With the amount of snow you get up there, it may be a good idea to invest in some snow chains for the tractor. It'll certainly make a difference when pushing the plow. Looking forward to see what you have in store for this new property.
Wow, Eric and Arielle! Moving on the heels of that trip to get the Branson! You both are phenomenal! I am amazed continually by what you both accomplish in a day! I'm looking forward to seeing what this property helps you achieve! The coal furnace/stove is a beauty! Peppercorn, the chickens and bees will surely enjoy their new home! The boys will definitely appreciate the settling in, I'm sure. Congratulations on your new property! Your videography skills and editing are a talent in itself! Thank you for taking us all along!
I’m a little sad you have left the old property 🥲 but looking forward to all the new adventures. Hope Beau and Bandit enjoy their new home. Happy Easter!
A word to the wise on the backhoe. If you are not using the hoe, pin it with both of the pins. Less likely to damage the hoe or other property. Likewise, trying to hydraulicly moving the hoe without removing the pins will likely damage the pins. I know that buying my Branson was one of the best things I have done for myself and those friends that I have been able to help with it. Just today my neighbor again thanked me for moving six yards of gravel for him last fall. Be cautious about getting water or ice into the loader control lever assembly. It can break if you try to force it when frozen. Damage to the rubber boot allows moisture to enter the assembly. Packing the parts inside of the boot with grease helps to protect against ice accumulation. Enjoy your new toy.
I would add to that, when it’s this cold out engines and hydraulics like to warm up a few minutes. Maybe you did and edited that out, but setting the throttle on a fast idle, maybe 1000 rpm for 5 minutes will add many hours of life to a diesel (& even gas) engine. I realize you were also racing daylight, I always am too!
Looking good so far guys! Lots of work to do , you both will eventually get it done! So glad you’re keeping the chickens and the bees! Can’t wait to see the cat again also! Enjoy, love you both!❤
Just wanted to give you a safety tip. I grew up around tractors on the farm, never crank a tractor standing on ground! Many accident has happened that way. Just a tip from an old folk 😉
Gotta admit I’ll be sad not seeing the old property. However, I’m SO excited for the new chapter! Watching Arielle start organizing the jars makes me happy! Lastly.. y’all be sure to take a rest soon, ok?💕
Woke up here in the UK and it's Easter Sunday morning and saw this Easter video gift from you. Thank you Ariel and Eric, better than any chocolate egg! A new Alaskan beginning for you both and not forgetting Bo and Bandit.
Looking forward to seeing the layout of your land without all the snow. It’s been raining and cold for two days here in the South. I’m sure my cold would be your heatwave 🤣. Hope y’all have a wonderful Easter weekend! Take care and God bless! 😀❤️
I'm sure they have a wonderful relationship but you only get to see 30 minutes of their day. It's a video so you can add and take away whatever you like.
Your backhoe attachment should have a locking pin which will keep the boom from swinging left or right during normal tractor use. The boom and bucket should be in the fully retracted (up) position when not in use. You should've also gotten 3 point attachment hardware for using 3 point attachments. Removing the backhoe takes practice. I keep my backhoe stored in my barn on concrete with plywood under the bucket.
Yay! You're in your new cabin! Love your love for each other , your teamwork and can do attitude, and your love of adventure. Bring them chickens home😊
I never commented before but wanted to mention two things: First, congrats on moving in - you both must be so excited; and lastly so cool to hear you purchased from DS Stoves, Gordonville, PA - the area that I was born and raised. I hope the DS Energy Max 160 serves you well in the shop, Eric. Please update us on its performance later. :)
Thanks Eric & Arielle! Love tagging along on your new challenge. It's another phase in life to be exited about, scary or not. We are approaching another phase too 😉 it's so exciting, invigorating, and look forward to what each day will challenge us with. Thanks again for sharing...LOVE YOU GUYS 🥰 ( from SW Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦 )
I’m constantly amazed at the knowledge you both have! Eric with his ability to put together a heater, troubleshoot a generator and change break pads on the fly…Arielle whipping up homemade noodles and breads. The veggies you grow are flawless. Don’t forget to retrieve that beautiful soil when the snow is gone.
So exciting to move to your new home and hitting 700K this summer ! I hope the animals adjust in time and you two take such good care of them they will calm down.
Initially concerned about your move up here into the Interior, however you are certainly well equiped. What an exciting summer ahead. I hope you quickly make local connections to share in doing projects. With this late winter it will take awhile for the ground to unthaw. Nice you are able to mill your wood, but if you ever need some nice larger rough cut wood for heavy duty framing we REALLY like Northland Wood off Cushman Road in Fairbanks.
CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU BOTH!!!🎉🎉🎉 Moving is DEFINITELY hard work!!!😅😅😅 I'm glad y'all have made your move Safe and Sound!!!🙌🙌🙌 I can't wait to see all of the things that are coming!!!💯💯💯 Much Love and Prayers from FL 💖💞🌴🙏💖💞🌴🙏💖💞🌴🙏
Oh I know you guys have a ton of work to do getting your new place like you want it… but I’m excited for you.. how cool is that having moose in your yard 👍🏻 I know your going to be glad that you kept your chickens too.. happy, happy ,happy for your guys
Probably the first YT’ers with a “Watch Moose” , protect them from bad things….slumming for free food (I’m trolling as I have know idea if Moose are that way at all)
It is always so nice to see how you deal with setbacks. Unless there is more off camera your "well that just happened let's deal with it" attitude is such a blessing to watch. Thank you.
Wow didn't expect your move so fast, but how nice just in time for maybe Spring?😊. The tractor was a good buy and makes work so much easier especially with more acreage. Can't wait for the new adventures on your new home. Once again congratulations on your new home. Be Blessed. 😊🇺🇲
Man I would have needed like a month to recover from that trip to get the tractor and here you guys are just going full steam ahead with your move! I’m loving watching the process! I’m sorry you have to wait for the snow to melt to get your shelter thing back in place.
Congrats on the move to your new home. Cant wait to hear the plans, especially for a new garden. So excited to see what you will be building, loved watching the old place start as a bare patch that you grew into an awesome place with all the building work you both did. Gonna be a ton of hard work but I am certain you will make it work. Very happy for you both. Hope Beau settles soon, bless him. Stay safe xx
You all work fast! I wasn’t expecting the move so soon. Can’t wait to see what all you do at the new place. Will you sell your old place or the other two properties or turn them into rentals?
Congratulations on the big move! Do y’all know the neighbor situation? Do you have any? How close is their main structure? Do the have kids? Etc…I’m feeling nostalgic for the original homestead already. You both put in so much backbreaking work just to start over again. A work shop is a must on an off grid property and now you finally have one! The tractor is perfect for the size of your property. Be well and stay safe, Doc✌🏼
Much excitement! The pups will adjust. Having familiar items around and their smells will help. Very happy to see you are bringing the chickens. I know it will be more work initially, but worth it long-term. Have you guys made a decision on the bees yet?? Thanks for another lovely video!❤
Won’t it be nice when you get the last of your things up to the new place? 🤗 I know there is an urgency to ‘get it done’, so I am praying for strength, health & good wisdom in all the decisions you’ll be making ahead. Best wishes for the future, love following your adventures & just your ‘everyday life’! You both amaze me!💪
Wow, Congratulations on moving into your new place! That tractor is way cool. Hoping both the pups and all your other animals will grow to love the new, much bigger space. Blessings and Happy Easter 🐾🐾🙏💜🌎☮️🌎💜🙏🐾🐾
So glad you have everything on this one channel... So many divide their vids into different channels but yours is so interesting with a bit of everything ❤❤
You always look like you're having so much fun with life! I'm happy you have a new, larger home. I am also always struck (impressed) by the amount of vehicles, machinery, equipment (large and small) needed for an off-grid life in Alaska. We have a vacation home isolated in the forest on a large lake in northern Minnesota which has been in the family for 100 years and has always seemed remote. Maybe it was when I was a kid in the 50s, but now a plowed road is closer, we were connected to on-grid electricity 30 years ago (still frequent blackouts with every storm but usually fixed within 24 hours), our water and plumbing is reliable, and 50% of the time we have mobile phone connection, so it is not anything like your situation.
I’m I love your videos. I always have! I am completely convinced that you must write a book about your lives moving to Alaska! Sure you are busy, aren’t we all! I think your focus of this book has two points, first the bravery you possess to move to Alaska AND how you covered the cost to do so! How could you be so brave, so adventurous and so confident to move forward as you did! Just as Dick Prennicke did videos of his life in Alaska in 1968, you could be the new pioneers! How did you summon the courage to move to Alaska? How did you find a place or location that you wanted to live? How did you buy your first home site? What adaptions did you make? What challenges did you face? How did you improve your homesite? Tell us about your solar choices! We’re you happy with your purchases? What would you do differently? What challenges did you face growing food? How devastating was the root cellar? Paint the picture of your struggles for fresh water, outhouse, and income to pay your expenses! You love the outdoors, bring us along to experience your highs and lows, explain what you’re thinking as you work through your problems and your celebrations! Everyone loves the dogs, explain your thoughts and the well being of them and how that may limit your trips but they enrich your lives! The cat is fun but all cats are so independent! I really want to know more about your decision to buy the other property when you already had two properties! How much is enough? Why You clearly show your flair for cooking delicious foods, teach us more! How did you learn to cook? How did you learn to can? How did you develop your style? How did you learn to draw the audience in as you do? You two poses magic in your hands and words, you have such an easy way of describing your experiences and I’ll be that each and every subscriber would be delighted to buy your first 1,000 copies and then the rest of the world would discover you and beat a path to your door to buy your book! You two are clearly so much different from all of the other liar liar pants on fire! I just adore you and ask that you seriously consider writing a book of your experiences! God bless you all! Happy Easter
My English Springer Spaniel had long fur between the toes. It's to protect the pads. Here in Scottsdale AZ, she needed it for the hot days walking if we ran out of grass. I'd freak if the groomer forgot, & cut it all off. Ugh. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You can do pretty much the same things with that tractor. As you could with an excavator and skid steer. It will just take longer. Just remember to take your time. God bless
Wow, wow, wow. I’ve said it before, there’s nothing you two can’t do together, and with grace! Eric looks so happy with his new toy, it is a beast! , I’m happy to hear the chickens will live on too..Happy new home! Can’t wait for the next chapter video 😊
As a Swede Who lives in a country that is 2/3 arctic so i like the video. It's like being at home. North part of Sweden and Norway (Scandinavia) has winter 9 months a year. The snow depth is in some places 3 meters (9ft 10). The temperature can drop to -45° C (-49° F). Wonderful to see people who live like we do. Thanks for the upload.
Really happy for your new place. The thing I notice immediate is space, space, and more space. What a great beginning for a homestead. That snow plow blade did a remarkable job of clearing & piling the snow too.
WOW, Eric & Arielle, your energy levels are amazing! Yet again, you make what most of us would think of as a daunting and overwhelming challenge simply and exciting adventure. You both seem to have mastered your tractor in no time flat! Kudos for all your hard work and Congratulations for setting your course and following through with your move. Can’t wait for your next video! Happy Easter! Maybe it’s an Easter Moose who was setting up your Egg hunt!!!
I am 82 years old. When I see the drive and energy you display in getting objectives accomplished, I just watch in utter amazement ho you appear to go seemingly non-stop. I know you stop to eat, to drink a coffee, but you do that standing. But at least you get the areas clean of snow to be able to move around and be able to store things at the right place, no use moving things twice! Congratulations on what you achieve, including getting the tractor. On the way doing that you almost drove past the house where I live, right in Chilliwalk, BC. I very much enjoy your videos, and thank you for sharing your experiences!
First off - Welcome to your new home! It looks like a resort. How beautiful. I love the Branson, you guys could be the spokespeople for these companies. I'm already sold on the Polaris and your generator and I live in suburbs (hahah). You guys are so amazing and so chill about all the day to day things you do, not to mention all the things that you're doing for a move. So excited to see you all settle into the new place.
Oh, how exciting! I wasn't expecting a "moving" video. I am re-living my younger days when I watch you. The memories my husband and I made are wonderful. You will always cherish your memories as well. Thank you so very much for sharing your life with us. We love every video. Can't wait for your next one. God bless you both!
Everything is coming together! In the spring when you all are ready to move the shelter logic, you could screw either spruce poles or lumber to the legs of the shelter logic and drag the shelter logic into place on the wood as skids. We attached 4x4 pressure treated skids to our shelter logic it helps keep it more ridged as well. Is your wood/coal furnace something that can heat the slab of your shop/ like radiant tubing? If so, here’s an idea… attach a greenhouse to the end of your gable shop wall and run some radiant tubes in a different thermostat zone out into your greenhouse beds, this would extend your growing season. I would first dig out an area and line the area with rigid foam on the ground and up the sides of the perimeter of your greenhouse then fill with soil, and tubes.
you need to look at getting a set of chains for the front wheels on that tractor; it will make a big difference in how much snow you can push with a set of chains on the front wheels
Dog paws: does that fur shed as the weather gets warmer?? My Australian shepherd grows it too, but I always have it trimmed when he goes in for grooming!! Should I just leave it??? 😬
How exciting. You two remind me of a younger version of us. We have always worked together, you have too, living this life style. This is the perfect time to move your bees too…..you are bringing them too, right? I can’t wait to see the next video. Congrats you two. 🇨🇦🌷🐝
Totally amazing that you are moving! That amount of snow is daunting! Not sure how you do it! Just mowed my grass today for first time in ‘23! Going to be in upper 70’s in a few days. Lots of spring flowers in full bloom! Take care and don’t overdo! Hugs! ❤
How exciting a new place to setup! I totally understand the work you all have to do, we’re getting a pod to put our things in temporarily while we get new hard wood floors in, it’s a lot of packing up ugh! Best wishes in your new place, lots of new memories we get to see! It was cool seeing the moose in your yard. I’ll stick with the deer 🦌 in mine lol. Awesome video! Thank you!
OMG! Watching you guys makes me exhausted! So much energy, whew! Love watching your videos and your adventures. Glad the chickens didn’t end up on the plate.😉 My husband has tractor envy. Looking forward to the next project!!
Best couple on RU-vid. I love how real you both are. Hard working and amazing people. I am excited to see how the new homestead comes together and changes; especially with all that you learned from your first Alaska home.
Lots of new stuff to see, gonna be fun. 😁 You two take care and maybe ignore the comment section for a while. Every yenta and their brother knows how to live in Alaska better than you two! Dont believe me? Read their comments. 😂 Ill just say bye till next time.
Just when I didn't think it could get more exciting!!! I love that you just sprung that on us!! So great. Now I cannot wait for the next. Eric your face when you were unloading that first tote with the red beastie .. like a proud dad 😂 Such a joy to watch and as usual, just great filming and editing .. no superfluous scenes .. straight to business!! Woohoo!! Bring it on Spring!
So excited for you both! The Branson is already proving itself to be a great purchase! Good luck with the final stages of the move and can't wait to see your next video. Cheers from Australia!
Good to see you putting your new red tractor to good use straight away, looks like it's going to be a great asset there at the new cabin. Thank's guys for the video update.
Your problem solving skills never ceases to amaze me, as well as the research you do when acquiring a new piece of equipment. I love how people in the know give you advise. What a great online community you have.
🎉🎉🎉 CONGRATULATIONS 🎉🎉🎉 ON REACHING 700,000 SUBSCRIBERS TO YOUR AWESOME CHANNEL @SIMPLE LIVING ALASKA ERIC + ARIELLE, BO & BANDIT, KITTY AND THE HENS🐾🐕🐶🐅🐆🐈🐱🐔🐣🐥
You guys are amazing with the amount of work you get done! The new tractor is really something and much needed for you. Your new cabin is really nice. Moving is exciting and a lot of work, but gratifying to see it take shape.
So excited to see you guys are already moving up there! 🎉 For some reason I thought it was going to be later in the year. That is a bad ass tractor. Love this new place. So much bigger.
Congratulations on the success I started watching your videos from the beginning a few weeks ago and your an inspiration to me for sure , I'd love to learn from you both as you are both super knowledgeable on alot of stuff and one day I hope to move to alaska with my family I love your guys lifestyle, you guys have worked so hard to have what you have and that's just awesome hope to get some lessons from you both when we eventually move over 😀
You always inspire me. The amount you manage to do in those conditions is amazing. Seeing you move with snow as an obstacle to simply getting to the cabin and unpacking your vehicles me realise that our small move here in the relative warmth of Spain is not that difficult and we just need to get on with it! Thank you...
You both are amazing people. I learn something new every time I watch your videos. I honestly believe that you have one of the best channels on RU-vid. I think you should also start a direct link for payment or patreon, so that people can direct donate to you for the work that you do to make these high quality videos every week. I've been sending you guys random "stuff", but I'm sure you could make better use of a monetary donation. Again..... thank you for sharing with us your high quality living adventures.
That new tractor is so badass. For the next 3 months, any time a problem arises, the first question is always going to be, "how can we solve this with the new tractor" hahaha
Congrats on the start of your move!!! So excited for both of you!!! I’m happy you are bringing the chickens too lol since we won’t have a garden this year we will at least have the hens!!! Happy Easter!!!
My GREEN tractor & plow are the same size as your Branson. Consider adding hydraulics for angling your plow. Makes life so much easier. We still have 4" on the level of snow, Except ours is the wetter variety, not as powderly as yours. Makes plowing more difficult. Good luck with your endeavors. Love your vids.
Arielle that is MUSIC to My ears Chickens up there for you all ERIC IS GOING TO LOVE HIS EGGS !!! It is something that is needed at this time !!! Grandma said if we can't have eggs then we eat chickens then !!! So it is a BLESSING for you all to have those creatures up there for you !!! Get a couple of geese they will protect the chickens outside !!! Also the rhubarb how is that doing??? If it made it up just take half of each plant with some of the soil by it and then plant it by each other not close but about a foot apart !!! SOUTH SIDE of the house would be GREAT
Wow, what capacity you both have to get things done, and what a move!!! It’s just overwhelming to see your arrival and how you almost have everything in place. I’m glad you’re keeping your chickens and of course my singing roosters!!! Your dogs are adorable, and so good, I love them. As all following you, I’m looking forward impatiently to see how your life enfolds in your new home. I think it’s going to be lovely. Love and blessings. 👍🫶
I’m excited for you, 🎉but also concerned. The weather there seems more cold and harsh!🥶I think Bo is done with snow!😣So, how close is your nearest neighbors? How close are y’all to town. Will y’all be able to fish and hunt around there?…. I can’t believe how much y’all have moved yourself!😎…I wish your videos were a little longer, but I know yall are crazy busy! God bless!!… be safe!!🙏🏼🕊️💙
You two definitely don't play around. I didn't think that you would move in so soon. Congratulations on the move and I hope that all goes well for you at the new location.
