We're checking out the Click-Stand kickstand in this vid, giving an overview of how it works and why we love it. Yep...that's right, we think it's the best kickstand (!!) for touring cyclists or those who want to prop their bikes but don't want anything attached to their beautiful bici.
It's lightweight, portable, collapsible and super durable!
Link to get order one (*note* no one is paying us to say this...we just like this product and definitely recommend for any cyclist and especially cycle tourists with loaded bikes)!:

What are your thoughts about using a Click-Stand? Already have one and love it? (Clickstanders unite!) Too much effort?? Let us know!

Thanks for sharing this. I needed to see how much work it was to kick it and forget it. I’m currently riding the GDMBR and for me, these are too many steps involved to hop off and do what I need to take care of many times throughout the day in the saddle. I’ll be opting for a heavier version. This kickstand seems good for a once a day sort of thing, I’d be willing to do all those steps to set it up. But for a 6-9 hour day riding, and all my quick pee stops and such, I need a hop off and kick it and do my thing and then in kick it and be riding on

Thanks so much for making this video! I'd been on the fence about getting one for my kickstand-unfriendly frame but worried they wouldn't stand up to a loaded bike. The full demo of the bands and such was really helpful.

Love my Click-Stand on my road bike - I use it all the time and am thinking of getting one for my new touring bike. Just two tips: I find the process easier if I engage the brake band first. It's a good habit to get into lest you put the stand in place and let go of the bike thinking it's stable, which it won't be. Second, I think it's better to lean your bike on the non-drive side, just in case it does fall for some reason.

jerrys88 Ooh good tips. That does make more sense to engage the brake first. I also prefer to lean it non drive side for the same reason. Thanks for sharing !

Tip: Instead of hunting for a rock on soft ground, I carry a metal bottle cap from a wide mouth bottle in my handlebar bag. Just drop it on the ground where the Click-stand tip is going to be and it keeps the tip from sinking into the ground.

That's a great idea! Thanks for the tip. A jar lid would probably work too

Hi Rad Bike. I purchased two of these stands for two different bikes of different dimensions so I have two different length poles. In spite of the brake locks and using both clic stands together I can’t get either bike to stay stable in the slightest wind. It appears the slightest extra weight up front gets the front swinging around in spite of a bungee cord fastener similar to your belt method and the bike(s) fall. I’m going to either leaning the bike against something or on the ground but I did find another use for those stands as a support for a micro siltarp that I use in conjunction with my one person tent. These have proven very useful for that.

C-jay Bows oh wow thanks for sharing about steer stopper. Never heard of it before! Though not sure I like having to put something on headset/ top tube. Honestly if I lean it correctly I don’t need the wheel strap but if you had 4 panniers I could see it being handy!

I had one made for my bike and only used it 3 times. I hear they work a lot better when you use in in conjunction with a device that stops the handlebars from turning. I think I'll get a steerstopper, use the brake bungee my clickstand came with, and lean it up.
@radbikeadventure
@radbikeadventure 5 лет назад
bucket traveler Ya, I don’t use it all the time (often find a place to lean it) but when I do want it, I love it and don’t mind the extra effort to find the right balance, strap wheel etc. 😊
@pyratenomad
@pyratenomad 5 лет назад
That's a nifty little gadget ya got there. Have you tried just fastening the front brake lever and turning the front wheel all the way left after you propped up the Click-Stand? You may be able to skip the cinch on the frame/wheel. I may also be totally incorrect i my assumption, also. Food for thought. ;) I will be going on tour in the next couple of weeks, so I will give that little stand some consideration. Thanks for the info!
@radbikeadventure
@radbikeadventure 5 лет назад
pyratenomad Hmm I think turning all the way would put a lot of strain on the stand and also cause a possible tipping situation. People hear seem keen on Steer Stopper but usually I can turn it just enough to balance wo using the strap. If you get one I’ll be curious to see how you like it! Where are you headed?
@pyratenomad
@pyratenomad 5 лет назад
@@radbikeadventure Yeah, on further thought, I guess that my theory may be a little impractical. One does have to consider that stress put on the frame. I am in Idaho and will be touring West into Oregon, possibly Washington and then down into NorCal, where I grew up. Not as epic as your tour, but a good opportunity to relax and enjoy a simpler life for a while.

I like it!! i've always wondered why bicycles don't have a brake lever locking mechanism like ATV's. I find myself always wanting to stop my bike from rolling off something I've leaned it on, or the kickstand. I use a reusable ziptie at the moment or a reusable velcro tie but i wish there was an integrated level lock.
@radbikeadventure
@radbikeadventure 5 лет назад
Adventures With Daniel Totally! Using a piece of tube works great and I’ve gotten used to feeling the little strap on my handlebars. Don’t really even notice it now and can’t tell you how many times that brake stopper alone has helped me! Actually on a ferry boat right now and it’s keeping things stable!

It doesn't put more strain, it's a myth Americans seems to like repeating to themselves. Looks at Asian or european bikes, they have braze-ons and often comes with kickstands and there are never any frame failures from them. If a kickstand can hold a motorcycle it can hold a bike easily.

Looks like to much work to put your bike away. I'm using 2 kickstands, one on the back wheel and one on the frame of my front panniers. Best way to go imo. But nice video with a good explanation. Thanks girls and enjoy your trip
@radbikeadventure
@radbikeadventure 5 лет назад
Ya no worries, to each their own! I think our major concern was added weight for the central kickstands or the robust ones for the frame. Also we were told that it can put too much pressure on your frame with all the weight cycle tourists carry. Darin's kickstand broke, and now she just leans her bike on stuff and including herself when searching for things in her panniers!

70€ for a bike to stand alone plus extra time to spend to make it stand. Classical bike stands work much better. Did a 18 months tour in South America, used Pletcher bikr stand (incredibly strog) andwas loaded (30kg). No problem at all...

I think is very easy , but i prefer the central kickstand to do maintance on the bike ( even is heavy )
@radbikeadventure
@radbikeadventure 5 лет назад
Ya CLickStand is a good lightweight alternative but will not compare to a sturdy central kickstand. When we have to do light maintenance we tend to lean the bike against something or utilize each other to help hold the bike : )

Let's see...the click-stand... 1. is slower, requiring separate deployment and re-packing procedures 2. is apart from the bike, so it's prone to getting lost 3. is so unstable it requires deployment of an additional component on the brake lever Basically, there's absolutely no advantage to this goofy thing over a traditional kickstand, except if you're a fashion-conscious hipster with an irrational hatred of kickstands and a desperate need to be cool.

An expensive solution to a problem that didn’t exist but that’s how capitalism works I guess. A kickstand would be much simpler to use and less likely to cause your bike to fall on top of you but thanks for showing us this anyway.
@jon6346
@jon6346 Год назад
My frame warranty is voided if I use a kickstand. A loaded touring bike putting all that weight on one point of the frame via a kickstand if it falls can do damage. It only has to happen once.
@radbikeadventure
@radbikeadventure 10 месяцев назад
Yea kickstands are great but they are heavy af to hold up a loaded touring bike. Others we had just snapped off under the load.
