We still wear jods in South Africa - but we're slowly moving over to breeches and leggings.

Ok so I'm from the US and I keep hearing people from the UK talk about jodhpurs. What's the difference between jodhpurs and breeches? I've only ever bought full seat or knee patch breeches and tights. Can someone plz explain lol

Jodphurs are riding pants that are typically a looser fit that mostly the time have knee patches. They're also boot cut to fit over top of paddock boots and have an elastic strap that holds them down over the boots. In america they're really only seen on young riders in the pony divisions in the hunter jumper discipline, and they're paired with gaurders in the show ring. Then when the kids age up they can wear tall boots and breeches, I know I couldnt wait to not have to worry about gaurders and if my pants stayed long enough from last show season to reach my boots. Some people probably do train in them still in America but they're not the (in) fashion for adults especially, doesnt mean they're not good but it's just not popular.
