We’re Jeni and Rich. We’re really just a couple of average Joes. In a nutshell we met and married in our early 20s; I graduated from college in my late 20s; adopted two cats and a dog in the late 90s; sold a house and bought a new house in our mid 30s; then sold the new house and moved onto a sailboat in our early 40s. In between all that we had a bunch of fun like camping, scuba diving, watching hockey games (Go Red Wings!), concerts, traveling, spear fishing, restoring a 1963 Chevy II Nova; spending time with family and friends. A few years ago we decided to lay off all the fun-having to fix up this old boat. We figure if we put our noses to the grindstone for a few years, we’ll be able to travel for a few years and do all the fun things we’ve missed.

Just found them yesterday. I agree because their videos are short, clear, and have a relaxed/professional feel.

Thanks for sharing the honest struggle with your sail bag. I’ll be looking forward to seeing version 2.0 (if Jenny is up for it). My wife and I are looking to purchase a Tayana 37 for retirement, so your channel has been helpful!!

Glad to hear it! These are great boats. I recommend the Mark II version (it has a separate shower stall).

Another great video! I've been climbing Cyclops' mast solo for years, since you first published a video showing your climbing rig, and I copied it. Thanks! Like you, I find it sometimes difficult, but not impossible, to see things at the very top. This is such a good idea. How far below the masthead did you place the steps? After using the steps, would you alter the placement? I'm guessing that the ideal step location would place your hips about 8 inches below the masthead? Have you tried looping a strap around the mast (above the climbing rope) and your waist, while standing on the mast steps? It seems like leaning back against that would provide some stability while working.

I placed the steps about 54" from the top of the mast. That puts the top at mid chest level so I can get my arms over the top. I think it's a good height for me. I've always used a strap around my waist when I have to work at the masthead. It definitely adds stability.

Excellent videos as usual. However, I may have not thru bolted the exhaust elbow. Might have epoxied wood to the the reverse side of the cockpit to screw or bolt into.

Yes, that was our first choice too, but it was going to require grinding off the old paint which makes a huge mess and it would have taken a bit longer. We chose the lazy way this time.

Nice work on the sail bag even if it's a Version 1.0 (or 2.0!). For the round part, use staples to hold everything together for sewing. I find alignment marks help too. I love your channel .. great content too! Paul D @thewindwardrail
