I have climbed the mountain Kilimanjaro 20 times as a burden bearer I love my country Tanzania, I love my region Kilimanjaro, I'm proud to be born Kilimanjaro
I have climbed Kill 3 times . I had attended Machame, and twice Lemosho . My favourite guide is Joseph Marandu from Moshi who is working for Zara Tours. Love my guides and porters, they give all they have to support climbers every step of the way ! I love Tanzania, it’s people. We have so much to learn from! Mungu Awabariki Rafiki Wangu . I left my ❤️in Tanzania 🇹🇿.
I trekked Kili (Lemosho Route) with Zara Tours in 2015. Our Guide was Joseph "Photo" Marandu, too! Our team of 10 all made the summit! It was the adventure of a lifetime.
@kimberly smith They good(Zara tours,no lies)When i climbed Kili never used Zara,My friend hitted by Mountain Sickness and were out of Oxygen on our way down we met Zara tours and helped us wit Oxygen Suppliments
There is something deeply humbling about standing in the high places of the world. The raw untamed world, the sheer physical will it takes to get there. It forces us to look inward and contemplate ourselves. There is an honesty and truthfullness about mountains. Well done all of you. This is a climb I would love to make some day. Beautiful. And what wonderful people your guides were.
21 of jan 2017 at 07:02 I was at Uhuru Peak. Your video is so helpful for those who are making their attempt to climbe Kilimanjaro. In some videos it might seem easy and most of the videos consists of music and footage. Really appreciate your video since it shows how it really is, you get affected with the altitude. NO ONE that has not been at that altitude have any idea how it feels. You can´t breathe but you still have to walk uphill. Thank you and good job walking up that mountain!
I really enjoyed watching you old guys climb Kili! And without your Christian faith, I a sure it would have been much harder. I climbed Kili in 2011 at the age of 55 on the Machame route, so this video brought back a of great memories. Thanks for creating such a fine video, with such a nice personal touch!
At 8:57 the man’s story is like mine. My friend who I just met told me that his greatest dream is climbing Kilimanjaro. I was at a different phase of my life . I was into posh most luxurious resort so sleeping in a tent ⛺️ on the ground wasn’t my cup of tea. Came home and a week later want d to know why my new friend wants to climb Kilimanjaro. It grew on me . Zoom in 8 months in, he and I ventured out to climb. I’m forever grateful to Tomek for his inspiration. Forever grateful to the guides and porters for the experience. I got very sick and had to be evacuated in the middle of the night as my life was hanging on a threat . I m looking at the trail and feel your steps . I know exactly where you are and what I was doing at that point. I still want to attempt the mountain one more time! My Tanzanian friends discourage me out of fear that I won’t make to the summit or die as they see people dying on the summit. May God bless all the climbers on the way to and from the summit! Attitude BEFORE altitude! REMEMBER THAT!
A great account. no body should underestimate the danger and physical challenge of this. It is the hardest thing that i have ever done. only 1 in 4 makes the summit. Ball breaking. a combination of suffocation, sea sickness, pounding sinusitis headache and heart attack. Add to that dehydration and the dreaded dysentery that comes with the filthy dust c/o oral-fecal pathway. fair play to the hard core few that make it.
Thank you for sharing your amazing experience with us. This video was an encouragement for me. Me and my husband are planning on climbing Mt kilimanjaro next year. You all did a great job .
@Smitha Harwood You will have a great experience and a once in a lifetime experience. Just be prepared and remember "If your mind is willing your body will adapt". It takes will power. Also, consider Machame route, no huts and the most fantastic scenery. It will be worth it.And always, listen to your guides, they know. If they say no, it is no. Have a good hike and wish you all the best.
I would love to climb this mountain, but I am afraid I would never get out of the rainforest because I would be too busy looking at all the plants. I would definitely be hanging back with the slowest guy so I could make sure he didn't get hurt and to look at plants.
Congrats to all those who climbed, especially to those who had the sense to stop, thus avoiding a tragedy that would effect the whole and those who were waiting with bated breath below. I'd love to try this mountain some day. I love the rainforest walk.
I submitted in 2012 and just watched this back.. so inspiring and could relate to everything you were saying. God was with me every step of the way too
Lion's pride , there is no shame in failing , congratulations on trying! I’ve tried 3 times ! My favourite camp is Baranco ! I have reached Barafu and needed to evacuate each time! I will attempt again in the future. I love your country, your people . I left my heart there! Mungu akubariki.
Amazing video and stories. Did you know Mt Kilimanjaro is a Holy Mountain? one of 19 in the world. there are energies put in it for us to use. all unselfish prayers upon ii can help others, the world, the planet - whether you know or believe. Your story is very inspiring and i plan on passing it on to others for a trip up we hope to do in Sep2021. I would love to correspond with you and pick your brain about tips and tricks or any advice you are wiling to share. God Bless you all.
Its one of the best videos about walking on Kilimanjaro I have ever seen, and I saw a lot :-D...I´m planing to go there by myself in 2020...I wish I had walked there up with you, guys ...You are such a wonderful, positiv thinking, group...Congratulations, and all my respect, to all of you
Yvonne S. I have climbed as a private client lone traveler and a female . I highly recommend this trip as private ! You walk at your own speed . You have guides and porters. My tour company was Zara Tours . My guide was Joseph Marandu - he speaks English, they have a fantastic cook and they are great knowledgeable staff! You can request a person to guide you if you know someone. I had my own toilet so I didn’t have to walk to the public washroom which is disgusting! And in the middle of the night attempting to get here is a challenge contending with the boldest in your path . I would also advise doing at the time when is a full moon 🌕. Spectacular views even at night ! Good luck ! Jola
I am an overweight and 58 year old Christian and did Everest Base Camp in April 2017. This is by far the more inspirational and informational video I've seen for either EBC or Kili. Too many videos have no story, emotion or spirituality and generally have very annoying music. I plan to do Kili in mid January next year. I have a few questions (1) what training did you guys do in preparation (2) did any or all of you use diamox to alleviate potential AMS (3) if you are slow is there a time limit in doing the summit ascent (4) I had AMS on final day into Base Camp and God helped me to survive that day. I was physically empty and spiritually full. I fear that Kili is beyond but you guys have shown me that a lot of training and plenty of faith can help me to the top.
Rachel Edwards I climbed with Zara tours, my guide is Joseph Marandu. +255 713 454 411. He is one of the best guides! The tour company is arranging everything for you . My trip coordinator was Frank Sululu. The most picturesque trek is Lemosho, I’ve been to Lemosho and Machame. Good luck whenever you decide to go !
Ricardo Martinez many do! I attempted 3 times ! I know that since my friend in Moshi is a rescue person. Just within 8 months he sent 4 bodies in a body bags . This is just one tour company one person. It is no a joke . Still , I would not discourage anyone from going . It was the best challenge of my life outside my school and giving birth to my child !
I love it. I almost turned this off to watch something else. Glad i did not. My best line....I have said it before......"None of this just happened by accident". There had to be a grand designer.
I'm 69 and like bicycling. I'd like to make this climb but with a minimum of drama and maybe expense. Hmmmm. Meanwhile I'm starting to think of some lower peaks. Thanks for the vid! Paul in Thailand
Caesarillion Aurelius go straight to the tour company in Tanzania. It is less expensive. If you are serious, I can contact my friends at Zara tours to help you . They will take a great care of you . Good luck! Its worth while . If you don’t want any drama ask for a private (VIP) tour . 300$ but you go on your own speed .
Inspirational right up to where they're singing amazing grace and one of the guides walks past struggling with luggage tied to his head and the group just watches. Oh well s'pose that's Christianity for you!
RBS1228 I have been to this area, my wife and I have summited Mt Kilimanjaro, and I share Mark Shepherd's view. This is an amazing video. The tips and details in the descriptions of their experiences are accurate. From the natural beauty to the physical challenges. I strongly disagree with the expressed religeous views , but give a huge and sincere two thumbs up to the men who put this together. You guys rock! It will be very informative for so many.
That is the job that puts food on the table of the families of the porters. On top of the living wage they received, we left them nice tips. Have you never eaten in a restaurant? Maybe even said a prayer when your food came? The waiter/waitress is paid for waiting on you. I’d hope you also gave them a tip.
Nice documentary...horrible title. Kinda click bait. More like just life on Mt. Kilimanjaro. I mean if you want to see both life and death on a mountain climb check out ' The Dark Side of Everest - Full Documentary ' .Just saying.

Great doc! The god thing got a little nauseating . Why do we search for a significance to life, is not life enough? Enjoy life! It's the only one we know.
Nice sales pitch to get people to pay GOD knows how much money to be pampered on a vacation with a bunch of old rich dudes........this piece really bugs me.
