bass fishing is on the Meldahl pool, and Racine pool. Smallmouth guys like the Montgomery pool. Check it out! We could sure use your insight in unlocking this fishery. If you are in the Area of Mayville, KY... look us up!
Being in mid east Illinois we have a lot of 0-2ft visibility any more than that is clear to us typically we use ned rigs or drop shots with black or dark brown baits in clear water they always seem to work. Burning a blue craw colored swimjig kills too
After watching you guys and cobi destroy on the okishira and spark shad, I finally added it to my box. these pre spawn smallies wont know what hit them. once the ice melts!
Lol don’t have to worry about clear water here in N.C. , I love it when I get to fish clear water since u can downsize and the fish will still come from a long way
@@egomaniac247 lol not all of it but generally no is known for stained water lol come to lake Michael in manage or lake holt reservoir and you’ll see some damn clear water as well, but the bigger lakes like falls lake, Jordan lake etc have dirtier water
I fish Whiskeytown Lake the most all year and it can be 40ft visibility no problem and is so accurate on many things he brought up “speed kills” “ light line” “long cast” “ silent you’re phone and talking” etc etc..... Any suggestions on what kind fluorocarbon line you think works best in clear water?
Great video! Lots of info there. Could you recommend a budget reel that DOES have the “back-reel” feature? Thanks again to you both for a great channel.
What about cranks with or without rattle also any thoughts on clear water with mountains of submerged vegetation. Depth maybe 12 to 15 feet but you have veg halfway up. No hard structure in sight to bounce, struggled today on a lake that I've done decent on but it is summer time so that veg decided to grow
@@egomaniac247 hey I've lived by the tar river for years. I've seen it clear maybe a handful of times over the 14yrs I've lived here . And even then its murky
@@simonsaysr1994 When we were moving to NC i was looking for places near water and considered near the Tar and Yadkin....but they always looked like Nestle chocolate milk!
Where did I go wrong? I bought the spark shad 3” and the okashira heads. They both have eyes so do I cut the eyes off the shad? I’m a noob so apologies if this is a dumb question
I fish spring fed water, the water is 70/72 year round, it’s super clear, and it has really big largemouths. I bank fish there once a week. A bad habit I built, I have bad eyesight and I want to get 2 feet away from the water and they see me and get finicky and either they’ll swim off or if you throw any lure couple feet away they’ll swim off. So I started casting way ahead cause I kinda figured where they hang out. And stayed back.
I do have a question Tim you talk about shallow water and the shadow line.if there is a deep drop off where the shadow line begins they won't necessarily be up shallow in the clear water correct? Thanks!
What’s your guys thoughts on using the NRX 894c for T-rigging a creature bait in timber, docks, and sparse vegetation? 20 pound line east Texas. If not then what rod? Using a E6x 894c right now but want to step up
Hi I live in the midwest Wisconsin. I do a lot of smallmouth fishing in Lake Michigan. Where are some of the nice places to catch bass around my Marina bye the Pier that leads out to the middle open channel or inland. I don't know if you fish in the Milwaukee area by the McKinley Bay Marina just wanted to know what where would you fish for bass in that area and it's very clear water .
I subscribed about a year and a half ago. Love your channel. What do you recommend or are you going to do a video when you encounter a really muddy lake? For example you dropped your bait off the shore and within 4 in of the surface it's gone, you can't see it. Forgot to mention that we're talking about Maryland. It is one of the only states that does not have any natural lakes. All of the lakes in this state are man-made. Seems strange, but if you look it up, you'll find out its true. Maryland is a state that never had a true lakes, and all of them were made by man. The ones that obviously were made they did a poor job of ensuring the water was clear. They're just run off pools to keep flooding under control. Some of the larger lakes are actually reservoirs and still the water is extremely stained if you would even call it that. I live in northern Maryland around Frederick, we even have to pay a rain tax. The tax supposedly goes to creating ways for the water runoff to go into the lakes that they've created.
